  1. The Ebonite's where one of the first Christian groups in Israel. They believed in Jesus and keeping the Law of God. They rejected the teachings of Paul because he spoke against the Law of God. Many believe that James was the primary leader of this Christian group.
  2. What confused me is there are two types of Messianic Jews: 1) Jews who believe in a future messianic messiah, but not Jesus. 2) Jews who believe in Jesus of Nazareth as the Messiah. Yes, many orthodox Jews reject Jews who believe in Jesus of Nazareth as Messiah as not real Jews. They teach any Jew who believes in Jesus have accepted a false Messiah/Idol and has abandon/apostate the teachings of Judaism. Its strange because you can be agnostic or atheist Jew but if you believe in Jesus your out!!!!
  3. Thanks for the update but still confused by what your asking.
  4. Hmmm....Messianic Jews do believe there will be a Jewish Messiah, they just don't believe its Jesus of Nazareth. They believe he will be a descendant of King David as scriptures declare and as Moses taught that he will be an Israelite. Where you getting this information??? Messianic Jews are solid on that stance.
  5. Its pretty clear from Jesus's teachings that only few will be saved and the majority cast out. Even Peter say the righteous will be scarcely saved on judgement day. Its a scary thought but his why Jesus warned us repeatedly, even more reason why we need to strive in our pursuit for God. Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive [work fervently] to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all [ye] workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you [yourselves] thrust out. And they shall come from the east, and [from] the west, and from the north, and [from] the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. - Luk 13:23-29 KJV "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide [is] the gate and broad [is] the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. "Because narrow [is] the gate and difficult [is] the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. - Mat 7:13-14 NKJV "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. "Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' - Mat 7:21-23 NKJV For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely [hardly] be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls [to him] in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. - 1Pe 4:17-19 KJV
  6. Misconstrued concepts is a challenge everyone has and deals with especially when it comes to religious matters. We all have certain prejudice and bias and they are hard to overcome, but a wise person will not judge a matter until they understand both sides of the matter.
  7. God never said he created other planets. God created 1 Sun, 1 Moon, and 1 Earth and stars for lights for the earth. Yet we are told there are billions upon billions of Suns, Earth like planets and Moons. Did you know the word planet comes from the Greek word 'planeos' which means to deceive. Why are all the so-called planets named after Greek and Roman gods??? I believe we have been lied to and deceived about a lot things about our earth and its origins in order to conceal the truth about our Creator: Big Bang, Earth 4.6 Billions Years Old, Evolution, Moon Landing, Interplanetary Space Travel. According to our overlords, earth is just another insignificant planet among trillions and trillions of other suns, planets, and moons. They would have you believe we are an insignificant speck of star dust in a godless universe and it all happened by chance over billions of years. Aliens from other planets is the new deception being pushed on us and the Pope wants to get them baptized. God said that the stars of heaven will fall upon the earth as figs in last days. Could you imagine stars landing on our earth when we are told, stars are suns that are millions and billions x bigger than the earth...something is massively wrong with that picture. God told Gideon to tell the Sun and Moon stop moving in order to make the day last twice as long and instantly they stopped. How is that possible if we are the ones moving/spinning around the Sun and not the other way around? God should have correctly told Gideon tell the earth to stop moving/spinning. The problem with that is, if the earth suddenly stopped we would all be ejected into space from the force of the stop and loss of gravity, being that the earth spins at 1000 miles per hour according to science. This is not even factoring in the speed which we are traveling around the Sun (66,000 mph). Maybe they were just ignorant goat herders and God intentional lied to them because he did not want to confuse them on the science, or maybe we are the ones who have been lied to about the nature of God's creation.
  8. Because I can not find another place to post this type of question. Figured I would ask it in the welcome section.
  9. Your argument is not with me but with Scriptures. Yes, David took responsibility for this sin, but never the less he was enticed by Satan to do it. Both are true. Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel. - 1Ch 21:1 NKJV
  10. I think your getting into the weeds here. Yes, ultimately it is our fault when we sin no matter who is doing the enticing. David took responsibility for HIS sin even though the scriptures clearly says Satan enticed him. Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. - Jas 1:12-15 KJV
  11. So what is that you did not like about what I said???
  12. Mods, I use to have the ability to delete post I made but for some reason I don't have the ability any long. I have seen others delete their own post but not me. Trying to figure out what is going on with my account. Jedi
  13. Satan is a very mysterious character. It does seem that Satan works for God in trying and testing the faithfulness of his people. Adam & Eve, Job, David, even Jesus was tested by Satan.
