If I am so wrong provide some sort evidence to show that I am wrong. Your opinion does not make me wrong.

I don't care what it says. To be "something" it has to exhibit characteristics/traits of that something. Bananas grow on trees: they are green and yellow, contain complex/simple Carbs chalk full of K+ and B6, and when you freeze them it destroys B6. That's what makes Bananas, "Bananas" and differentiates them from Strawberries. It's how we differentiate between Tumble Weeds and Texas Toast. It's the same with "Science"... "Science" exhibits characteristics/traits of it's Method, The "Scientific Method"...without it , it's not "Science". Science without TESTING/Experiment (Hypotheses/Theories) is like Water without Hydrogen....it's painfully Non-Sequitur. To refute, it's quite simple... 1. Show A Formal Scientific Hypothesis and Scientific Theory resulting from the "discipline" ? OR 2. Show how "Science" can Operate without Hypotheses and Theories.....? Go ahead....? While you are certainly entitled to reject any definition you choose, it really does not amount to anything when your personal definition is in opposition to the rest of the scientific community. I would also point out there are scarlet bananas, pink bananas, as well as purple and ones with stripes. Some have bright orange fruit and taste more like a strawberry. I bring this up to highlight the inherent dangers of using such narrow definitions, they rarely are meaningful. Your definition of a banana above would exclude all the banana types I listed. http://web.stanford.edu/group/anthropocene/cgi-bin/wordpress/essay-the-crazy-history-of-3-ridiculous-geological-theories/ http://historyofgeology.fieldofscience.com/2011/01/from-contractional-theory-to-modern.html

My livelihood is based upon access to the internet, I would go broke living like the Amish. Even this week cost me money, but it was well worth the price.

that not only is tacky, but also rather presumptuous of you to think you can set the rules of conversation here..... how many posts do you have here???? 25..... When did the court system start strictly following the constitution? Just because they don't follow the constitution all the time doesn't make you correct. I am a very confident person, as such when I am told arbitrarily that I am wrong two things happen. The first is my defenses go on high alert and at times I will counterattack. At the same time my confidence wants to be correct so I will ask for some sort of evidence to examine and have no problem admitting I was wrong and changing my views. If there is nothing offered to support the charge that I am wrong, then he is just starting his opinion, and as they say opinions are like armpits, everyone has them and most stink. Returning to the topic of free speech, I will address the comments by Shiloh357. If a newspaper publishes an article the government does not like and the government punished them, that would be a violation of free speech. If based upon the same story the government did nothing and advertisers no longer advertised with that paper because they didn't like the story, there is no infringement upon free speech. Early in my career I lost a client because of a bumper sticker on my personal car supporting a candidate for governor. After a meeting at a restaurant we walked out to our cars and went our separate ways. The next day he called me and said that pulling out of the parking lot he saw my sticker and would no longer be employing my services. He was 100% in his right to do so and it was not an infringement on my free speech. I will say it again, freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences.

You have a child like view of free speech, there really is no other way to describe it. Feel free to provide the court cases overturning actions such as this. Until such time I am correct.
-
Thanks all, let me add, we were not roughing it. Our tent was nicer than my first apartment and our evening meals were prepared by a paid professional. But the freedom of no phone, computer or even clock was the draw.
-
This is why the school board is doing a good service for the children, helping them to not become grown adults that fail to understand what the freedom of speech means. You also undermine your argument when you give examples of when it is acceptable for their to be consequences attached to free speech. What this comes down to is you not agreeing with why they did it, not that it was done.
-
The school board is actually doing the children a service by teaching them early that freedom of speech does not automatically grant freedom from consequences. This man has all the same rights he had a week ago.

It is irrelevant if he was representing his employer, they still have the right to protect their brand. As I stated above, freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences, it just isn't. He is free to say what he wants, he can say it again tomorrow, nobody has taken that from him. When you provide the story of his firing being overturned by a court of law I will be glad to admit I am wrong, till such time I am 100% correct.
-
A great many people fail to understand the right to free speech, they believe it gives them the right to say whatever they like consequence free, but that is not the case. The constitution keeps the government from limiting our free speech, it is not a get out of free card. His employer has every right to protect their brand and are under no obligation to withhold consequences in the name of free speech.

My wife and I just spent 5 days devoid of any sort of electronic, or electric for that matter, device or equipment. It was amazing, so relaxing and refreshing. It was us and two other couples only 15 miles from a town but totally isolated in our own right. A "chef" that kept us well feed, hiking, fishing and just being alone with each other. I highly recommend it.

Geology is not "Science". ????? http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/geology

There was no violation of free speech rights, the right to free speech does not remove the consequences that might accompany it.

I no longer believe there is enough difference between the two major parties to justify the term "lesser of two evils". Not voting for a party or candidate because you feel they cannot win becomes a self fulfilling prophecy and a losing proposition. In my opinion the only hope this country has is the sacrifice an election or two in order to break the stranglehold the two parties have on the country. Remember, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different outcome.

Not to go OT but what on earth is a 'nice glass of Sarah;? Silly auto-correct....should have been "Syrah", an amazing full bodied red wine.
-
My views are based upon the view "leave me alone and I will leave you alone", thus I am very much Libertarian. I am against the war on drugs and the war on poverty. Marriage should be strictly a religious sacrament and if two or more people want certain rights and benefits they can create a domestic partnership, and I could not care less who makes up that partnership. The tax code should be destroyed and either a flat tax or a consumption tax implemented. No more social engineering via the tax code, no mortgage deduction, no education deduction, no marriage benefits, none of that. If my neighbor wants to smoke pot on his back porch why should I care and why should I be able to enjoy a nice glass of Sarah if he cannot do his thing.

WN: Study: True size of federal government debt is $210 trillion
Uncertain replied to WorthyNewsBot's topic in U.S. News
There really was nothing to hide. This gentlemen made a prediction based upon an infinite period of time, which makes it a meaningless figure. If a client came to me and I told them at some infinite point in time their investments would garner them 20 million dollars, I would not be in business for long as I would be laughed all the way to the unemployment line.
