  1. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 Thank God for that. Been an age since I posted here- I was completely miserable today due to a number of ongoing issues. But it isn't all about me. I hope sharing this helps others. I'm clinging to it.
  2. Thanks for the info. Strikes me as odd that Gamestop & office supply stores would close. They seem to do good business. Ah well. Hopefully those laid off will find new jobs!
  3. Thanks for the input- much appreciated. God bless.
  4. I haven't been a member of either my previous or current church (over three years), and was curious about views on membership. Didn't know how to become a member for a while, but now that I know, it is four meetings this month to do it. Not sure if I can make all four- And currently not bringing in an income to give big offerings. Thanks-
  5. OK, thanks I sent a PM. Oh, and this topic above: should it be discussed here or there, do you think? Thanks!
  6. Thanks for this post. God bless.
  7. And what is the password? I have no idea who to ask. Thanks! There have been some sermons lately touching on marraige at my church, and it struck me what a foreign concept it is to me personally as one who has never had a girlfriend, being single for 38 years. I'm thankful for my life, but wish I had the opportunity to join a monastary at some point, or at least had a Christian father to give me some tips. A recent injury really has me wondering a few things as well... Maybe before I go further I should ask if this belongs in Men's Forum, or we should type text here (if people want to). Thanks again, and God protect you all.
  8. Thanks. I guess I just wait it out & see if this feels better... I wonder how bad it has to be to see a doctor- Pretty embarassing injury (and me with my name out here)...
  9. It is- interesting- being a single Christian man for a lifetime (now 38). I wonder what life as monk is like.
  10. OK, thanks for the replies. Take care everyone.
  11. Haven't posted in a while. Hope you're doing well. I've been going to a church for three years or so, but don't really know anyone. Was in a community group, but can't go to it anymore due to location (ironic). The worship is nice, though, and prayer & preaching is excellent. These are the main things. Socializing is secondary. I guess if you're single, and w/o a car (to get to distant community groups) it can be tricky to connect. There are groups, and membership. Maybe I need to figure out the redesigned web page to connect better. I love this church. Just feels a bit funny to look around & see people talking to each other, and not having anyone to do that with. Oh well, all the glory be to God. God bless! Thanks for reading.
  12. Thanks for the reply. I have no fear of rejection from any man. My self-worth is found in Christ alone. Haven't met the neighbors in any house around mine since I moved here, three years ago. Guess we never seem to meet for some reason. My housemates; a family of four, know the neighbors on both sides. Good advice, Little Brown Church. If I do ever meet the neighbor, I'll try to bring it up casually. Sorry to hear about that, Fez. Spiritual warfare! Hope everyone else is doing well. Thanks!
  13. Thanks, good idea talking to the neighbor. If I can find him/her sometime... Oh, and dorms. You're right- I spent a year in them. It is hard to remember how I managed sleep- And I wake up when the sun comes up (God's alarm clock). Or a bit earlier.
  14. Good responses. His mercy & grace by sending His Son. The whole fact that He exists & caused all good things in creation to exist. (All bad things, such as disease, flesh-eating bacteria, etc. are due to a fallen world).
  15. Ha, wish I knew. They person has three dogs, I believe, and I didn't hear anything but them. Little did I suspect a much bigger problem was to hit. Huge plumbing problem at the house. Thanks for the reply.
  16. Blessings, fellow Christians. I really wanted to call the police on someone, who I suppose was gone for the night, about their barking dogs. Imagined a $300 ticket being stuck to their front door for disturbing the peace of the neighborhood. Lack of sleep is no joke. Causes pain for some, and increases (I would think) chances of accidents, auto, around the home, etc. A pastor w/reduced sleep might even have trouble with giving the sermon effectively. Hard to believe dogs can cause so much trouble. Makes me wish there was a muzzle requirement at night for them. Wasn't feeling anger so much (which is bad for your health) as much as wanting to solve the problem. Turned on my light with the blinds open & stood looking out the window at 5 AM to let anyone outside know I was awake, but had no one to yell out to be quiet to. Just someone's luxury animals. Didn't have much else to do after prayer, stretching, Bible, besides posting here. Thanks for listening.
  17. Peace of the Lord be with you always. Sorry, I edited the post. I'm a bit sleep deprived from last night's pain. I'm just praying God reveals the way for others to be healed by finding the right doctor right now. Myself included. Or maybe God wants some of us just to wait for injuries to heal themselves. Medical stuff is pretty confusing to me. I thank God for this life, though.
  18. Anyone else have a hard time deciding whether to pay out of pocket for a treatment that may or may not help? Impact to front tooth while on a painkiller for the brain injury headache 1.5 years ago. Pain from impact to tooth & headache has moved to a point between the two areas- roof of the mouth. Tried a few chiropractors, accupuncture, and... waiting/doing nothing. I have utmost respect for what is done for those in ER rooms, private practice, and countless other areas. Bad experiences can make it difficult to try again with doctors. But sometimes we need to I guess.
  19. Usually I post this sort of thing in the Problems section (where I've been mostly the last year and a half or so ) But this has never happened to me before (I think). Caught a mean cold from the housemates (family w/a three year old I nanny). Combined with my post-concussion chronic pain, it was a whole new kind of cold. Now less than two months later, another cold. From the child I nanny? Someone sneezed on my salad at Panera? No clue. I try to live a healthy lifstyle. Anyone else run into this? I've been reading up on sickness. Just figured I'd come here since I only have cloe family to talk to (housenates sometimes). Thanks! Peace of Christ be with you.
  20. Wasn't sure where to put this: Christian, Spiritual Warfare, or here. Just happened. Lived in Oakland a bit over 3 years ago. http://news.yahoo.com/5-hurt-oakland-religious-school-shooting-183811343.html
  21. Sorry to hear about your painful experiences. Thanks for the encouragement. I try to be prayerful throught the day for protection & wisom. Only 38, often feel 58, and have a long way to go (if the Lord chooses). Praying for protection for you all as well.
  22. Tough call. Some jobs get really tough or even impossible as you get older. And to go out of your field & work a job you hate just to work would be a pain. Maybe volunteering, or finding a job that works in older age.
  23. Hey, been a while. Sorry to come back- to this section. Just had my right ankle buckle under me on the stairs (I'm not overweight), despite walking carefully- looking at my feet. Knee, hip, and back all twisted to compensate & are sore. Been in the house over three years now. Wonder if this is God's way of telling me to move on to a place w/o stairs. My ears are ringing (tinnitus) & I have post-concussion syndrome, so maybe my balance is off. Did an ice pack, and will do an ibuprofin tonight maybe. Sorry to bother you with a minor problem. I feel like this is the only place I can go online to talk about it. So disappointed in my body when this happens. Now begins the hope that God can heal me, and quickly. Others have it far worse, but- I try so hard to avoid injury. Ah well, thanks be to God. And thank you.