  14. I really enjoy small group bible studies where everyone gets to participate to the study. Its a much more intimate environment where you actually get to know each other and learn from each other. I been a part of small home church that follow that model and it seems the early church followed that model. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. ... And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. - Act 2:42, 46-47 KJV
  15. I am not saying God's word ever contradicts its self. Often its our faulty understand and other times is just a mis-translation. This is why I study different bibical text and translations to get the true meaning. I somewhat agree with your interpretation between the two reference. Yes, Satan is the one actually doing the inciting for David to take the census, but it was also due to God's anger with Israel and God allowed Satan to tempt David.
  16. Of course lineage matters. If Jesus was born of a gentile he could not be the Messiah according the scriptures. In order for Jesus to be King of Israel he had to be a descendant of David (Judah) according to scripture, but being that his mother was also the daughter of Aaron gives him dual right to be High priest as well. He is both King and Priest.
  17. Anne I appreciate your thoughts and wisdom, you seem well educated in the scriptures. Question are saying Messiah is a Levite? I was doing a study on this not too long ago. That Mary is a close relative to Elizbeth whom was considered a descendant of Aaron (Levite). Which makes perfect sense that Mary was also a descendant of Aaron being that they are relatives. According the Law only a Levite and more specifically a descendant of Aaron could only serve as a Priest. Scriptures makes it clear that Joseph Jesus's non-biological father was from the tribe of Judah, but it seems Jesus's biological mother Mary was a daughter of Aaron (Levite). This would give Jesus perfect right to be a priest even more High Priest.
  18. In one place place in scripture it says God incited David to take the census, then in another area it says Satan incited David to take a census. Explain that one??? In the Septuagint LXX text they both say Satan incited David. IMO opinion the LXX text is much more accurate then the Masoretic KJV text. 1 Chronicles 21 (ESV) Then Satan stood against Israel and incited David to number Israel. 2So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army, “Go, number Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, and bring me a report, that I may know their number.” 2 Samuel 24 (ESV) Again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, “Go, number Israel and Judah.” 2So the king said to Joab, the commander of the army, who was with him, “Go through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, and number the people, that I may know the number of the people”
  19. I didn't see any conditional statements in the examples that I gave. I specifically chose them because of that.
  20. What is the difference between an oath and what God says? Isn't God's word stronger than any oath?
  21. Does God change his mind? We often read about how God does not change and that he is not one who can lie (Num 23.19), but, yet there are many examples where it clearly states God changed his mind. For instance, God told Jonah to go declare his judgement on the people of Nineveh (Syrian Gentile City) because their evil has come before me and tell them in 40 days, I am going destroy their city (Jonah 3). So, Jonah goes and preaches that in 40 days judgement is coming. The people of Nineveh decided on their own to fast and repent. God then stated: And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did [it] not. - Jon 3:10 KJV Jonah become angry with God for changing his mind because now he looks like a false prophet and wanted to die. God told Jonah that he should be happy that he changed his mind and spared many thousands of people. -------------------- After Moses went up the Mountain to receive the Commandments. The people of Israel rebelled and sinned against God and built an Idol (Gold Calf) and worshipped it and called it their god (Ex 32). God became wrathful and told Moses, I am going to destroy these people and build you a new nation. Moses pleaded with God to spare Israel and asked God to repent of this evil plan that you have against your people and the scripture state: And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. - Exo 32:14 KJV ----------------- God sent Isaiah the Prophet to go tell King Hezekiah that he was going to die from his sickness (Isa 38.1). King Hezekiah wept before the Lord and said, I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart and have done what was good in your sight. Scriptures says: Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years. - Isa 38:5 KJV -------------------- There are many other examples where God said he was going to do something but later changed his mind. So, my question is what does it really mean that God does not change??? Can God change is plans about certain future judgment events that he says will happen???
  22. Down with the hierarchy...lol I understand we have rules and moderators for obvious reason to keep order and peace, but yes too much moderation is bad. I think George does a great job at managing these forums and have not seen any over moderation on these forums, compared to others I forums. I feel I can voice my opinions and disagreements as long as I stay within the rules of TOS (which I think are fair and good) and not worry about moderators blocking or removing my post even when they might disagree with me. I have been on this forum since 2003, actually longer because I have had an account prior to this one and pretty pleased with George and his selection of moderators and how they go about business. I have been on other forums where, if you mentioned certain debatable doctrines they disagreed with, you were blocked or banned, not so here. Jedi
  23. Here is the scriptural answer to that: For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. - Rom 1:19-20 ESV But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind. - Job 12:7-10 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory. - Psa 97:6 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." - Psa 14:1
  24. Some interpretations say "selah" means to pause and give praise to God.
  25. Same, all the nations came from Noah and his sons. So the knowledge and ways of God would have been passed down to every nation through Noah and his sons. Nearly every culture today has ancient knowledge about Noah and the Flood.
