  1. To Ted and WiP: Thank you. To charlie: If you wish to continue pursuing open questions, please do so in private. Here via PM, via e-mail... whatever... just so I can answer in my own time without feeling the need to make a quick public rebuttal. As much as I love it, I don't have the time to continue engaging in such debates. I have my own website and discussion forums to oversee... not to mention a life apart from being cast in front of the monitor's warm glow. You are a formidable debater but I do recommend you keep from getting so personal with your remarks. Saying you don't think I should be preaching (even though I never take politics to the pulpit) is definitely overstepping your bounds. I think most here would concur. Shalom, Lane
  2. No. Those lives are just as important. Our soldiers are fighting for a free a prosperous Iraq. None of those deaths will be in vain as long as we finish what we started... and we do not target innocent civilians. That's what our evil enemies do... Yes, actually I am. Not that it effects my views one way or the other but I can't find any direct opposition to IVF on their site. I did find this page that addresses the "legal and moral questions" about IVF: http://www.family.org/cforum/fosi/bioethic...ts/a0035066.cfm Call it what you will... my family is lower-middle class and I'm getting to keep more of my money under Bush. You should look into it further. How can being able to keep and control your own money be a bad thing? ...and it can go to your children after you die. Theonomy, yes. Theocracy, no... Well, at least you threw your vote away instead of giving it to Kerry. Thanks! I don't think either side of the political spectrum has the full truth. Anyone who thinks that has been duped. Proof? ...talk about accepting a lie. Saddam had them. He used them on his people. How do you know they weren't moved to Syria before the war broke out? You don't. We may never know the truth about the WMDs. Saddam had chance after chance after chance to give in to the demands of the U.N. and the U.S. He knew what was going to happen to Iraq if he didn't comply.... I don't ignore that. We had a common enemy in Iran. It's that simple. Ok... I give. You tell me.
  3. Hogwash. The Downing St. memos? Come on... I think it was fought to free the people from tyranny under Saddam. It was fought because the U.N. had no resolve in their "resolutions".... and IF you must find a hidden agenda in all of it, I think Israel's security had a lot to do with the urgency to oust Saddam.
  4. Yawn... No.... Am I a one issue voter? No. But I do know where the priorities need to lie... and #1 is not my wallet or what government can do for me. Abortion is hands down the most important issue. 45,000,000+ dead. Do the math... and I think something is being done about it. See this: http://www.family.org/cforum/feature/a0036950.cfm Iraq.... stem-cell research... is that it? Those are weak points. I think we've executed the mission in Iraq with the utmost dignity and respect for innocent life... unlike our evil enemies... and I think it's only right to be against embryonic stem-cell research. corrupt... and the Dems aren't? power hungry... and the Dems aren't? They're just not getting anything to satisfy their hunger because they can't win elections anymore. favors the rich... the Dems are against all tax cuts. They want to the U.S. to become a Socialist Republic so they can maintain their enslaving stranglehold on the welfare state. They are against privatizing Social Security because they want the gov't to keep more of the people's money. moral hypocrites... yeah, I guess you got us there. The Dems are pretty much out in the open about their dedication to evil: http://democrats.org/a/2005/06/statement_of_dn_1.php It's futile to try to prove to me that the Democrats are the lesser of the two evils. I'm not buying it. I'm also not buying that you use to be a Republican. Did you vote for Bush? In '04? In 2000?
  5. The war wasn't over oil. It's your job to prove it was if you think it was... not mine to prove it wasn't. My proof comes from the fact that you have no real basis for saying the war was all about oil. The Republicans are "drunk" with power because the Dems have forgotten how to win elections. If they want to enforce their agenda, they need to win some elections... now they're nothing but obstructionists. You say the GOP's concern for life ends at birth... how do you arrive at such a conclusion? Where are the Dems on euthanasia? If abortion is abolished, it will be because of people in the GOP like Sam Brownback who are fighting to have Roe v. Wade overturned. The Dems can't come out on the side of life because that's not what funds their campaigns. You like Howard Dean? ...and you say you're against abortion? Think about what you're saying. I'm not a Christian elitist. I often share a pew at church with some old traditional southern Democrats. I'm not trying to get them kicked out! I think some on the right are taking it too far and I speak out against them, too. But I'm also not afraid to tell those faithful old Democrats (outside church doors) the truth about what their party has become. ....and there is a difference between a pastor and a preacher. Pastor: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=pastor preacher: http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=preacher All Pastors are preachers but not all preachers are Pastors. Shalom, Lane
  6. Sounds to me like name-calling/slurring. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wasn't calling you ignorant. I was calling your comments ignorant. They're baseless. On second thought I take that back. I read some of your posts yesterday and you indicated that you're a politically active preacher. Evidently you don't like my political views and because of that you say I don't exhibit fruits of the spirit. If you have a problem with dissent then that's your problem......for now. Until you and those who think like you can squash all dissent I'm going to exercise my freedom of speech and speak out about those things I see that are wrong and need to be fixed. I guess I'm just part of that emerging Christian left. I don't agree with everything others on the Christian left think but I have more in common with them than with the Christian right anymore. Love, kindness, patience, those are fruits of the spirit that in my view are disappearing fast from an increasingly loud, militant Christian right. I think preachers need to decide whether they're preachers or politicians. If they want to do both; mix both, they should give up their tax free status. Go back and read your post to me on the previous page; do you not see how that post sounded? Sorry to stray off topic people. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're right. I don't like your political views. But I have no problem with dissent as long as you do it with love and respect. My tone may have been a bit too abrasive but how else is a Christian to react to someone who is trying to tear down (by supporting the neo-lib agenda) everything that concerned conservative Christians have accomplished in the past few years in this country? Abortion
  7. charlie, I've read a lot of your posts and my friend, you do not exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) ...I didn't call you ignorant. I don't resort to name-calling as you do. I said the implications you were making were ignorant.
