  1. I enjoy watching Dr. Phil most of the time. He usually gives pretty "right on" advice. I don't believe he's a Christian. He's never really done anything that made me thought that.(not saying he isn't. He could be He has common sense, and I think he's a pretty cool guy.
  2. I think you should continue to love him, and talk to Him about Jesus, and that he is sinning. Homosexuality is just like every other sin, treat it that way. Undecided frog is right, it's not a contagious disease. My first cousin in gay, and has been living with his "partner" for over 10 years. I love my cousin, he's a great guy, but he's lost, and needs Jesus. You only had one choice up there to vote for, so I didn't vote. Do you feel that your brother being around his nephew is harming the nephew? Is there some sort of threat there or harm that would come to the child? If so, I would say I would limit the time and make sure they weren't alone. But, just because he's a homosexual doesn't mean that he's going to harm the child. I would pray about it, ALOT, and then go from there.

    Women Pastors

I don't believe women are to be in a leadership position such as being a Minister,or Pastor. I believe women can teach classes, etc, but not preaching from the pulpit. Our Bibles are quite clear on the qualifications one must have to be a Pastor. They should be in women's ministries, sunday school classes, etc. Women are to teach other women how to love their husband, love their children, and care for their homes, etc.
  4. Yeah, I'm checking this out and I know for us... we make ALOT of calls, long distance, etc. His family is in ARizona, and mine are in maine and Florida.. and we're going to be living in Washington state next month.. so I'm thinking it would just be cheaper for us to have a reg cell-phone, they have some great plans, for not that much.
  5. it could depend on your screen resolution. It never causes me a problem, because we have ours at 1024 x 768, alot of people though could have it at 800 x 600, and that could make people have to scroll.
  6. Oh great! thanks for the info. I'm not sure what we'll do but thanks for the info
  7. no one? lol. Gosh.. Maybe if someone could check out the site, and let me know what you think.. does it look... ok? Er.. I dunno what I'm asking, lol. just really curious if this looks worth it, or a waste of money.
  8. I agree with catsmeow. Before I accepted Christ, I never once thought of dressing in a provocative way, and neither did the people I hung out with. The LOST don't know any better. Why should they? Why should we expect Christian behavior out of the non Christians? we can't. They are only living for themselves, and for the emotions of the moment. one of the songs that kept playing in my head after I became a Christian was the song "Fill my cup, Lord" "Like the woman at the well, I was seeking, for things that could not satisfy, but then, I heard my Savior speaking. Draw from my well, that never shall run dry." It was an amazing feeling. It was such a change, and before that, I was in darkness, I didn't know better, even though I had grown up in a Christian home around CHRISTIANs all the time. I didn't care what THEY thought. I was doing what made ME happy.
  9. Hey all. My husband and I heard about this from someone and they really liked it. I was wondering if anyone has used this as an alternative to a regular cell phone. It looks more in our price range, and since we have no credit really, it would be easier for us to use. Comments are appreciated. TracFone PS. We've have a horrible time trying to get a home phone connected. It has been almost 2 months, and they still haven't hooked it up. They made us send all this proof of ID, etc, and still.. no service. We are moving in 6 weeks, so we're going to just tell the phone company to forget it, but we really need a phone to be in contact with people. So, it looks like a good idea.
  10. gosh.. the more I read over these posts.. the less important it seems. I was just reading in another post, how Paul had written that the actions weren't forbidden it was the reason behind them. And.. most of you for halloween are right on here. You just eat candy, hang out with your family, and have fun. It's not about devil worship, etc, for any of you. And.. I feel bad that I've been so stubborn about this, and I feel really stupid. I just wanted to apologize. It is pretty legalistic. I'm usually not so.. uptight about this stuff. I just have never cared for it much..
  11. Oh, I also meant to mention Jesus Freaks vol. 1 and 2 by DcTalk, with help of "Voice of the Martyrs. It's like fox's book of martyrs, but it's geared towards teenagers more. I LOVE these books, they have been so humbling to read what Christians Today are going through.
  12. It would be great if those people would change their hearts, and realize they are being stumbling blocks to others.
  13. well, what would everyone suggest doing about those people? Kick them out of church? Start a dress code for church?
  14. usually they aren't Christians, the ones who wear those kinds of clothes. You have to define what is immodest. What is immodest to one person, isn't to another.
  15. here are some I really like, and think would be great additions to a Christian bookstore "The power of a praying wife"- Stormie Omartian "Stepping Heavenward"- Elizabeth Prentiss "A Woman After God's own Heart"- Elizabeth George Those are all I can think of right now.
