James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. Isaiah 58:7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? Luke 14:12 He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbours, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. 13 But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

@Eternally Gratefull do you believe the following verses? 2Peter 1:5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 1:6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 1:7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 1:8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1:9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. 1:10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. And Peter is writing to the saints - to those sanctified in Jesus and to whom he will complete a good work in them ... 2Peter 1:1 Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ: -

I do not copy and paste scripture because I am avoiding your questions, the scriptures posted are pertinent to what you are quoting - for you are implying an understanding of these verses which are doctrinally incorrect. Philippians 1:5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. 1:6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. so what are you claiming here? That we cannot fail or sin or backslide because God will bring us through whether we like it or not? I am not a robot, and I have free will which includes the choice to sin and keep on sinning. If I choose to be loyal and steadfast and to walk in the Spirit then Christ Jesus will see me through to the end. And if I stumble with sin and confess and repent of this then yes I am cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Verse 6 corresponds to other verses that teach us of God's hand upon us in partnership with our faith and our walk ... a walk we need to put effort and works into for it is truly a mutual obligation agreement. 1Peter 1:4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Hebrews 10:14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. Yes Jesus has sanctified and justified the Spirit-filled Christian; but this verse is a motherhood claim about our spiritual status in Christ Jesus. This applies to those of us who love the Lord sufficiently to endure to the end and walk in the light. Again what are you claiming here? Some doctrine over and above what this scripture teaches us it would seem. Salvation is dependent on us walking on and overcoming temptations, trials and tribulations. And as we do then God helps us to soldier on. None of these verses nor any others support the false doctrine of OSAS. -
Rev 16:12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, to prepare the way for the kings from the east. 16:13 And I saw, coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs. 16:14 For they are demonic spirits, performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. the dragon > Satan and his lot the beast > Rome and the Papacy - worldly power? NATO ? the false prophet > Mohammed the prophet of God [a.k.a. Allah]

I think it is much more specific than just against love. Jesus Christ (the anointed one) and disciples after Pentecost are anointed with the Holy Spirit - there are many anti-Christs refers to people and heresies that oppose the need for Holy Spirit baptism with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Supposed disciples were already denying the truth. See 1John. The anti-Christ - the number of a man - has been with us for over a thousand years; for He (his office, his doctrines, his authority) opposes the truth of scripture. That disciples MUST be born new by full immersion water baptism with a confession of their faith in Christ Jesus as their Lord and Saviour [babies find this bit hard to do] and born from above by the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues. The Popes and all that they represent oppose the gospel once delivered to the saints. And the women clad in scarlet and purple is a city that sits on seven hills - Rome.

This all going to happen in the future is nonsense and unscriptural. Daniel's seventy weeks prophecy is not futuristic it has already come and gone at the time of Jesus and the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD. As for the Church of Rome and the Papacy these both are reborn out of the destroyed old imperial Roman Empire - the first beast is Rome and worldly empires that come from out of her ... the second beast comes out of Rome and is the Papacy as an office; therefore a man by title and function ... And the world does follow and worship the beast, the anti-Christ. Even now Pope Francis is in Iraq being feted by Muslims and attracting crowds of thousands. And who is there in all of Christianity that can compare with the Pope? Who is the supreme bishop of the Lutherans? Or of the Anglicans? Or of any other Orthodox or Protestant churches? Only the Popes of Rome enjoy being a head of state and having other kings and presidents call in for a chat.
-
The Papacy as we know it - the Bishop of Rome being the supreme bishop over all others began with Pope Boniface III - Pope Boniface III was a man who served as the 66th pope in February 607. He only held the position for 266 days before he died in November 607 AD. In an official decree issued by the pope, he made Rome the head or the supreme church over all churches in the Byzantine Empire. This decree also stated that the bishop of Rome was the Universal Bishop, and had authority on doctrine, etc. over all other bishops. Boniface's other notable act resulted from his close relationship with Emperor Phocas. He sought and obtained a decree from Phocas which restated that "the See of Blessed Peter the Apostle should be the head of all the Churches". This ensured that the title of "universal bishop" belonged exclusively to the bishop of Rome, and effectively ended the attempt by Patriarch Cyriacus of Constantinople to establish himself as "universal bishop".

Repentance... is it from sin or from unbelief?

I do indeed believe and act upon the word of God: Romans 2:3 Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? 2:4 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? Hebrews 12:14 Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. 12:15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; 12:16 that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. 12:17 For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears. 2Peter 1:8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1:9 For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. 1:10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. -

1John 1:6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1:10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. -

What nonsense is this? No one is condemning @leah777 yes we are under grace and therefore we continue to walk in the Spirit and to walk pleasing unto God. We are required to put the effort into becoming wise unto salvation by discerning what is good and what is evil (sin) and to be an overcomer. Grace is not an excuse to become slothful and presume we are saved because once upon a time we got baptised or whatever. Remember the words of our Lord and God - not everybody who says to me Lord, Lord shall enter the kingdom of God - yes Christians can fail. Colossians 1:28 Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 6:6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 6:13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. 15 What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Ephesians 5:8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 5:9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), 5:10 and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. -

Well no wonder you are confused. The epistles to the churches are there for our admonition and exhortation - they guide and correct us and explain the perils of failing. You may have come to the Lord on a certain day, but you need to keep on walking with the Lord until the end. -