  8. I'm glad you admit the fact that you don't know something, charlie. That's a nice change of pace. Trust me. I work for a fortune 500 company (much to your chagrin, I'm sure) and the anti-trust laws are definitely still on the books. Combined with legislation like Sarbanes-Oxley, they're actually becoming more intrusive making it harder for big corporations to keep profits up... which means more jobs leaving the U.S.... no thanks to either party on that deal... especially not the Dems. War for oil? I'm with "Work in Progress". That's just ignorant. Who sent you here? Michael Moore? George Soros?
  9. Greg Laurie wins with me... hands down.
  10. Iryssa, Are you involved in any kind of Christian (other than general evangelism) or political activism? Shalom, Lane
  11. Very important stuff. Thank you for sharing. Also, I want to commend you on your website. I encourage everyone here to click on the link in David's signature! Kudos, Lane
  12. I read this and I'm still trying to figure out which "fundamentalist Christian sects" offer up human sacrifices!?!?
  13. I believe this is an old Clarence Larkin illustration: http://members.citynet.net/morton/images/lheavens.gif It's interesting & helpful. About your question regarding the devil's access to the heavens... I could guess but it would be just that. I'd rather not speculate without substantial Scripture to back me up.
  14. I pray he gets saved before he leaves this world. Otherwise, he's going to face a judge who has all the facts.
  15. Wow... ok... well, please keep us updated on the situation as it unfolds & I'll be praying for your safety and for your country. God bless!
  16. I read this last night and it was a real eye-opener for me... http://www.rutherford.org/oldspeak/blog/ar...w/bat-yeor.html It really is amazing that little Israel, completely surrounded by its enemies, has survived as long as it has.
  17. ...kind of like the 100% Saddam election I presume. Well, it is clear that Mugabe is an authoritarian of biblical proportions. Very sad. Do you live in Zimbabwe, Grace Girl?
  18. This is a Pol Pot killing fields kind of socialism setting in... we need to pray for the people... even though they re-elected Mugabe, I'm sure they didn't expect this after voting him back in.
  19. In case anyone wants to get back on topic here, I think it needs to be stated that Amnesty Int'l is most definitely NOT the non-partisan organization it claims to be: http://www.washtimes.com/national/20050602-120456-1031r.htm I am not the biggest fan of Dick Cheney but he was right to say, "I don't take them seriously."
  20. Amen, dgolvach! What a great response!!! Any government made up of men is imperfect by default. Look at the intentions of the founders of the U.S. (by reading the Declaration of Independence) and the intentions of Marx and you'll come to a very clear conclusion whose was the "more Christian" of the two forms.
  21. 6,000 years ago you mean... The teaching of the THEORY of evolution doesn't float any better than teaching the TRUTH of Creationism. If it's looked at objectively, Creationism is easier to support than evolution. As far as "picking our battles" goes, I don't know of very many more important battles to take up than that of protecting our children from the attempted brainwashing by the evil system of secular humanism. My argument has never been turned over and shoved in my face. I live and breathe Truth through Jesus Christ. I fight from VICTORY. ....and by the way, my children WILL be homeschooled. I dare not throw them into the fire and expect them not to get burned. Shalom, Lane
  22. Ah, yes, language... with Janice Rogers Brown and other Bush judicial nominees in the news, here's a great read on the subject of language and moreover, the state of our nation (or at least that in April 2000 under the first 8-year Clinton regime) from her as delivered in a speech to The Federalist Society in Chicago: http://www.constitution.org/col/jrb/00420_jrb_fedsoc.htm She really hits the nail on the head on some of this stuff. It's no wonder why the Marxist Democrats hate her so much. They abhor any African-American who can think and speak independently and see the left in this country at face value. Shalom, Lane
