We should take this topic into the womens section i bet wed get lots of responces....... Anyways ....i think that God helps us to love those who hurt us ......its like you said.. in our flesh we are weak.......but with God all things are possible...... Seek~sorry about loosing all that work...I know how that feels. Yuck! Truely with God all things are possible, and without Him we can do nothing! I certainly would never have been able to endure (most women couldn't) what my husband put me through without God being involved. Maybe we should take it into the womens section....could possibly help someone. -

Why do Christians attack other christians so much?

My fear is that I don't pray enough for him. When I was first saved I prayed diligently for him and at that time you'dve thought the devil himself was living in my home. Two years later he gave his life to the Lord and completely bathed himself and us in God's word (miss that). Now, its better than BC, but I see alot of the old hubby come back. I however trust that God will do what He promises...."being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" Phil. 1:6 Oh, about the hard-headed thing....I found that before he was saved....the more I prayed for him....the worse he got!!!! I thought he would never turn around, but I got out of God's way and He saved the day. And no....you are most certainly not alone. {{{{{{{{{{{{Cat}}}}}}}}}}}}}} -
Here is what I got from the Interlinier Bible The NAS New Testament Greek Lexicon Strong's Number: 142 Browse Lexicon Original Word Word Origin airo a primary root Transliterated Word TDNT Entry Airo 1:185,28 Phonetic Spelling Parts of Speech ah'-ee-ro Verb Definition 1 to raise up, elevate, lift up 2 to raise from the ground, take up: stones 3 to raise upwards, elevate, lift up: the hand 4 to draw up: a fish 5 to take upon one's self and carry what has been raised up, to bear 6 to bear away what has been raised, carry off 7 to move from its place 8 to take off or away what is attached to anything 9 to remove 10 to carry off, carry away with one 11 to appropriate what is taken 12 to take away from another what is his or what is committed to him, to take by force 13 to take and apply to any use 14 to take from among the living, either by a natural death, or by violence cause to cease I think that #'s 8, 9 & 14 best suit this verse. I was looking at the verse a bit closer and I think one very important word that hasn't been focused on is "dries up" (nasv). It seems to me that it would require a lot for you to be dried up as a Christian....I believe that this verse (John 15:6) is telling us that if we choose to turn away from God and not abide in Him then he will pull us off the vine, at which point in order for us to be burned (because a branch is still green when first pulled off a vine) we have to go through a final stage of drying before we can be burned. So Yes we can give up our salvation by turning away from God, but it never tells us at what point is it that we stopped abiding in Him. Is it when we have completely eliminated Him from our everyday thoughts? Or is it when we stop going to church; only pray when it suits our needs and maybe if you're asked to pray for someone else; fill our home with things other than God, and He is seen only a little, but all the while you still have a deep love for Him...could that be seen as the prodigal son? I guess I am just looking for answers that the Lord hasn't yet revealed to us/me.

I understand totally. Been very difficult finding a church, looking for past 4 years for one that truely lives up to the one we went to in Florida. And that was a church of over 15,000 people. Go figure. We had a small group within the large metropolitan church and we would get together regularly and even have communion outside of the once a month in church. So I can see how it would be feesable for us to have it on here. :bright: :bright: :bright:

