  1. lol leonard I remember reading about that church awhile ago, its a cross between christianity and some native american religions I believe. While the church is totally in the wrong, the supreme court made the right decision there via law.
  2. Don't open your eyes, light is a proven carcinogen
  3. you will also notice how the niv completely leaves out many verses. Watch the numbering, it will somtimes say go from 34 to 39 with nothing inbetween. Alot of this is due to the writers of the NIV holding certain views. One big one is they do not beleive in Christs divinity. They changed most every verse they could about this except for the ones that were so painfully obvious they couldnt do anything about it.
  4. could you please provide some links about the fresh (relativly) bones?
  5. I dont think china would ever willingly commit to full scale war with the us, and we would avoid it at all costs also. Our countries are far to tied to the world economy. Full scale war would devasate our economies and countries. Both sides would lose far far more than they would ever gain. There is no point in the us and china having it out, we'd both lose no matter who won.

    Elijah

Is there any reason to believe its enoch or elijah? Not every man will die. what of rapture? Those people wont die.
  7. people also thought and said that when napolian was warring in europe, people also said that when ww1 was going on, people thought hitlar was the anti christ. Every generation thinks its the end. There is no reason to think time wont last another 2000 years.
  8. if we stop using oil our economy collapses, we starve, we freeze, our country totally shuts down, we die. We have no motivation to kick oil because there are to many mechanisms in place to keep us using oil. That sounds pretty addicted to me.
  9. 2Cor12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee Eph 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. James supports this. What we do shows what is in our hearts. Matt 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him]. Jesus chose you, you didnt choose him. Rom8:29-30 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. This speaks for itself. Also think on this. Rom3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God Rom3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus Rom3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. We all have sinned, which puts us at odds with God. Only Jesus can make us right with God. Only Jesus, Only Jesus. Does this mean we should sin? Why? To avoid sin is to show love for God. Anything that isnt for God is sin. Rom14:23 ...for whatsoever [is] not of faith is sin. We do good works because God's love is in our hearts. Not because we are trying to earn God's love. That is impossible. *Edit: typos and clarification
  10. here is what the Bible says about it...... 2Cr 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? mike I believe your miss applying this passage. Its more broad than that. It speaks about all your relationships. All people need edification and support from other believers. If you are constantly in contact with mostly non-believers, it could hurt you and certainly not help your faith walk. Paul speaks far more clearly in 1 corrinthians about marriages where 1 doesnt beleive. 1Cor7:12-14 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. There is more after that too, but while mentioning unbelievers, it doesnt apply to this situation persay. There is no hard and fast rule for this situation. Pray over it, but don't abaondon someone just because they don't Believe. Otherwise, how could more people come to know God?
  11. What is being ignored is that Hamas also got voted in on a platform of public and government reform. Fixing a system where if you knew the right people, you got a job, but if you didn't - you were basically screwed. Where qualifications meant nothing compared to bribes. Where your country ignored you because those in power were to busy lining thier own pockets. Where you could get shot walking down the street by any number of rival gangs because there is NO ORDER. Need I go on? Hamas wasnt voted into power because thier destroy isreal plan has universal popularity. There is far more to it, and ignoring it really does the palestinean people a disjustice. Am I condoning hamas? Never. Do I think that every single palestinean deserves to die or wants every isreali killed? Not a chance. People here need to be carful, its to easy to label and hate the whole group when not everyone there is the bad guy. What about all the palestineans that are christians? Are you condoning them dying as well?
  12. there is no doubt we did not go to iraq over clear reason. Look back over the last couple years, you will notice how the given reason for going to iraq changed every few months. The white house was scrambling for a few years to justify the mess they had created.
  13. It is overdone, but I have to point out how a few years ago, others were ravenously discussing a different public leaders personal and marriage problems. Can't have it both ways.
  14. Isreal can't use a full scale response. It just wont work What will they do, bomb schools and apartment buildings? Invade hosptils and parks? The terrorists hide among communities. (plus there isnt that much palestinean space to begin with.) All they will do is what we did in Iraq - dramatically INCREASE the number of terrorists. Thats why there hasnt ever been a large scale Isreale response, and there can never be one. They will kill countless civilians to get a few terrorists, all the while recuiting 100x more in the process.
  15. I'm of two minds about this. One the one hand, KUDOS to a american paper for FINALLY (read 6 motns later) having the GUTS to print something about this finally without just endless appeasment of both sides. On the other, some of these cartoons seem written outta revenge which isnt right.
  16. um... .who decided ancient is only before the fall of rome?
  17. ancient doesnt mean BC. Besides, you cant have a BC muslim graveyard. Islam didnt even exist till the mid 6th century.
  18. just an added insight, dont forget "angel" translates to "messenger"
  19. to my knowledge they do no. The temple no longer exists, and they dont have the necessary things like the Ark. I dont think they will ever start up again because God would have to direct them to rebuild a temple, and the ark would have to be found (which I suspect it will stay hidden forever). He would never direct his people to such a fruitless thing now that the messiah has come
  20. So companies are for the devil if they decide to not invest in isreal (notice they arnt investing in palestinean companies either). Where does that put 99.99% of americans who don't invest in isreali companies?
  21. but dolphins arnt pets! Seriously though, alot of this is cultural. The bible never outright forbids polygamy. Notice how many OT people had multiple wives? Jesus can't have suddenly changed the rules. God doesnt change or backtrack. Its a sin here because its both illegal and taboo. God says that a church leader should only have a single wife, inorder to give him more time to attend to his duties.
  22. sooo...... doesnt God charge us with taking care of his creation in Genesis? One of the first recorded commands of God to humans? Instead we should just sit on our thumbs while we wait for him to come back ignoring what he said? How about the number of people world wide that have to eat fish out of horribly contaiminated water sources and generally die from cancer around 30-40yrs of age? How about the general cancer rate increasing dramitically in the last 50 years in america due to background sources. How about people who lose thier jobs/livelyhood because changed environments bring invading species that stomp out others they depend upon? How many of you honestly know much about this; how many instead write anything climate related off as "liberal propaganda" and dismiss it? Ever considered why EVERY biologist world wide acknowledges the problems with what we are doing to our world; that its just political groups (that have much to gain from denying it) dont? Its like assuming tobabbco companies are telling the truth when they claim cigarettes are harmless.
  23. um... 29,000x more money spent on energy? Oil prices havnt gone up that high. Only thing I can think of is all the free "incentives" to companies to do things differently (like be more environmental). Problem is, incentive means they get the tax breaks for doing nothing.
  24. Jesus was a human at the time as well. And no created being can ever be near God's equal. As well, since the Father and the Son are aspects of the same being, Jesus couldnt do anything without the Father willing it.
