Does water baptism precede regeneration?

Because it is wrong. Jesus is referring to water baptism. Jesus is not saying unless a man is born and alive then he must be born again. Obviously it goes without saying that only living people can repent and believe in Jesus as their Saviour. water baptism and Holy Spirit baptism go together and are referred to later in the NT as one baptism > one way of doing things > one faith -

You are extremely one-eyed when interpreting scripture. Col 2:11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. having been buried with him in baptism, this is a clear unambiguous reference to water baptism by full immersion. Going under the water equates to burial (Romans 6) One is not buried in any sense when baptised in the Holy Spirit. -

Water baptism is symbolic and spiritually significant as it represents a convert being not only being washed clean; but also sharing in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, desiring to walk in newness of life. Then this also requires baptism in the Holy Spirit to empower us to continue this walk and to be overcomers. -
Hell is a mistranslation - old time RCC theology product. Hell - G1067 γέεννα geenna gheh'-en-nah > the valley of Gehenna > a rubbish dump that continually smoked from fires that burned. Of Hebrew origin ([H1516] and [H2011]); valley of (the son of) Hinnom; gehenna (or Ge-Hinnom), a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment: - hell. Total KJV occurrences: 12 Mark 9:47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, 48 ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ Souls that face eternal condemnation do not go to Hell - they are thrown into the lake of fire which is the second death. Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

I do not think that there is a great deal of difference in either the OT or in the NT. When people die their bodies decompose or are burned - our carnal bodies perish. But our souls are taken to the underworld (Sheol) and we sleep awaiting either the first resurrection or the second resurrection. 1Samuel 28:11 Then the woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” He said, “Bring up Samuel for me.” 12 When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman said to Saul, “Why have you deceived me? You are Saul.” 13 The king said to her, “Do not be afraid. What do you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I see a god coming up out of the earth.” 14 He said to her, “What is his appearance?” And she said, “An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped in a robe.” And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and paid homage. 15 Then Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” Saul answered, “I am in great distress, for the Philistines are warring against me, and God has turned away from me and answers me no more, either by prophets or by dreams. Therefore I have summoned you to tell me what I shall do.” -

"for Me" refers to Jesus not for the Holy Spirit Acts 9:15 But the Lord [Jesus]said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.” Christians are disciples of Christ Jesus and the gospel not disciples of the Holy Spirit, not praying to the Holy Spirit. But some of us are imbued with the power and truth of the Holy Spirit to be disciples unto God. -
Hhhmmm I believe that scriptures references to predestined are explaining how the plan of salvation was put into place before we existed ... the plan of redemption was predestined and we were created to partake of that redemption and salvation. God foreknew our our rebellion and fall, but his love for us would be great enough to endure Golgotha for the glory of his church, and for all who would eventually be granted eternal life through God's grace. 2Tim 1:8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, 9 who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, [before the world began] 10 and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

And the Bible teaches water baptism both in the Hebrew and in the Greek. Water baptism is scriptural and clearly espoused in the gospels, Acts and the epistles. So let us stop arguing with God and wrestling with the scriptures and just do it! Afterall God loves obedience from his children. -
Who cares about John Calvin? Rather care what God tells us to do. Go out and preach the good news about salvation in Christ Jesus and the blessings of living the gospel. I share my testimony with others as to how by believing the gospel I was transformed from a junkie and a criminal (by baptism in water and the Holy Spirit) and set free from all of that pain and addictions (instantly in one afternoon). And I am able to share with others testimonies to many miracles and healings and blessings from God. Remember it is the "good news" of salvation.

You need to take off your dark sunglasses as no light is reaching your eyes. You approach scripture through your own theology and therefore discredit the word of God to suit your own doctrine. Do it your way. Jesus himself could appear to instruct you of water baptism, but you no doubt would inform Him that he was wrong. -

Rather it is you that cannot read the scriptures that reveal the two persons of the Godhead - the Father and the Son - with the Holy Spirit being the power of God working in this world through the Son > creation, judgement, the Garden, the Patriarchs, Israel, Moses and the Law, the prophets, the gospel ministry, and finally the Spirit-filled church > the body of Christ. God the Son has come into the world in numerous visible forms to interact with His creation, while God the Father would appear to remain in the Heavens and interact with the world through the Son (Yahweh) by his Spirit. As Christians we pray to our Father in Heaven and to Christ Jesus, but we do not pray to the Holy Spirit, nor ask for the Holy Spirit to intercede for us. John 4:23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. Ephesians 2:18 For through him [Jesus] we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. -
The Parable of the Farmer Sowing Seed Mark 4:14 The sower sows the word. 15 And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown: when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that is sown in them. 16 And these are the ones sown on rocky ground: the ones who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy. 17 And they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately they fall away. 18 And others are the ones sown among thorns. They are those who hear the word, 19 but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 20 But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.”

See previous post on "The parable of the barren fig tree" in Luke 13:6-9 Nothing is automatic in the NT - the Holy Spirit is given to those who believing ask for the Holy Spirit - Luke 11:13 The fruit of the Spirit and our good fruits come through learning and growing in righteousness and in walking in the Spirit - becoming more perfect in Christ as Paul writes. Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. John 14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 1Tim 2:10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. 1Tim 5:10 and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, has shown hospitality, has washed the feet of the saints, has cared for the afflicted, and has devoted herself to every good work. Titus 1:16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work. Titus 3:14 And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful. Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, James 2:26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead. Titus 2:13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree Luke 13:6 And he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. 7 And he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?’ 8 And he answered him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure. 9 Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’” This blows away OSAS

Matthew 3:10 Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. Mark 4:3 “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. ... 19 but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 20 But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.”

Exodus 3:2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. Exo 3:3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. Exo 3:4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. Exo 3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. Exo 3:6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. Genesis 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. Judges 6:22 And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face. 23 And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. 1Chronicles 21:16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces. Exodus 23:20 “Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. 21 Pay careful attention to him and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression, for my name is in him. 2Samuel 7:13 He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. Malachi 1:11 For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts. -