Why do Christians attack other christians so much?
Hvnly1Rose replied to seekandyouwillfind's topic in Spiritual Warfare
My perspective is as a middle man (so to speak). Do to my husband slipping away slightly from the Lord to where he is not doing as he should according to Gods word I have suffered much. I searched for answers and help...guidance that was biblical...and what I got was condemnation toward my husband. Albiet deserved, that was not what I needed to hear from elders of my church. Instead of getting spiritual uplifting I was told to give an altimatum, tuff love. What I saw as more of a worldly advice than something that would give me the spiritual push I needed. I felt let down by those who claim to be doing the Lords work by being the shephard to His flock. I did take what was said into consideration but was taken back to answers given to me by the wonderful Christians at the church I was saved at (I have moved from that area), to a time before my husband was saved...it seemed much simpler then but I was a baby in the faith and hungry for the truth. Now, when I am not much better than my husband when it comes to spending time with my Lord, I really needed the truth of God and much wisdom to get me motivated and filled with hope. So, what do you do when Christians brow beat your spouse and leave you feeling bad that you even shared the situation with someone you thought you could count on? I'll tell you what I did; I searched for counsel from those I knew I could trust even if they were hundreds of miles away and most especially cried out to my Lord for healing for both the initial problems as well as the bad counsel. I knew that they would give me answers that would not feed into my pain, but make me look at the situation from Gods point of view and not through my hurts. He is most faithful and He gave me a sense of peace as well as an ease in my home. Not everything is as it should be but I can certainly look at myself for the troubles I am having so I have no right to complain. I hope I didn't stray from the topic, and that this has touched even one. All My Love In Christ! -
Tatie, In my exprience with sitting on God's lap...as much as it is not a litteral thing, I think it is more of an emotional and spiritual feeling. The closer you get to God through his word, and especially through prayer, looking on Him as a true Abba (Daddy) Father like a child. A father that is invincible, that has grace when you are bad, that NEVER breaks a promise, that is always around when you need Him, and you can tell Him anything without fear. I truely believe that it is a matter of how you look at Him when you pray. If you are praying to Him with the attitude that He is unreachable then that is what He will be, but if you pray to Him as though He were right in the room next to you with His arms around you, you can truely feel His presence. As a mother, how did it make you feel when your son came over to you as a little boy, climbed up into your lap and nuzzled up to your chest? You instintively put your arms around him. It's the same way with God. Now try and think back to when you were a child and did the same to your father or mother, what feeling did you have climbing up there and stuffing you head into their chest? How did you feel when they wrapped their arms around you and squeezed? We are very emotional creatures, God made us that way and we need to look upon Him with the same emotions as we do with those we love around us. Hope this helps.

Hello all, new to the boards and comming in really late on this topic, a very HOT topic at that. I certainly agree that we can give up our salvation and I am not totally sure we can lose it but there is scripture that comes to mind in Revelation in chapter 3:14-22, where the Lord is talking to the Laodicean church: "The Lukewarm Church 14 "And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans[6] write, "These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,[7] I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, "I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'--and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked-- 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. 22 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."" It sounds to me as though the Lord really does require us to do good works....His works....being zealous in those works and, knowing that we are going to sin, to repent always, even though Christ died for all sins past, present and future we still need to acknowlege them so we can be clean vesels for Gods work. If we just rely only on our faith and not do what He calls on us to do then we are worthless to His cause....He paid a price for us and expects us to do something. Even though His love for us is unconditional it is true that we are required to be obedient children. David sinned Greatly but repented continually. He was always Hot for the things of the Lord, never lukewarm. King Saul on the other hand knew the things of the Lord and chose to be disobedient and suffered greatly because of it. God does what is necessary to accomplish His plan, and chastes those that He loves. As we come closer to the time of His return our hearts are getting colder to the Lord and His works. I don't know about you but I don't think I want to be vomited out of His mouth. That can't be good...even though that doesn't say we lose our salvation...it speaks volumes as to what is required of us as believers. God's blessings and revelations on all.

I like the explanation given in the "Believers Bible Commentary", it says: Rev. 11:4- The Two Witnesses are compared to Two olive trees and two lampstands. As olive trees they are filled with the Spirit (oil). As lampstands they bear testimony to the truth of God in a day of darkness. Then it refers you to the OT Zech. 4:2-14 Zechariah 4 Vision of the Lampstand and Olive Trees The Lampstand and the Olive Trees 1 Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep. 2And he said to me, "What do you see?" So I said, "I am looking, and there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps. 3Two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left." 4So I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, "What are these, my lord?" 5Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, "Do you not know what these are?" And I said, "No, my lord." 6So he answered and said to me: "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says the LORD of hosts. 7"Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of "Grace, grace to it!""' 8Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying: 9"The hands of Zerubbabel Have laid the foundation of this temple;[1] His hands shall also finish it. Then you will know That the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. 10For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD, Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth." 11Then I answered and said to him, "What are these two olive trees--at the right of the lampstand and at its left?" 12And I further answered and said to him, "What are these two olive branches that drip into the receptacles[2] of the two gold pipes from which the golden oil drains?" 13Then he answered me and said, "Do you not know what these are?" And I said, "No, my lord." 14 So he said, "These are the two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth." I don't think it is relevant who the Lord choses to send as the witnesses, but I look at it this way, if God can speak our world and us into being then he can send anyone he wanted back.

