  2. A cornerstone of the gospel, love your neighbor as you love yourself makes for a magnificent ideology of considerable depth. The loving one's self part of it is crucial because we need to love ourselves before we can love others. This is because love is empathy and we cannot empathize with people's difficulties and identify with the difficulty of their plight, if we are so absorbed by self-loathing that we do not see fit to desire our own well-being, this type of self-loathing scenario has become a prominent part of society. One needs to be able to look in the mirror and love what one sees, one needs to be able to look inwards and recognize that one is a beautiful, special creation. When one does this one is then able to focus outwards and make society a better one, love must manifest in action or it is meaningless. This process is not to be confused with sinful pride and ego trips. An African theologian said, "the highest purpose of God in creation is for us to reach the fullness of our humanity". This is largely another way of phrasing love your neighbor as you love yourself and the process of reaching this level of humanity needs to start with us. We need to look within ourselves and recognize that we are special, if Jesus thinks we are special, who are we to say we are not?
  3. Philippians 3:20 says we are citizens of heaven, the implications of this are very interesting and are an emphasis of what we see in Galatians chapter 5. As we are exiles on earth, earth is not our true place, and if we are to identify with the spiritual kingdom of heaven as our true place and destiny, then we must identify with our spirit rather than our flesh which is of the earth. The flesh is not the real you, the spirit is. It's interesting when we consider this, how although we might feel so compelled by flesh issues, in our true state we would believe it or not, consider them completely insignificant. We may be walking down the streets of New York and other places, but our feet should be moving to the rhythm of above, and we place our feet in the footsteps Jesus left for us.
  4. In this dark age, it has become fashionable to acquire gain and accomplish success, by exploiting people in unscrupulous ways. By many in business, values of integrity are seen as old fashioned. For this reason, Christians tend to be regarded as weak and feeble because of their values of integrity. We Christians have these values because our faith is one of love in practice. However, we see by the sacrifice on the cross that love is true metal, and love is for the strong and not the weak. That is why Jesus is called the lion and the lamb. That is why good will conquer evil and light will overcome darkness. This brings to life, the principle that love is meaningless if it does not manifest in action, and examples of this can range from a reassuring smile to the sacrifice of life itself. In this current war of light versus darkness, God is calling for conquering lions, indeed it takes a lion to be a lamb.
  5. What do you think of this great gospel track that is so fitting in these turbulent times?
