  1. Your comments seem possible, especially mentioning sound being of void of any imperfection. The bible passages seem somewhat supportive, although don't directly mention sounds. Thanks for the perspective.
  2. I was just wondering what others thought about language in Heaven. Something altogether new? The capability to speak all languages to anyone we encounter in Heaven? What do you think?
  3. from the song "I Can Only Imagine" (a favorite of mine, and many others) I sometimes imagine what I might do, but ultimately I come to realize that Heaven is so overwhelmingly unimaginable to the human mind, that I may be speechless and in awe. Praises to you, Lord Jesus Christ!
  4. Hi @Rebecca Pickles, It's too bad that politicians, or whomever, can cause such frustration for something so personal. Hopefully, this sort of thing doesn't continue to happen to you. For me, the passing of my grandmother was bittersweet. Grandma was 92 and fairly healthy for her age, aside from her eyesight failing. She fell and hit her head on the corner of the stove/oven in her kitchen and went into a coma a few days later, then passed away. The interesting thing was that her son had died as an older teenager decades before from a head injury and coma in almost identical ways. Also, I wasn't a believer at the time, but in my sorrow and grief, I realized about a year & half later about the true way to see her again forever in Heaven. The Holy Spirit took over and I haven't been the same since, including not being afraid to pass away. I'm just hoping I can gradually show my husband & children the same way. I'll pass along the article you posted to those I think may be interested, through my personal e-mail. Who knows? Someone else may like to read it also. - mlb (aka Michelle)
  5. Thank you for your encouraging words. and, no, I am no longer a doormat for my husband, I am now much more confident and strong with Jesus beside me. My husband doesn't like that I stand up for myself now, but we work things through a lot better in the long run. - mlb
  6. Becky, Sorry about your mom's (mum's) passing, as my heart has ached since my grandmother passed in 2015. I agree with you, though, that believers, with a peaceful exit would probably be quite lovely. No matter how, or when, the moment we are with Jesus, we will feel overwhelming love and peace, I believe. Thanks again for the link, and for the chat. mlb
  7. Thank you so much for the article you have shared! I have Bookmarked the site so I can frequently read and share articles from it. I just have to mention that your additional comments about fear of death really connected with me. I remember when I first became a true believer and devoted to following Jesus, the biggest difference I felt was the absence of fear of death. Oh, I'm sure that it would be instinct and an automatic response to be scared to be fatally injured, but if I had a moment of clarity, I would be comforted knowing that I will be safe and secure with Him.
  8. I am relatively new believer, having been saved just over two years ago. I don't have any scripture to quote, but I appreciate the incite that Willa and others much more knowledgeable in the word can give. What I can mention is that I, too, am in an emotionally abusive relationship with my husband of 25 years. A few years ago, I left him for a short time, began divorce proceedings, but dropped it all and returned to him to try to work it out. Even though he grew up in a Catholic home, he wasn't truly a believer, and still isn't. He isn't comfortable with being at church or being involved in any bible study, church-related activity, or even attending weddings in a church. In the case of my husband, his parents had methods that created very insecure children in his family, and that insecurity comes through in his adult life in many ways, including when things take my attention away from my husband. My attention to Jesus and the bible has caused some tension. He has said some snide comments about me reading the bible, attending church on-line or doing a bible study, etc. so it can be frustrating at times. While I don't agree with the emotionally abusive actions of my husband with our children and me, I can say that the more I have changed my actions to be pleasing to God, the less emotionally abusive my husband has become. Also, I do feel that ... but if my husband told me I couldn't attend church on-line, or read the bible, etc. I wouldn't think that it would be right to stop doing those things just because my husband said. He doesn't like to hear it, but God is first above all else. I hope my words have helped in some way. mlb
  9. Thank you Margo, for your help. I appreciate the prayer example and advice.
  10. I thought this was the case. You have reaffirmed my understanding of this fundamental belief that each person must truly believe in Jesus, what He has done for us, that He ascended into Heaven, & will come again one day to make judgement of all. I was asking for a friend whose mother has only a couple weeks left here on earth. I'll talk to her and pray for her family. thank you
  11. A person, who has a chronic illness such as Alzheimers or dementia in advanced stages, who has been know not to be a believer... Is there scripture that would be interpreted to show salvation of this person through prayer by family members?
  12. Thank you Willa, This is the situation in my household. My husband has not given his life to Jesus and has several blasphemous, profane, and irreverent habits. I read the topic of this discussion and was intrigued and puzzled that my husband would be granted eternal salvation on account of my faithfulness. I appreciate your explanation and interpretation. I had always assumed that he must still believe, in his heart, the only way. John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. mlb
  13. I know, I know... I realized that after I answered that "I stand corrected". I will humble myself to admit that I was wrong once more. thank you
  14. Thank you for the clarification and the information about Pelagianism, something I hadn't known in detail. Blessings to you, mlb
  15. I like your explanation. It makes sense how our choices, although sometimes poor ones, can produce certain unique results and God's divine intervention can change things in a way that directs us to His way. Thank you, mlb
  16. While I certainly appreciate equal rights, as a woman, I think there is a balance of pros and cons for women and men, regardless how or why God says man is to rule over his wife. The bible has many examples of women being honored by their husbands, treated with dignity, etc. I found this article, which sheds some light on the subject: The Biblical Portrait of Women: Setting the Record Straight at Grace To You - gty.org From the very first chapter of the Bible, we are taught that women, like men, bear the stamp of God's own image (Genesis 1:27; 5:1-2)—men and women were created equal. Women play prominent roles in many key biblical narratives. Wives are seen as venerated partners and cherished companions to their husbands, not merely slaves or pieces of household furniture (Genesis 2:20-24; Proverbs 19:14; Ecclesiastes 9:9). At Sinai, God commanded children to honor both father and mother (Exodus 20:12). read the rest of the writing at the website mentioned above for more thoughts on the topic. What do you think? mlb
  17. Thank you! You just gave me my next goal - to read more into the book of Revelation. I have read passages hear and there, but only a couple. Now you have peaked my interest to read more in depth. Glory to God! with much appreciation, mlb
  18. Then I wonder if it is truly 100% our choosing?? or is there something more that I am not understanding? I only question it because I really want to learn from others' interpretations. mlb
  19. I am a novice at interpreting scripture, but what confuses me is that I believe God has a plan, so if we choose (by our own free will) to take a path that is not part of His plan, does God "re-route" us to get back to His predetermined path?
  20. Thank you Not me for your reply. I appreciate your explanation as it speaks to my true character. I don't quote verses often, but I greatly appreciate interpretations that help reinforce my beliefs, as you have done here. I look forward to discussions with you again in the future. May God bless you richly. mlb
  21. Sower, Thank you. I have 4 daughters and your explanation is something I can certainly identify with. It brings a better understanding to me. Thank you Jostler. I learn and understand best by visualizing ideas, therefore your example makes perfect sense! I never could quite get this clear in my mind.
  22. Luke, That's kinda where I have been until recently. I just wonder if our free will may interfere with God's plan and He presents results that re-directs our path to be His will. Does God direct fate or destiny?
  23. Proverbs 16:33 New International Version (NIV) 33 The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord. Is "free will" only a beginning of an action, thought, etc. ?
  24. I have had this question for some time and posed it to a friend the other day, although worded somewhat differently... How much of our life is predetermined by God and how much is free to choose?