Here is what I found: Easton's Bible Dictionary Seven [N] This number occurs frequently in Scripture, and in such connections as lead to the supposition that it has some typical meaning. On the seventh day God rested, and hallowed it (Genesis 2:2,3). The division of time into weeks of seven days each accounts for many instances of the occurrence of this number. This number has been called the symbol of perfection, and also the symbol of rest. "Jacob's seven years' service to Laban; Pharaoh's seven fat oxen and seven lean ones; the seven branches of the golden candlestick; the seven trumpets and the seven priests who sounded them; the seven days' siege of Jericho; the seven churches, seven spirits, seven stars, seven seals, seven vials, and many others, sufficiently prove the importance of this sacred number" (see Leviticus 25:4; 1 Samuel 2:5; Psalms 12:6; 79:12; Proverbs 26:16; Isaiah 4:1; Matthew 18:21,22; Luke 17:4). The feast of Passover (Exodus 12:15,16), the feast of Weeks (Deuteronomy 16:9), of Tabernacles (13:15), and the Jubilee (Leviticus 25:8), were all ordered by seven. Seven is the number of sacrifice (2 Chronicles 29:21; Job 42:8), of purification and consecration (Leviticus 42:6,17; 8:11,33; 14:9,51), of forgiveness (Matthew 18:21,22; Luke 17:4), of reward (Deuteronomy 28:7; 1 Samuel 2:5), and of punishment (Leviticus 26:21,24,28; Deuteronomy 28:25). It is used for any round number in such passages as Job 5:19; Proverbs 26:16,25; Isaiah 4:1; Matthew 12:45. It is used also to mean "abundantly" (Genesis 4:15,24; Leviticus 26:24; Psalms 79:12). Also when it comes to the number of the Beast being 666 (Rev. 13:18) I think this is a good explanation (Believer's Bible Commentary): Six is the number of man. The fact that it is one less than seven may suggest that man has fallen short of the glory or perfection of God. The three sixes are a trinity of evil. Twelve is also a significant number from the Tribes (sons of Ishmael the son of Abraham; Gen. 17:20) of Isreal all the way thru the Bible into Revelation where we find it much more often with the Twelve Thousand from each tribe (Rev. 7:5-8) (144,000 witnesses; Rev. 7:4; 14:1, 3), a crown with Twelve stars on a woman (Isreal)(Rev. 12:1), a wall that will surround the new Jeruselem with twelve gates with the names of tribes of the sons of Isreal, and angel at each gate, Pearls on each gate (Rev. 21:12, 21), the twelve foundation stones of the wall with the names of the twelve Apostles on them (Rev. 21:14), the tree of life bearing twelve kinds of fruit (Rev. 22:2). Also in Revelation we find the number Twenty-four which refers to the Twelve Elders (Sons of Israel) of the old covenant (with Abraham) and the Twelve Elders (Apostles) of the New Covenant (Jesus) that fall down and worship God and the Lamb from their Thrones. (Rev 4:4,10; 5:8; 11:16; 19:4) Hope this was helpful. :dove

According to "Strongs Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible" Hell is spoken of a total of 54 times and of that only 16 times by Jesus, where as in the 2 pages devoted to the word Heaven, Jesus mentions heaven 113 times. Now how can you say that He speaks of Hell more than of heaven?
