Can you survive without a cell phone??
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in General Discussion
I've always wondered who were the main culprits behind getting rid of phone booths, even though im sure it was most likely something mutually agreed upon among the major phone companies/carriers but am still very suspicious that the federal govt also played a part in it, but maybe someone else could shed some light on this because it's always been kind of a mystery and something no one ever seems to talk about or even wonder about? -
Can you survive without a cell phone??
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in General Discussion
As far as phone booths go you would probably have to be at least 40 years old to even remember them being around, not that they were ever something you would actually need in an emergency, but i did thought it was pretty cool how movies such as "Wargames" used it, but that was 1983. -
Can you survive without a cell phone??
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in General Discussion
Yeah it's really what they dont ever tell you that is the weirdest or most disturbing thing to me such as whenever you are activating or resetting a phone and are speaking with a CSR who casually tells you to press and hold the "off/on" button which you could very easily confuse with volume buttons, unless you are already very familiar with cell phones in general which they are apparently assuming you are...and why are they usually always Indian speaking people, and some you can hardly even understand?? -
I know this is kind of a weird question for this forum but just couldnt figure out which section to put it in. But basically its a pretty straightforward question, and from my own brief experiences with my last 4 phones, one has been stolen, one lost and 2 with screen damage which rendered them inoperable(one case which i can't explain and just dont ask) Anyway, my main point and question is regarding if anyone can actually be productive and useful(to God or anyone) in today's society without an active cell phone? Because i have been unemployed for a couple of years now and even with a cell phone i've not been able to get a job or really accomplish much of anything, so then i guess my main question is if maybe God is calling certain people such as myself to live without a cell phone or if maybe i just ran into some really bad luck? Because i am definitely NOT at all one of those "off grid" type of people and easily get very bored just sitting around twiddling my thumbs, and it seems to me that playing aound with a cell phone cannot be that much worse, so then what is really the big deal as far as a cell phone being that much of a distraction as long as you are a responsible and sensible minded person??

"And a certain ruler asked him saying, Good master, what shall i do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, why callest me thou good, none is good save one, that is God." {Luke-18:18-19} Actually this is also found in Matthew and Mark, but basically is saying/asking the same thing. And is something i've always wondered about but never really asked anyone or can even remember it being discussed by anyone in depth. Not that there is really a much deeper meaning and may be a simple answer but either way i just always thought since Christ was sinless then why did He refuse to be called "good"? All i can really come up with is maybe it had something to do with being called Master but that would contradict Matthew-23:10.

What is the most important & main message in the Bible?
CaptWalker replied to Vine Abider's topic in General Discussion
I guess that's the 64 million dollar question...? But maybe it's more about what DOESN'T happen that God gets out of it, in that His created children have a means of escape from eternal damnation. Since it is His HOLINESS that is so great and awesome beyond anything we can hardly comprehend that basically can not allow Him to let any form of the unredeemed into His kingdom, even someone who would be considered an occassional sinner and otherwise is a good person. Simple yet still hard to understand and/or accept... -
Simple question that probably 99.9 % of most lazy Christians will answer the same way, but I'll ask anyway. And that is why has the start time for Sunday morning services always been 11AM, when I'm usually wide awake by 7 at the latest(even without coffee) and ready to go for an early morning service, which I feel is the very least i can do for my Lord/Saviour who has already done way more than enough for me... just curious??

"But this I say brethren that the time is short, so that from now on even those who have wives should be as though they had none, those who weep as though they did not weep, those who rejoice as though they did not rejoice, those who BUY as though they did not possess, and those who use this world as not misusing it. For the form of this world is passing away." *1st Corinthians-7:29-31*

You might be right, but I think it will most likely be a much more mental/emotional attachment to this world leader/system which would be so much more powerful and legitimate than some electronic chip. Because how could "they" convince most people to get such a "mark" when so many are already even refusing to get a simple vaccination which is probably harmless?? Bottom line is the Antichrist/Satan is and will be someone to be WORSHIPPED much more than some "mark" which will really only be a confirmation of one's allegiance to this Beast system, IMO.

Should abortion be banned??
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well however you look at she's not the one actually taking it's life but I suppose God would consider her to be an equal accomplice in the act? But since I'm not a woman and so am not going to pass any such judgement when I will never experience all the emotions they must be going through in having to decide what to do which will impact the rest of there life, even if they have the baby when they never really wanted to. But that's really besides the point, which my original one being more about whether all unborn babies go back to the Father that created them. And for that matter any child that has not reached that age of accountability required to make rational decisions that they then would be held responsible for. Because I've done and said some pretty bad things when I wasn't even 10 years old that now I can only wonder just WTH was I thinking?! But I just don't see how God would judge such a child as that to hell when they have not ever heard or been able to comprehend the true Gospel message, and very well could have become born again later in life. But I know the Bible doesn't say either way but maybe that's just because the answer is so obvious?? -
Should abortion be banned??
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well the only scenario where I would say all aborted babies don't go to heaven is if God simply judged each one at that point, as to where they would have ended up when there lives were done. But that sounds way too much like predestination to me. Otherwise if God already knows who's going where then what's the point of us even being here to begin with?? Anyway I thought there was another verse about it other than Ecclesiastes 6:3 but just can't recall? -

All I know about incest and rape is what the OT laws say as far as the perpetrator being put to death. But nowadays they actually may not even get 10 years in prison, so then I feel the same should apply for the victims as far as what they decide to do. Either way it is an abomination to God for a preteen to be raped, period. -
I know this has been asked before on this forum but given what is going on now with the elections coming up and what most Christians believe as being Gospel truth/Trump.... I just needed to ask it. And that is basically this...if all unborn/innocent infants do go to heaven then should all reasons/circumstances for abortion be banned, even for a preteen girl who was raped, or a woman whos life will be endangered by giving birth? (Ecclesiastes-6:3)

