  1. My position on the whole music thing is this...personal conviction. If you are comfortable listening to it and praising God than go for it. I'm a HUGE fan of Urban music. I think it's great that all these Christian artists (yes rap is an art haha) are coming out and giving the public something else to listen to. There is a church in Fla, can't remember the name of it but it's a christian hiphop church. Good for them! If you can reach the lost by music and "their" lifestyle go for it!
  2. I guess I just don't understand. I know i'm probably sounding like i'm trying to nit pick but I don't get it. Whether it's an addiction or for fun you CHOOSE to sit at that table with your money. Whether you are there soley just to get more money or you have more money than sense and just there to blow it. In baseball nobody steps up to the plate and lets the pitcher strike them out. Baseball is really big with relationships because many players have played for 2+ teams and know many many people in the game. If i'm batting against Pedro Martinez and he's my buddy...i'm not going to just stand there and let 3 fast balls strike me out. I want to hit the ball, I want MY stats to go up, I want the fame, and I want the glory. Baseball is a team sport yes...what you do out there effects the whole team...but honestly...if you put it in the practice/game/workingout/videos hours they put in you want the whole deal. You want to win, you want your team to do well, you want to earn and make more money you want many things that when it comes down to it are all very selfish. If the motives weren't selfish than your best friend would dominate you at everything, if someone is in a slump you'd throw an 85mph fastball down the middle everytime and hope he hits a homerun...etc... Poker: you're there to win money... Baseball/sports:you're there to win period. In my mind I can't find any difference.
  3. "How do you define drunk? I could have six beers and get totally pie eyed, but my 250 pound friend packs away 6 beers and blows nearly 0% on a breathalizer." hah...that's funny... Peaches: sorry to hear about your brother :-( hope he's ok. I guess for some it's white and black...not even a grey issue. For others it's grey...I used to go to this church that spoke against drinking all together. Spoke that it was a sin to have even drop...for many other reasons I left that church and am quite happy at this other one. But going from that to having a beer with the worship leader...just kinda confuses me lol...but like that one person said (sorry too lazy to go back and find who posted it haha) it's a relationship issue more than a rule or right and wrong issue.
  4. lol peaches...
  5. Be patient and see what happens...don't look "needy".
  6. Good luck with the automatically remembering everything! I got set up with all the hard profs because I transfered in and they wouldn't let me enroll untill 3 days before classes started. So I got the shaft on that one. I should be working on my computer project....meh..there's always tomorrow
  7. "Wanting the best for ourselves at the lost of others" So do you not like sports?
  8. School is rough. I wasn't supposed to take all the hard classes all at once like I am but I didn't have a choice really. So I'm hoping I pass them all. Partying and drinking...hah no not tooooooo much...drank with some friends and shot pool last night...but I didn't have more than my limit...:-) How about yourself?
  9. Have a special youth praise service friday nights. My old youth group used to do that. If someone has to go, they are free to...most will be able to stay later and thus you avoid the problem.
  10. My personal view is this. If you keep it as fun entertainment and follow some safe rules it's ok. Nobody has a problem spending money to see a movie...well if you don't go to movies but you like playing the slots or playing poker...go for it...another tip...always bring cash to the casino and leave your credit/debit cards at home. When/if you spend all you have you can't grab for the card and get yourself in trouble...
  11. Peaches: haha...I can't help it lol...any Idea how to make it easy to find my posts? I have the hardest time just finding this one...obviously i'm forgetful so I don't remember what boards I post what on...so I have to find the search function and then search for my messages. Is there any easier way? Thank you all for your thoughts!
  12. Hey everyone that responded thanks for your input! Good stuff to think about! Peaches...I'm VERY suprised you remembered me! I appreciate that...what boards do you frequent the most? Sometimes It just seems like some of these are dead...so I get bored and "forget" about Worthy Boards and than I remember it down the road and end up posting a few haha. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Andrew

    Drunkeness

I realize 99.9% of christians believe it is a sin to get drunk. Probably the 1% aren't saved or just don't care. I have doubts...and I hate those. I realize everyone here will have a 100% strict answer but I don't have one. Maybe because I'm in college and everyone parties? I'm around it all the time? I'm not sure. But here's my doubt. It says in the bible that wine is a mocker...don't fall to drunkeness etc etc...where is the "do not get drunk" part? I can tell my friend, hey don't get wasted tonight you have an exam at 9am. It's obvious the right choice is to study and not go out. But he chooses to party and may or may not do well on the exam. His choice, none are wrong choices per say, one is obviously the better more "responsible" action, the other isn't. Not looking before pulling into traffic...not against the law per say unless you hit someone...obviously it's better to look and then cross. I've been drunk. It's fun. Sometimes I don't mean to..just happens..but if I do nothing wrong while drunk...say just watching a baseball game with a buddy of mine...where is the harm? I know about alcoholism but that's part of the smarter not to drink so much decision i've already gone over. I realize some think it's a sin to drink in any amount. I'm not looking for that either. So I guess open the flood gates haha...but please be real honest...I'd rather have a hardcore response than sugar coating it. God Bless... Andrew
  14. "Anyway, Worthy has elders deacons, and traditional pastors, so it still qualifies." lol...
  15. If I remember correctly the first gathering of people in the name of the Lord were those friends on rooftops. When God says we should be in fellowship of believers he isn't meaning the church as we know it as today. We just need to be with those of like mind who can encourage us daily and keep us accountable. Peace
  16. Yes he listens to you. It says in the Bible that he knows when a sparrow falls and how much more important we are than a bird.
