OK, both in your title of your post and in your last sentence here...….you DID ask our opinions.  Twice.

    •  Here's the thing about money and health for some people.  It's never, never, never enough.  And for Christians like this, God is the cosmic genie.  Selfish prayers to God and giving small amounts of money are ways to manipulate God into giving them MORE.
    •  Here's the thing about money and health for other people.  They are content with what life deals to them.  And for Christians like this, God manipulates US.  He uses us as he sees fit.  We may suffer or not.  Be wealthy or not.  But we are content.

Jesus didn't have a place to lay his head.  He was content.  The Apostle Paul experienced mostly want and he was content. My father died a year ago and I put that verse of Paul's in my father's obituary.  "I have learned in ALL circumstances to be content."  In fact, Paul said that he had learned the "secret" of being content.  It was Christ who "gives me strength".  Philippians 4

We must.....we MUST glorify the God of the universe in whatever state we are in.  Sickness or health.  Poverty or wealth.  And to teach that God wants all Christians to have money untold and never be sick is a lie and that's what it preached in the prosperity "gospel".  How many untold Christians have been "let down" and disappointed when they or their loved was not healed and the "big check" didn't come in the mail.  Whom do they blame for it?  God? Their prayers?

The Bible says that we are going to suffer afflictions.  I don't welcome it.  I didn't welcome cancer.  I didn't welcome my father's death.  I didn't welcome epilepsy.  I didn't welcome my brother's handicaps. I didn't welcome being alone at this point in my life.  But I welcome God.  I welcome Christ.  I welcome the Holy Spirit.  I welcome my church.

The Bible says there is a REASON for sufferings -

2 Corinthians 1:3-7 - "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

To teach/preach that if you pray hard enough or give some "seed" money or drink some "miracle spring water"  or buy that prayer shawl from the TV preacher that God will go *poof* and you will be wealthy and healed is a lie.

I don't know what else to say.  It is a lie and it is deceiving people and hurting people.

Thank you for sharing, yes I did ask for your opinion because I wanted to learn, I wanted to know why people were so against it. I had no idea what the term "prosperity preaching" entailed. I assumed that it was preaching that encouraged people, to know God is with them in any situation, that he has great plans for them, plans not to harm them but to prosper them , no matter what life may seem like now. That he is with them and will never forsake them. That's what I thought it was. I believe the forum is here so we can learn from each other, and by this post alone I have learnt a great deal. I believe we can teach each other without bashing each other, I was not desputing that I asked for people's opinion. Thank you again and God bless.

I agree...in fact it promises following Him WILL mean suffering.... no suffering, no glory.  I think it's mincing words to say  He wills it though...He doesn't, but it IS a natural consequence of following Him in a fallen world and letting Him use us to shine a light into the darkness....it's unavoidable to anyone who desires to go where He is at work and be about the Father's business.

Being from South Africa y0u might  not be aware  of just how far overboard some "prosperity" preaching has gone here in the US.  It truly  has become a very unbalanced and frankly  ungodly focus here in my opinion.

It's idolizing mammon with "christianized" excuses for many who have been caught up in it.  I spent a lot of time personally involved with the Word of Faith movement and had  to be corrected by  Him on a good bit of the theology I picked up there.  I don't mean to disparage the movement entirely  because I also learned a lot while involved there.  But at least  some corners of the movement have really gone off the deep end with imbalance and done a lot of damage.

In SA we have fake miracle workers,  hiring actors to play dead, then resurrect them, going to witch doctors for black magic and unknowing people thing these people have powers from God,robbing poor people and lying to them, perhaps this may be the reason why, I did not look deep into prosperity preachers and their  ulterior motives. Thank you for sharing

  3. I think this "prosperity preaching" is more than I thought it was. I thought it was just preachings that encouraged people , I didn't know it meant lying or robbing poor people of their tithes and offerings, in promise of wealth. I just thought it was seeing A in pain and letting them know "greater is he who is with you than the one in the world" and giving hope to the hopeless. Thank you all for sharing your opinion and view on the topic.

Except they do say that what they falsly teach is the word of God. No where in the bible does it say if you give in the collection to God, a 100, then God will give you back 100+.

    As for people being condemned.

Jesus said those who do not believe in him are already condemned.  Your belief is false as God chose those who would follow Jesus before he created the universe. So it follows that he also chose those who would not follow Jesus.

Why are we quick to judge, the point of this forum, is it not to learn more about our faith, thank you for your view, but I disagree with your statement that says my faith is false "I am a born again Christian,  redeemed and saved in the name of Jesus Christ"

  5. I personally have no problem with prosperity preaching, so long as they do not "add to the word of God, or subtract from it" as long as they preach the truth. I believe God never intended for anyone to be condemned, or to suffer, I don't believe in coercive preachings, they result in rebellion.I believe in letting people know the goodness and love of our God and once they know him, they will never think of sinning against him, they will actively seek him and his ways.  There  is a hell, but I won't promote it's existence more than the power of my God. Just my opinion, what's yours?

  6. @Justin Adams the bible says they wonder around looking for bodies to inhabit another theory could it be how they were reproduced, by possesed bodies lol, anyways  it's scary how many people out there are mislead or taught wrong things just because they take the pastors word for it and not examine  the Scriptures themselves Acts 17 says"Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." And because some Christians have just became comfortable with being told what they want to hear, that is why many false prophets and con artists have been able to rob and mislead people. Remember the Protestant and the Roman cathelic  formation was due to Christians believing what they want to hear instead of what scripture says. I too have heard some absurd  teachings in some churches but I do not judge i just live by the scripture I don't let their teaching move me from  God's doctrine. I listen , research, examine the Scriptures than learn. I also pray for the spirit  of discernment and a descending mind, so I can tell when the teaching is contrary to God's word and also tell when it is not God's spirit working through someone. Prayer , Gods word and faith is our weapon against these principalities and if the church have become "yes mans" we are in trouble.