  16. The view of what is modest, and what isn't modest changes with culture and society. I think what a person wears is up to them, providing it isn't showing PRIVATE parts, or their clothing says things like "pornstar" Which OBVIOUSLY is wrong. A Christian needs to prayerfully consider what they wear and why they want to wear it. I don't think women should where clothing that is obviously trying to get the attention of men, but I don't think that we should have to cover everything up, because some guys can't control their lust, or where their eyes roam. I don't have a problem with women wearing two piece bathing suits. i don't see anything wrong with shorts, or spaghetti strap tanks, etc. Anyways, its something each of us have to prayerfully consider.
  17. Hmm, I know alot of people have tattoos that don't show. That is YOUR opinion of "tacky" and "cheap" my step mom has a cute little butterfly on her left ankle, I don't think it makes her look "cheap" or "tacky". It's cute, and I don't believe there is anything wrong with tatoos. Everyone has a choice on his or her's appearance. I don't think God cares one way or the other. Maybe He does, I don't know, but I don't see anything in the Bible about it, in the NT. The Law contains some very strict rules on eating practices as well. The same people who are against peircings, and tattoos should be eating according to the Law, etc.
  18. Do you do all of these things?
  19. He's married. He's quite a bit older than you. He's your TEACHER. You're underage. All these things are a BAD combination. Please pray, and do not make this step towards hurting yourself. This man is MOST likely not interested in anything other than your body. Undecided Frog, and Tess got it right. Please heed their advice, and do not pursue this relationship with an older, MARRIED Man.
  20. We haven't seen anyone post anything where the NT says anything about tatoos. the OT has MANY laws, that God ordained for the Israelites. So, are you saying we are still under OT law? We should all follow ALL of the OT laws, then. We can't pick and choose what we want out of the Bible.
  21. Hi Salem, Welcome to WorthyBoards. GodBless.
  22. I said my FAMILY had always gone trick or treating with the other kids etc. My family doesn't really share my beliefs on this. But I do not celebrate it by going out trick or treating, or whatever everyone else feels is so important to do on halloween. I do spend alot of time doing bible studies with my family, mostly my stepdad, but how is that running and hiding, or how is my "story" not matching up? I'm a little confused here. What? I do feel oppressed at halloween. When I see kids running around in demon costumes, parents, and teenagers too. When I see the horrible movies that are on that night, when I hear about the vandelism that goes on, etc. I do NOT like halloween, I can't help the way I feel. And most of the time the only way of getting rid of that is praying, and reading God's word. I don't run and hide, I spend the evening in my HOME, doing what I normally do. No, I'm sure that my parents took me out as a very young child many times. when I was about 4-5 I started hating it, and I didn't go with my family trick or treating anymore. My mom would always take my siblings out (still does, since I have 4 young ones at home still) and my step dad watched me and my brother, who didn't care for it either. A reputable source? What do you consider a reputable source? I could post ANYTHING here and you could say.. oh that's not a reputable source, because YOU will believer what you want to believe. I have a large list of sources, and news articles on human and animal sacrifices, but I don't want to post them here. I'm sure there are some younger kids and teenagers that have read this post, and I don't want to upset anyone. If you'd care to look at them, I'll pm them. Yes, have you? Not all Satanists are into that kind of stuff. Most of them aren't. The ones who are, are usually into more Voodoo kinds of stuff, and practice black magic. They will deny the practices themselves, either because they have not experienced them, or because well, it's obviously, ILLEGAL. I think the people who have done this get taken over, and don't realize what they are doing. This isn't really a matter of believing what you want to believe. Because the things that happen are fact. You have yet to supply anything that can be considered a "reputable source". what evidence do you have to back up your beliefs that Christians haven't always thought halloween to be bad? Or that ritual killings of animals and people(mostly babies and humans) don't happen anymore? I'm gonna drop this subject, cause it's just causing an argument. My personal believe as a Christian, is that I can't in good conscience, go out and celebrate halloween. For me, I'll treat it like every other day. I know bad things happen every day of the year, I know it's not just halloween. But I REALLY fail to see how going trick or treating and celebrating halloween is a good witness to non believers, or how it "converts" anyone? It's one thing to witness to people, but how many people do it? The ones who celebrate it are usualyl just going out to have fun, like everyone else, not saying that it's wrong to have fun, but not all fun is good. How do you be a light to others on Halloween? I'm not picking on you in particular, or pointing my fingers at anyone. I've shared my beliefs on this subject, like everyone else.
  23. Well, it doesn't really MATTER what our opinions are, because God's Word is clear that we aren't to be yoked(be together, form a commitment, which includes marriage) with non believers. Second of all, WHY waste your time dating someone you aren't and SHOULD NOT marry?