"Behold, bless ye the Lord all ye servants of the Lord, which by night stand in the house of the Lord. "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord." (Psalms 134:1-2)

"When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. "Because thou has been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice." (Psalms 63:6-7)

So I have a pretty basic understanding of this from what I have heard taught in it, even though that is very little if anything by most Bible teachers/preachers. But, I still feel like there is a lot of confusion about it, such as when you might get very angry about your circumstances and blame it on God for causing/allowing these things to happen, which to many is basically the same thing. Anyway I myself have also verbally lashed out at God before even after I was saved, but it was more like a momentary lapse of reason kind of thing. Still the real question is what exactly did Christ mean by saying this. Because I have even heard that it's not possible to commit this sin until Antichrist is here and you take the Mark of the Beast and go along with what he will be proclaiming as far as being equal to God the Father, and thus no longer needing the Holy Spirit. But my own interpretation as to why he said it is from what it says in Mark- 3:30... "Because they said, he has an unclean spirit." Meaning they were accusing him of being able to do miracles by being possessed. Now the way I see it unless you had done anything less than denouncing the miracles Christ performed then you are not guilty of this. But at the same time there are those like I mentioned who believe it has nothing to do with what occurred during Christ's ministry but will be something entirely different. Now I won't mention where I heard such teachings about this but right now am really just wanting others opinions on it. Thanks...

Anyone else feel "black-listed"?
CaptWalker replied to CaptWalker's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Well I can definitely relate to that even though my path has probably been a lot more predictable with me simply being under qualified or having a sketchy past employment history with a violation of company policy which is obviously a BIG red flag! And so they don't even have to give any excuses as to why you were rejected, and maybe they would prefer to waste a 15 minute interview on someone like me because they pretty much know I will never be questioning why. But as far as Indeed goes I pretty much had my suspicions as to just how legit there job postings were/are. Actually the only real luck I've had was from applying directly to the company website, and I've even called Walmart stores after applying and still not been called back to come in, that is for the stores that I could actually get ahold of someone in human resources! And don't even get me started on any fast food experiences such as McDonald's who have never even been remotely interested in hiring someone like myself whether or not they had ever met me face to face, but it is what it is. And sure there will always be those people who say how there are jobs everywhere and you can always just get a job flipping burgers if nothing else...well actually it's not quite that simple nowadays. -
Well I wasnt referring to those "pew sitter" types who never really received salvation and the Holy Spirit in the true way Christ and the Word defines it. But i really don't like mentioning them because I feel like I'm judging and I know it offends a lot of people. But yes as far as how God will judge those half-hearted "fence sitters" I do believe those verses you quoted are primarily referring to them, but also to the rest in that crowd that Christ was addressing at the time, including those hypocritical scribes and pharisees. But as for those who have at least been seeking to do good works, no matter how many or few, I do believe their efforts will be honored and rewarded.
-
Even though i would agree that God is not going to be judging us by our works as to whether He can accept us into His kingdom, I also believe He will most definitely be looking very closely at what we have done in our lives to serve others and in doing so serving him, in the sense of what Christ said about "whatever you have done for one of the least of these". But also i am well familiar with the "Paulinist" mindset and how they view this subject. In fact as i have alluded to before, they almost come to the point of completely ignoring the book of James and feel as if it was somehow put into the Canon of scriptures by mistake?! But i really dont think it is in any way inferior to any of the epistles of Paul, since if they left out that great book of ENOCH then what James had to say must have been and still is very important to know, period!

Well as far as this parable goes I think you have explained it very well. But there is still the question of just what the definition of "works" is? I personally believe it to be doing whatever you can to help as someone else, no matter how insignificant it may seem to be. I really feel that the connection you are making in that interaction is really what truly matters and what it's all about. My mom has told me of at least 3 times when the person in front of her in the drive thru had paid for her order. And really it could be as simple as that if you feel suddenly led to do something like that in an otherwise insignificant scenario. But you never know how much it will mean to that person!? But I really think as long as you are seeking and trying to do good works then God will provide that opportunity, but you just have to be ready for it or you could miss it.

Well I've never heard of him but am definitely interested in knowing more about what happened in that particular year!! Wikipedia doesn't really say much about him.

Most Christians are completely unaware that Passover was also considered the High Sabbath day, which would explain how Christ could have risen on the first day of the week. Because He wasn't actually crucified on a Friday but on a Wednesday. Actually I believe that the greatest Sabbath ever occurred on Wednesday, 4/28/28 AD. But just my opinion. Either way I think we should always try to set a day or time of "rest" to renew your mind/spirit in communion and fellowship with God.

"He has shown you oh man what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:8) I think pretty much sums it all up and far as our primary purpose here. But as far as figuring out exactly what God might want you to do is really up to you/me to figure out. But in verse 7 before this one it is talking about how God is not that impressed with our personal "sacrifices" and what you might be giving up in order to follow and serve Him. But I truly believe He is much more pleased when we simply take all the focus off ourselves and put it on others and how you can help them. And that is really what gives you a reason to live when you are more concerned about others than yourself, or at least as much. But I'm still trying to be more like this myself and to stop feeling so useless to God and others. Bottom line is that all you can do is all you can do, whatever that may be? And if God wants you to do more then I believe He will provide an opportunity to do so when you are seeking it with all your heart.

"For Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; But the sorrow of the world produces death." (2nd Corinthians -7:10) So I just wanted to get someone else's opinion on what this "sorrow" is all about, because I really think it goes a whole lot deeper into the very essence of the human soul, and is not just some simple "repent or perish" kind of thing. But that's just how I'm seeing it.
