  1. Great question; I perceive you are asking about the mechanics of placing a human on a stake or cross, as some believe, as what occurred to Jesus. You make a good point about the weight involved with a 160lb man, plus the weight of the timber. We don't know how high the human was placed on the beam/s, nor how deep was the receiving shaft for the timber. A preliminary thought I have is that a wooden scaffold apparatus could have been used to lift up the stake/cross, especially useful at the hardest part of the lifting, which would have been at about 90 degrees up to the final resting spot of 180 degrees, i.e. vertical.
  2. Bad guys are getting worse and more creative. Wait until they start using AI to find "better" ways to rip us all off!
  3. You might want to check Tesla stock: is has fallen by 1/3 since the day of Trump's inauguration, which equates to many 10s of billions of dollars of "loss" for Musk.
  4. Your question is confusing; could you restate it with different words please?
  5. I am perplexed at how the Israeli government plays a part in God's plan as Jews, in general, do not accept Jesus.
  6. Here is a thought experiment: if predestination were Biblical, then that would mean, that prior to creating angels or earthling man, God exercised his powers of foreknowledge and foresaw and foreknew all that would result from such creation, including the rebellion of the first human pair in Eden and all the bad consequences of such rebellion down to and beyond this present day. This would necessarily mean that all the wickedness that history has recorded (the crime and immorality, oppression and resultant suffering, lying and hypocrisy, false worship and idolatry) once existed, before creation’s beginning, only in the mind of God, in the form of his foreknowledge of the future in all of its minutest details. If the Creator of mankind had indeed exercised his power to foreknow all that history has seen since man’s creation, then the full weight of all the wickedness thereafter resulting was deliberately set in motion by God when he spoke the words: “Let us make man.” (Ge 1:26) These facts bring into question the reasonableness and consistency of the predestinarian concept; particularly so, since the disciple James shows that disorder and other vile things do not originate from God’s heavenly presence but are “earthly, animal, demonic” in source.—Jas 3:14-18.
  7. No doubt there will be doomsday inclined people who will take this low-percentage threat as fodder for man's failings and that the meteor will be divine retribution; or who knows what other iterations of the preceding.
  8. Great conversation gentlemen, as this topic make me think and I appreciate that stimulus. Regrading the quotation above, I also apply that basic need of humankind to the creation of gangs. People crave belonging and purpose and will find it anywhere, even in destructive pathways, like violent gangs, or in religions that create structure, but then later lose out on love.
  9. So true Grumix and thank you for sharing. On another topic, you have written a LOT. I have learned that "chunking" information (I am a high school and college instructor) for learning purposes is how people best learn. You wonder from topic to topic in ways that bewilder the reader. Could you incapsulate the crux of your argument in a sentence or two? Thank you
  10. The Israelites had a much higher birth rate that did the Egyptians. Eventually, the Egyptians would be out-numbered and their identify and even strength as a nation would be challenged.
  11. Trump says things for shock value that are not necessarily intended to happen. Greenland is important for military strategy (ICBMs from Russia would first travel over Greenland, for example), but why not use US muscle to build more bases there (there is already one US military base there)? Why not have a special trading partnership with Greenland? US interests could be served without having to buy the island. BTW, what would it cost to buy Greenland? How many billions of dollars? That seems anti-DOGE. Regarding Canada, the Canadians would have to agree to giving up their sovereignty and I don't see that happening. Some things Trump says are logical and some are illogical. I agree that the US's trade imbalance needs to change. We are getting ripped off on that. But Americans love to buy items that are made cheaply. Price a man's three piece suit, for example, if it were made stateside, and the list goes on...
  12. Individuals with low IQ and severe cognitive challenges are hardly able to comprehend the issue of spirituality and our standing with God, when they can barely speak. Think of our population in the Mod-Severe range of the Special Education population. With so many people in this category, it will be up to Jesus to make the determination...
  13. Nicely stated Sower. Thank you for sharing.
  14. Great point about the dollar. Yes, the dollar is strong NOW, but as we know, currencies go up AND down over time. So yes, the strength of the dollar is advantageous to Trump, but for how long?
  15. Trump is legitimately bothered by the trade imbalance. In other words, we buy MORE from other countries than they BUY from us. Trump believes that is NOT fair. Tarifs is a way to partially address this "problem." Will tariffs raise prices? Of course! So we all have to endure a little bit of pain for the good of the greater order. I have STOPPED eating guacamole and I have stopped buying eggs (another issue on this one, but you get my point). We all have to pitch in. Tariffs do hurt Americans, BUT they hurt Canadians, Mexicans and Chinese more than us. So we all have to suck it up!
  16. The problem of the national debt has been kicked down the road by BOTH republicans and democrats for decades! If we do not reduce this debt load, our children and grand-children are doomed! So if we agree to reducing the debt, how can that occur if some employees do NOT lose their jobs. It is impossible to reduce the debt and still allow everyone to keep their jobs! Some people have to go... So then who goes? Well, everyone who has a job with the government believes THEIR job is important. Well, DOGE is taking a sledge hammer to what should be a surgical operation, but since NO political party has taken on the debt with precision over the decades, now it is too late and someone has to "break some things." Ignore a problem when you COULD HAVE solved it with only a little pain, only means that later, you have to solve the problem with a LOT of pain.
  17. What other forums do you visit?
  18. That is an amazing report. I would love to see a video of this. Keep praising the Lord!
  19. I enjoy your mental though experiment! With the billions of planets "out there," there MIGHT be a planet that could support life (i.e. temperatures that human-like life forms could survive, along with a gas mixture that could support lung capacity, etc.), BUT would God have created and placed humans on another planet? I sense not as I don't see any scriptural proof for this. But the question certainly stretches one's imagination! I'd love to see what our experts out there in Worthy Christian land think!
  20. I am a Spanish teacher at the high school and college level who married a woman, whose parents are Mexican nationals and so I have a unique perspective. I FEEL for these individuals who are looking for a better economic future, which is the MAIN reason the VAST majority of people cross the border illegally. Still, as vast a country as the US is, there are still limits on how "hospitable" we can be. Just as all of us could probably take in one family who needs help because of a burned out home, could we take on ten families? There are limits to what we can do to help others from other countries. Still, there can be unforeseen consequences: there are MANY jobs that need to be done in the US that require low-level skills (e.g.service industry jobs, crop picking) and without this workforce willing to do these jobs, are we willing to pay MORE for hotels, restaurants, etc? Something to ponder... Bottom line: I'm torn...
  21. Thank you for sharing Ayin; Your insight provides perspective and context.
  22. Hi IaMan: I am confused by your submission. What is your point? Perhaps I missed something. tx
  23. What is the purpose of speaking in tongues if such "tongue" is not a known language? Additionally, when people speak in "tongues" is it babbling? I have never been in such a scenario so I am asking. For those who engage in speaking in tongues, has it been recorded and then passed to a linguist for analysis? Or is it mumbling? Why not just use actual words to speak to God?
  24. Wow--what a traumatic childhood. I would be interested in your transition from a sickly child to a marathoner and servant of God.
