  1. Yes there is, because I am a part of it...even though I'm not a dad. What got me in was the bogus Nike commercial with the "streaker" and the "catfight" Miller Lite ad with the 2 women clad as they were... I like having a voice :thumb:
  2. I think I own many of the most common translations and when I study, prepare sermons, lessons, etc., I'll use more than one. The one I take to church every Sunday and use the most is a NKJV that has in it also the Vine's Expository Dictionary (not a complete one mind you) contained in it. I own, besides that one, a pair of KJV (one is my mother's antique so I don't use it save for display), a pair of NIV (funny I never unpacked those when I moved
  3. "No Surrender" came at a time in my life when everything about me was being challenged...my faith, my career goals, you name it.
  4. Interesting thread! My wife-to-be and I met...strangely enough...via the 'net. She was dating some guy (turns out he was a loser with a capital L) and had decided it wasn't working out and it was time to turn him loose.
  5. Reading this thread is interesting. One thing for sure, my fiancee and I are on the same page with all the important stuff. We went to 2 different churches (hers a pentecostal, mine the Church of the Brethren) for a while when we were dating and first engaged.
  6. As a child of the 1970's I must say I survived an awful lot.
  7. I know this feeling all too well.
  8. Right now, I'm working on 2 books, one's a necessity and the other is for edification but is more enjoyment. One that I'm reading that's a must is a book about dealing with the adult victims/survivors of childhood sexual abuse. A situation in my life dictates that I read it (when I say that, I mean that I really WANT to understand based upon the situation and in order to do so, I have to read this book). It's heavy, but actually very enlightening for me...I need to understand and this is helping. It's written from a Christian perspective, with lots of scripture, and just practical information. The fellow that wrote it really did his homework. The other I'm reading right now is "If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat" by John Ortberg. It came as a recommendation from a lady minister in my former denomination, but I got really busy and left it sit for a while, and now the pastor of my new church just finished a sermon series about 4-5 weeks ago pulling information from that same book. So that kinda fueled my interest in getting back to that book. It's a good read.
  9. Lee: Don't worry about me buying into anyone else's theories...as I started out my post by saying "this is my 2 cents worth" and my opinion is my opinion.
  10. Been reading this thread and here's my 2 cents worth... Over the past 11 years, I have not participated in any local "trick or treat" events in the communities in which I've lived.
  11. Here's some stuff I'm reading right now and find it good "If You Want to Walk On Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat" by John Ortberg "The 21 Most Powerful Minutes in a Leader's Day" by John Maxwell (managers almost have to read this kind of stuff LOL) "Ashamed of the Gospel" was one I read recently (John McArthur) and I thought it was good too.
  12. Tigershark: I would say that this is spelling out a word (cuss words, for example) by placing other characters in it (I've seen places on the board where the "d" word is spelled out like d*...) or, like in some cartoons I've seen where cuss words are the various characters above the numbers on the keyboards, etc. Basically, I would say that if you're thinking in any path that would use the kind of language in that quoted rule #1 (with or without the spelling variation), it would be safer to not post it, but instead revise your thought and come up with a way to say it without using that language. Well said about the mission of WorthyBoards, George! :thumb: In Him, Bill
  13. I happen to like (sounds crazy but true) a good meatball sandwich...marinara sauce, etc., with some onions and provolone...the one local convenience store actually makes a pretty good one. Also, before McD's introduced their grilled chicken flatbread sandwich, I had something very similar somewhere else...I want to say in NY or NJ...but it was very similar, and very good. Have I tried the McD's version? Yeah...it's not bad either. Time to go get something to eat now! LOL! :thumb:
  14. I've recently decided to dust one of my talents off.
  15. I read this in a book called "The Answers Book" put out by Answers In Genesis (Answers in Genesis). Dinosaurs were first in existence about 6000 years ago, and were created on the sixth day with Adam, Eve, and the other animals (Genesis 1:20-25, 31).
  16. How's that quote go? Yesterday's history, tomorrow's the future, and today's a gift that's why it's called the present! (Not sure if that's right or not) If I notice one thing that's changed for me since 9/11 it's an even deeper drawing closer to God in prayer and study of the Word, and even greater recognition of the fact that He will be coming back soon for us (that whole "wars and rumors of wars" thing).
  17. I think your scripture post is relevant Timothy.
  18. Maybe I'm waaaayyyyy off base, but here's a take. As for content of games affecting kids, I would say it's all in what mom and dad allow them to play.