No not really ... just read the epistles written to the church giving correction and instructions on how to stay saved. There is so much dumbing down of Christian faith these days - most modern new age doctrines are opposed to the truth of the Word of God. Ignore them. Just read your epistles and learn directly from the word of God - It is not confusing - just be a doer of the word: Titus 2:11 For the grace of God hath appeared to all men bringing salvation, 12 instructing us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present age; 13 awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a people for his possession, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one despise thee. -

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 6:2 and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 6:3 And this we will do if God permits. so is repentance becoming God conscious ?? and ceasing from worldly pursuits? Isaiah 55:6 “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; 55:7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. -

there is repentance from dead works and their is contrition > Godly sorrow Contrite > broken-hearted for sin; deeply affected with grief and sorrow for sin; penitent; > contrition being penitent and prayerful in seeking forgiveness for sin. -

REPENT G3340 μετανοέω metanoeō From G3326 and G3539; to think differently or afterwards, that is, reconsider (morally to feel compunction): - repent. Total KJV occurrences: 34 A famous British preacher explained that regret was personal sorrow for mistakes made; remorse was sorrow for offences against other people; and repentance was recognition of wrongdoing against God and contrition over this. Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; 2Cor 7:9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to *repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. * G3341 > From G3340; (subjectively) compunction (for guilt, including reformation); by implication reversal (of [another’s] decision): - repentance. -
Applying Ocaam's Razor to the Creation/Evolution Discussion

Would you like a personal relationship with the God of creation? Would you like to have the Spirit of God dwelling within you? Knowing of God in truth and by being transformed by the power and work of the Holy Spirit? Would you like miracles, healings and blessings in your life? Would you like the free offer of life after death and to enter the eternities with God when he returns to claim his own? Darwin and Dawkins cannot offer you any of this. -
What Do You Think God Should Have Done With These People?
Waggles replied to JAG**'s topic in General Discussion
Why? this prayer is not the means to salvation in Christ Jesus Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, [Men] Brethren, what shall we do? 38 And Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized each of you in the name of Jesus Christ unto remission of your sins; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call unto him. Hebrews 6:1 Wherefore leaving the word of the beginning of the Christ, let us be borne on unto the perfection; not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,- 2 the teaching of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. -
You always avoid what others post in response to your blogs. You skip over the truth presented to you, and keep on professing where your heart is at here in this thread. I was not conditioned to believe the Bible is the word of God. Far from it. I enjoyed my sinful lifestyle and the pleasures I indulged in. It was only when I received the Holy Spirit of God that my heart and my eyes were enlightened and only then did I come to know the truth of the word of God. As for Hinduism and their religion being older that Christianity that is no evidence of truth. That just confirms Deuteronomy 32: 8-10. I am sure that I posted about these verses and what they mean for the world's other religions. But it all goes in one ear and straight out the other because in the end you are not really interested in truth. Which is the valid one is the religion that saves people and their souls - where the lame do walk, and the blind do see, and the deaf do hear, and the dead are raised up, and miracles are supplied bountifully. Theses signs shall follow them that believe. By this we know which God is true. John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 8:45 But because I [Jesus] tell the truth, you do not believe me. Job 1:7 The LORD said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.”

2Timothy 4:3 For a season will be when they will not endure the sound teaching; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto the fables. Isaiah 57:15 For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. None of what you write is valid. For to find the truth of the God of salvation is of the heart - our inner selves. It is with the heart that one believes and of the heart that one repents, and humbles themselves. It is with the heart that one forsakes selfwill. Books by unbelievers are just that products of worldly wisdom - the blind leading the blind. There is no truth in them because the truth does not dwell in them. And you have no answers to the posts that I have written about the Spirit of truth; experiencing God; interacting with God; knowledge of God; miracles; healings; signs and wonders; blessings; answered prayer. I do not know which denomination or sect of Christianity you grew up in but it obviously was unsatisfactory. But that is no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I invite you to pray to discern truth from Jesus Christ himself (as I did). If you sincerely desire salvation in the truth then Jesus will lead you to a church of believers who do it the right way. Experience God for yourself through the indwelling Holy Spirit. You in God and God in you. How much more truth do you need? But if you weary of God and righteousness then you may foolishly seek your salvation through Darwin and Dawkins.

Applying Ocaam's Razor to the Creation/Evolution Discussion
Waggles replied to Riverwalker's topic in Science and Faith
The problems for the aficionados of Darwin is their inherit unconscious bias - all things must be explained through "natural" methodology because they begin by discounting truth from the equation. Richard Attenborough is a classic example of this when in his docos he highlights (repeatedly) biological design and biological engineering that is marvellous to behold. And yet denies the possibility outright that design and engineering is of God. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpRPTYVi5nY&t=545s -

A great deal of speculation about possibilities here - did any of you guys actually observe any of this happening? common ancestor is their creator. The mind and power that created them and all life. No examination of biology and life ever precludes God. -
Ezekiel 36:26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, 20 that they may walk in my statutes and keep my rules and obey them. in scripture referred to as temperance -- self control, being sober. asceticism noun the manner of life, practices, or principles of an ascetic. the doctrine that a person can attain a high spiritual and moral state by practicing self-denial, self-mortification, and the like. rigorous self-denial; extreme abstinence; austerity. not called for as necessary as a Christian disciple - temperance is one of the segments of the fruit of the Spirit. we are not called to be monks or hermits but simply not to live worldly - to distinguish ourselves from worldly passions and lusts (for example, not gambling at a casino or at the racecourse, no partying and nightclubbing). instructing us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present age; Titus 2:12 Col 3:1 If then ye were raised together with the Christ, seek the things above, where the Christ is, seated at God’s right. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on those upon the earth.
