  1. DH and I have had Verizon for 4 years and we love it. The service is great, and our phones are great. Their plans are good too. I have a phone through my mom's cell service and I HATE their service, it's US Cellular. My dad has Nextel and hates them. He's had them for years, but has been in a contract.
  2. Thank you! That answers alot of questions!
  3. I'm curious about how it all works. My Husband and I are going, but I'm feeling uneasy about leaving our 4 month old Daughter overnight with my mom. Just trying to figure out if it's feasible to take her with us, or if she's better off at home. Is there places to sit? Is it hugely loud? I'm just not sure what to do. I desperately want to go with my husband to DC, but I'm torn about leaving our baby.
  4. I want to thank everyone for the responses. The couple are currently taking a break and seeking out God on this matter. As far as we can tell this relationship is LEGAL, and so that's not an issue. They are just not wanting to do anything against the Bible. They grew up knowing each other, but the mother of the boy always said the girl was NOT her sister (even though she is her half sister, she wouldn't accept it. It's really funny how fast she pulled that card when she found out about the relationship). The boy's family are basically telling him he'll go to Hell if he stays in the relationship because it's against the Bible, we're just trying to seek God and find out what the truth about it is. They seem to be on the same genetic level as first cousins. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
  5. I know a couple who are half aunt and nephew (the same age) and they have fallen for each other. Is this type of relationship covered under those verses? I've been trying to help them find information about their relationship. Here are some websites that show how related they are, as far as genetics go. They are on the same level it appears as 1st cousins. I would love some incite to this, and whether or not their relationship is a sin. http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/b...ed_parents?open http://fabpedigree.com/consang.htm
  6. I agree that you should tell your pastor or youth pastor. Iryssa said it right. I definitely think this is a situation where you could possibly be in danger, and you need to be in a safe place. One thing that kinda stuck in my head is about you saying there was a man from your church you've been confiding in. Please be careful about confiding in men.. I don't know who this man is, or anything about it, and I may be completely off. Is he married? Are you confiding and seeking advice from he AND his wife? As a youth pastor's wife, I can't stress the importance of men not being alone with young women and giving them advice. My husband never counsels, or gives advice to the young women in our youth group without me being there. Just something to think about. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this situation, just remember to keep bringing it to the Lord, and praying for your brother and family.
  7. I'm so sorry for the abuse you and your children had to endure. Just know there are many people praying for you. I believe you did the right thing for leaving that man. Don't worry about others judging you, they can't even begin to know what you went through. God Bless.
  8. Exactly.. sometimes the answer is just no, because God knows what is best for us.
  9. I'm also not going to say to stop thinking about marriage. I'm 19, I'm married and have a child. Dh and I met at 15, and knew from that time we wanted to be married. DO take your time though and make sure you've married someone who loves the Lord, and is committed to Him, even before you. Marriage isn't easy, make sure you are saving your money, and agree on things before you get into a relationship. I am AGAINST dating around, I think it does more damage than anything else. Just pray and ask the Lord to be your comfort you don't want to marry out of desperation, or loneliness.
  10. Is that the one in Torquay?? If Bibles spread MRSA then presumably, everything that can be moved should be to stop the infection.... However, if hospitals were cleaned properly, it would help stop the spread anyway. Plus simple things like not removing equipment etc from Isolation Wards (which are full of people that have caught MRSA) aren't taken into normal wards... a few years ago (before MRSA really hit the news) my gran was in hospital and mum was visiting her in the isolation ward and a nurse came in and was going to take something (can't remember what) from the isolation ward into the normal ward. My mum had to stop her. With stuff like this going on, is it any surprise that MRSA is spreading so rapidly?? Anyway, back to the original point... in a supposedly Christian country with a supposedly Christian Prime Minister (/wannabe President) how can anyone justify removing a Bible from anywhere?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I see what you have quoted is something I didn't say. Serrae said it. If you could change that, that would be great. Thanks!
  11. Well I was including the Jewish folks in that percentage. The information was that 86% of Americans identify themselves as Christian, and 4% as Jewish. Ergo the 90% figure I came up with. Now, I do fully understand and agree with your point. But the point was trying to be made that this nation was something other than Christian, that is simply not true, it wasn't true in 1775 and it is not true now. I do not wish to live in a theocracy of any religion, even a Christian one, but to deny our heritage is Christian is the basest form of denial and dishonesty by anyone who will seriously try to put that forward. Especially as some sort of justification for the secularization of America. Sadly, it is true that many who profess to be Christian, are not. They live a life openly hostile to God's wishes for His children. I am still not free from sin, but my life is not led in a manner hostile or against the wishes of God as given us by His Word. I used to be one of those that did, now I struggle every day to try to be closer to what God would have me be. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you read my post you'll see that I said our country was founded on Biblical Principles. That does NOT make this country Christian. Individuals are Christians, a country can't be "Christian". I'm not trying to deny that our country was founded on Godly Principles, or that people used to actually have morals. Yes, such a large percentage claim to be "Christian" but I guarantee you the actual percentage of true believers is MUCH MUCH less. People call themselves "Christian", meaning they aren't buddhist, Muslim, pagan, etc. They go to church occasionally, may believe there is a God, and think if they do the "right" thing they are "okay". That is NOT christianity, and unfortunately so many people view it like that.