  7. @Justin Adams how interesting and insightful, I also thought it must be manipulation of DNA , but how and by whom? The book of Enoch speaks about how  the fallen angels tought the women about herbs and plants, enchantments, how to access the second heaven etc so DNA manipulation may have been one of those lessons passed down to women by these fallen angels. @Willa I fully agree that it came through Noah, but not him directly, his sons had taken wives, and perhaps one or more wives were decedent of the Nephilims eg: in my family we may have twins , I may not give birth to twins but it is possible for my children to give birth to twins. So maybe "the wife" did not necessarily look as though she had any relation with the Nephilims but was one, therefore her offsprings would show their traits. The Bible "The sons of Ham — Cush, Egypt, Libya and Canaan — were the ancestors of the peoples who bear their names. The descendants of Cush were the people of Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah were the people of Sheba and Dedan. Cush had a son named Nimrod, who became the world's first great conqueror. By the LORD 's help he was a great hunter, and that is why people say, “May the LORD make you as great a hunter as Nimrod!” At first his kingdom included Babylon, Erech, and Accad, all three of them in Babylonia. From that land he went to Assyria and built the cities of Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah, and Resen, which is between Nineveh and the great city of Calah.  The descendants of Egypt were the people of Lydia, Anam, Lehab, Naphtuh, Pathrus, Casluh, and of Crete, from whom the Philistines are descended.  Canaan's sons — Sidon, the eldest, and Heth — were the ancestors of the peoples who bear their names. Canaan was also the ancestor of the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. The different tribes of the Canaanites spread out, until the Canaanite borders reached from Sidon southwards to Gerar near Gaza, and eastwards to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim near Lasha."(Genesis 10) amor it's,  arises oe anakartise, can a antes list goes on were giants and they come from Noahs son Ham's decendants.  "We saw Nephilim there. (The descendants of Anak are Nephilim.) We felt as small as grasshoppers, and that’s how we must have looked to them.”( Numbers 13) anak from anarkites or arkites. So @Justin Adams we get the possible answer by whom, "the wife" may have had knowledge of such manipulation being a decendant of the Nephilim, may have pass down the Knowledge which explains why Canaan had such large fruits etc.( Just my thought and my understanding, it is not fact or doctrine)

This is a prophecy about Christ who would bruise satan's head by dying on  the cross for your sins and then rising from the dead.  This is saying that while it hurt Christ to be tortured to death on the cross (it is compared to only bruising His heal) He bruised satan's head with a fatal blow by destroying his power over death, giving him a slow concussion that will lead to his death.

Heb 2:9  But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

Heb 2:10  For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.

Heb 2:11  For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,  Heb 2:12  saying, "I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise."  Heb 2:13  And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Behold, I and the children God has given me."

Heb 2:14  Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,  Heb 2:15  and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

These were destroyed in Noah's flood.

Gen 6:4  The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, the men of renown.

Gen 6:5  The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  Gen 6:6  And the LORD regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.  Gen 6:7  So the LORD said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them."

Gen 6:8  But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

Gen 6:13  And God said to Noah, "I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Gen 6:14  Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch. Gen 6:15  This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits. Gen 6:16  Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above, and set the door of the ark in its side. Make it with lower, second, and third decks.

Gen 6:17  For behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. Everything that is on the earth shall die.

Gen 6:18  But I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you.

@Willa thanks for you translation and understanding of the scripture.

Yes they were destroyed in the flood. Can I pick your brain a bit. The 12 spies sent to spie on Canaan spot decendents of Nephilims there, how did they survive the flood?

  10.  Satan can never out smart God, God is beyond intelligent and can spot Satan's tactics miles and miles

" the sons of God saw the beautiful women and took any they wanted as their wives."

In this verse we are told that fall angels disemdbodied themselves, left their celestial bodies becausee of lust.  When they did that a new species of men was born, men not in God's plan but most of all men against God's plan. “And I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your descendants and her Descendant. He will crush your head, and you will bruise His heel.”

The womans seed has been contiminated with allies of  Satan,  to undermine God's word , how can the offspring's now crush the serpents head. I am sure Satan thought himself smart, with a species of his own far bigger and with supernatural strength than those of God's beloved human, he didn't see the flood coming, he thought he had the upper hand.

Now remember this when it feels like God's plan for your life had been undermined by giants, when it feels like God's plan has changed concerning your life "no weapon formed against you shall prosper" weapons will form, giants will be born but they will not prosper, because God has seen ahead and has a greater plan. And when he deals with these giants , he will deal with all things that came with them. Rest assured they will be rainbow  at the end of your story, just put your faith in God he has a plan.

    Good morning and God bless.

  11. God cares for us so much that he has obligated himself to help us endure our afflictions, to produce goodness from them, and to resolve them as he deems best. Sometimes we may not understand his method or technique  but we just have to trust in his promise to "never leave us nor forsake us", that he will "come to our aid".

I know God is going to accomplish the work he has started in my life, I just pray that I accept and endure what ever method he has chosen to use to accomplish  it.  Although the thought of another battle terrifies me, I trust that God will give.me the strength to endure because I know that he will "never leave me nor forsake me" "he will come to my aid".

God is fixing something in my life right now, and I know it might not happen the way I want it to , but I know his fixing it though and it will be fixed, and I will testify about it soon. I pray that my faith is not shaken or moved until victory is mine.

    Glory be to YAHWEH
