  1. We get advice all the time from different people abt different things. So its important to discern the good from the bad. Over my years I've gotten a ton from the unsaved and some professed Christians. Some are so ridiculous its a mystery if the people are serious ,crazy or trying to destroy u under the facade of friendliness.Whatt are some if the oddest or worst advice u ever got abt yr life, walk with God or otherwise? 1I was told by numerous people that I should fornicate or when I'm married my wife will be unhappy at my inexperience and cheat on or leave me. 2) one friend basically told me I need a vacation, nothing church related(I had a missob trip the previous year that I enjoyed). They then proudly said that they decided to go church only twice a month as if that some great purposeful achievement Howabout you?
  2. After the election results, I was discussing trumps winning witha friend. He was elated and praising God while I was a bit skeptical. Basically the convo broke down to him blasting hilary and praising trump(to him trump will reverse Americas moral decline while Clinton should be jailed for the email debacle) but when I point out some of the stuff trump was accused of, he down played or excused them....even the groping and bragging allegations My point isn't of who should have won or who should Christians vote for but I'm confused at this. How can Christians flame Hilary for her "crimes" but yet totally ignore Trump's many, many, many red flags. Its double standared. I see stuff like it here in my own country where in people ignore their political parties wrongs or faults and place sole blame for any issues on the opposition. To me a Christian should be above that and objective, call an ace an ace and a spade a spade. Its like people worship politicians which I am sickened by
  3. Personally theres nothing wrong with it IMO. But ladies, if you have to be the one to instigate it, you'd better take a long look at your relationship
  4. Question of the day. Is anything wrong with this, spiritually speaking
  5. This one faced alot of topical issues for that time-aids,date rape etc
  6. Something interesting that i heard that I found really intriguing. We all remember the cosby show, well it had a spin off, a show i loved- a different world. It followed the life of denise huxtable (lisa bonet) in college. well in the second season of the spin off, the star Denise, disappeared and never returned, she also didnt go back to the cosby show for a while. What happened? In real life, the actress became pregnant but the character Denise wasnt married. One of the writers wanted to integrate in the story Bill Cosby, who had a major production role in both, had her pulled because he didnt want such a popular and influential character to become an unwed teen mother onscreen. Constrast that when people living all sorts of lifestyle are pretty much front and centre (Teen mom for example) What do you think of this decision- Often i find some christians (not saying Bill was) prefer to bury their heads in the sand and act like somethings dont exist when they clearly do. as opposed to facing them head on
  7. He basically wamts kids of his own instrad of raising another mans. cant really say i blame him
  8. Oh i dont think he's inviting her anywhere. But some people actually have said shes being selfish.
  9. Honestly I cant agree with the method but i agree with his rationale
  10. something i noticed which was pretty amusing. But do you think a man would be right or christianlike to have this opinion
  11. Actually I find it easier to open up to Christians than the unsaved because I tend to keep things from non Christians because I don't want to give them ammo to attack Christians also it may be a stumbling block. EgI'm single and sometimes temptations will come, I'd be open about them with Christians but not with the unsaved cause I know they'll use it against me
  12. This really shows the impact of culture. In my country, spankings are so universally accepted that adults actually tell stories about being punished that way as kids and laugh. Also its not just parents, because were have strong extended familes, its pretty normal for a child to be spanked by aunts, uncles, grandparents,in spme cases family friends or even i visited a country and heard a pastor did it. Reason beinf ,parents trust rhe others adults discretion on the disciplinig their child. Matter of fact, next to my church is a tree and so many switches have been cut from it to punish kids for misbehavior. It may seem barbaric, but we don't get a quarter of the problems that we hear happening in the Us or other western countries
  13. What your stance on people spanking their kids. Some countries see it as a horrific act, making it illegal, other (like mine) see it as a perfectly acceptable means of disciplining their kids so long as its not excessive. The Bible itself endorses it in several verses
  14. Have u ever x had an experience where God gives u the chance to see why his word makes sense and then something that u didnt understand from scripture makes perfect sense. Heres mine I always wondered why God has a disdain for people beimg luke warm. I was thinking-isnt that better then being cold. Then ,i had expriences that prove His reasoning. With hot people u can work with because uknow they will most likely hear His . Word anf obey. With cold people ie atheists or unbeleivers u at least know that they don't beleive and can work with them on that. But some types of people its a headache to work with because u there really is no even ground to work on. I mean what I think of as buffet "Christians" who instead of taking the whole word and trying to live under it, will instead profess Christianity but pick and choose the parts and verses they like but wilfully disregard the ones they don't want. I've literally had debates where a person give reasons why they dont follow certain principles which the bible expressly speaks on(unequally yoked, homosexuality) to the point where they say certain verses eg written by Paul arent true. Its frustrating. This to me is Luke warm
  15. Same situation. Starts to get embittering and frustrating especially when u see Christians who have waled away from Gods service getting married or having to sit amongst married people band hear them talk abt their marriage benefits or have them drop snide patronising jokes and remarks . I actually started to hate married people. It seems someone up there is dangling opportunities at me and pulling them away just to get a joke. However,I did learn that we might think were ready for things and are not and God knowing this keeps is out of desirable situations til were ready for them. Maybe that's what happening with u.
  16. To clarify- not sley about church attendace but also about the way many Christians can excuse themselves form participation and help in ministries, leaving the bulk of the work to a faithful few for often petty reasons. i find alot of people seem to think sitting in a pew and not assisting is enough
  17. I'm going to do a skit highlighting the silly excuses people hide behind to justify their departure from church or excuse their refusal to come church or participate in church activities. What are some of the ones you've heard? Hereare some of mine I've witnessed. 1) leaving church because the people pray using archaic words like thee or thy. honestly how regularly would that happen? 2) leaving church causesomeone said something about them that they didn't like. Would make a little sense if not for the fact that you're bad talked at work school and practically anywhere else you go, but you don't leave there. 3)church full of hypocrites. Is your life any better?also u don't stop going to other places the hypocrites are? Any more?
  18. Well why I won't go so far as to say that. What I like is how he placed it on Gods discretion rather than just kicking them straight out
  19. Culling is a practice done by game reserve workers sometimes. Basically if animal populations eg elephants get to high it may not be good overall for thegroup, as they may overgraze and lose a food supply. So sometimes they kill off a few to keep the numbers down. I heard a recent story from a pastor that made me think of that. Basically he said his church had a number of lets say trouble makers, they were participating in church ministries for a number of years but would get involved in drinking, partying etc on occasion. This would be stressful for him because hed always wonder, what will they do this time and travel and return to news of a situation hed have to deal with, especially where he lived and the news travelled fast around the area. Eventually, he prayed and asked God this- If theyre going to change, even if it took 20 years, let them stay, but if not please remove them. Eventually, some of them left and the church is alot more peaceful. What do you think? Imo- it may seem cruel or judgmental but i think its a necessary cruelty to the good of the church and its ministry.