  12. I'm not sure exactly about what I think. I definitely know how it feels to have teens acting out in church. My husband and I are our teen youth leaders, and alot of the time the Pastor has to tell them during the service to be quiet. I personally wouldn't say anything, because I feel it's the parent's responsibility to make them behave. I would approach the parents and talk to them about it, or quietly ask the kids to be quiet. I don't think people should be mad at you, because those teens need to be quiet and respectful in church. If they aren't there to listen, and obviously don't want to be there, they shouldn't be.
  13. Yes, I would like to see proof of that as well. Sorry to break it to you, but this is NOT a Christian Country. This country was founded on moral and biblical principles but that's about it. How can a country be Christian? Obviously not everyone here is Christian. The only thing we can do is to pray for our leaders, and pray Christian leaders get into office. We can make rules that make people have to BEHAVE morally, but that doesn't change their hearts towards God, or make them Christian.
  14. I don't think there is ANYTHING wrong with dating or marrying someone of a different race. As someone else said, we are all part of the HUMAN race, and just because we are different colors doesn't change that. The only thing that is important is your relationship with the Lord. If my daughter found an awesome man of God that loved her, why should I care what race he was? That is what I would be worrying about with my children, not the race of the person they were seeing, but the intention behind their dating, and their commitment to God.
  15. I'm really sorry about your husband leaving. Being pregnant is tough enough without adding to it. Do you know the Lord? Do you have family and friends around you to support you? If you are a Believer pray for your husband, trust that God knows what He's doing, or allowing you to go through. He will take care of you, and your child. God Bless.
  16. We have everything in writing.
  17. We have read all the sites on renters rights etc. We do not have someone lined up for our apartment. We live in quite a large complex, and our property manager told us there are 20 1 bedroom apartments that they have empty right now. Obviously ours isn't any more important than the already empty ones. We are legally responsible to pay the rent until they can find someone else to fill the apt, or our lease is up. We do not want to take the chance that the apt might sit empty for several months. By paying the lease termination fee (which is much lower than what the other options COULD turn out to be), we are freed from our lease, and our credit and rental history do not suffer.
  18. I can only imagine how hard it would be to have your son away from you living with someone else. However, if he was happy there I would leave him. You could slowly start rebuilding your relationship with him over time, but moving him would probably just make him resent you. Just try to see him as much as you can, and let him know you care about him. I also want to second all the questions Dave asked. God Bless.
  19. Hey, thanks for the reply. We had a meeting with our property manager, and he said they have a deal where you just pay a lease termination fee, which is equivalent to about another month's rent, it keeps your credit good, and they'll still give us a good rental reference We're very happy with that option, God is so good, He really worked that out for us. I've posted about that here before, and had been quite worried. Thank you all for your prayers and suggestions! Now, we'll be moving at the end of April!!! God Bless.
  20. Hi everyone..I'm sure you remember me from my previous post about breaking the lease. Now, I have a new question. We will be breaking our lease (we have a couple people interested in renting it), and we want to put it in writing. We will be giving a 60 day notice, and I'm not sure what I should include, how it should be written out, etc. I've tried looking online this morning at examples of how to write it out... but I'm not really finding anything. so, I thought maybe you all would have some good ideas! Maybe if you know of a website I could refer too, or something that would help. Again, thanks. God bless.
  21. Pretty much same here.. accept.. I'm still 18.. and it's only been 7 months, lol. Don't worry, the right one will come when the time is right. God knows best. I wasn't looking for my husband either, he just.. happened to be someone I met at the right time. I know God will bring you your husband when the time is right! God Bless
  22. I think any type of music is ok to listen to, (secular or not) as long as the words aren't offensive, cussing, against what we believe as Christians, etc. There are many good secular artists out there. I don't agree with your pastor, or those that said if you have to ask, it probably isn't ok. You're asking because your pastor has told you this, or said it at some point. The church I grew up in had a pastor that said similiar things, it isn't scriptural and IS a form of legalism. It made alot of people go there, not even question what the pastor was saying about it, their logic was "The pastor said it, so it MUST be true" What his own personal opinions are on music isn't what the Bible says about it. Even if he personally feels convicted to not listen to secular music because it stumbles him that is fine, but it isn't fine to tell other people they should never listen to secular music. There is certain music I feel convicted not to listen to, that other Christians feel it's fine to listen to. I believe this falls within the category of what stumbles each of us personally.
  23. I don't have an issue with rap(the music) I DO have a problem with the lyrics. 99.9% of the time they are offensive, vulgar, and VERY ungodly. I know of at least 3-4 Christian Rap artists that I would consider acceptable. I do not, however think you need to be bringing regular rap into your Sunday school class, there isn't anything to discuss really. If the lyrics are bad, don't listen to it.
  24. I've always enjoyed listening to Ravi Zacharias on the radio
  25. Well, if God wanted people who have had strokes alive, wouldn't he have healed them? If God wanted people born with spina bifida, or downs syndrome here, wouldn't he have healed them by now? If God wanted babies here at all wouldn't he have made it so that they wouldn't have to rely on someone else to feed them? If God wanted any sick people here or people with disabilities here, wouldn't he have healed them? I just think that just because she can't talk or walk, or move around, doesn't mean ANYONE has the right to starve her to death. She isn't in a coma, or on life support, or on a breathing tube. She just needs a feeding tube. I don't think just because we don't think her life is serving a purpose means she should be starved. There are many people here on this earth unable to "serve a purpose"
