  1. No cheating (I'm assuming you mean adultery) isn't a law, neither is no lying. No lying isn't in the ten commandments either. So you have two commandments that are laws out of ten. Plus, these are God's laws, not the laws of the nation. The punishment for breaking most of these laws (like working on the sabbath, or disrespecting your parents) is death. We give out the death penalty for murder, and even then it's rare. I'd rather not be stoned to death for arguing with my father or responding to an emergency call from one of my client's on Sunday. One more point, I'd rather have the ten commandments posted at places where sin occurs (abortion clinics, a billboard in Las Vegas, places like that) where it's appropriate and can act as a deterrent (can you imagine a girl going through with an abortion while reading "Thou shalt not kill".)
  2. How is that a win for anyone really? God doesn't care if the ten commandments are in a courtroom, plus only two of the commandments are actually laws so it has nothing to do with the legal system. It only applies to two religious, plus it opens the gates for other religions. Would you be all right with a town that was primarily Muslim hanging up fatwa's on their courts and schools? Edited to add: Ah, just noticed it says park, that's not so bad at all (I have a real issue with them being in courts just because that's not the right place for the ten commandments.)
  3. Wow... that's expensive. I have a very big very fancy bible and I forgot where it came from, it's very very nice and the kind that would retain it's value, but I can't imagine spending $120 on it. I have an even harder time spending $120 on a regular bible with study notes (which is what I'm guessing the Study Bibles are.)
  4. I don't play those games just because I dislike the idea of buying a game and then having to pay a monthly fee just to play it. I don't see any evil, it's just a video game, some people do get a little obsessive about the video game but that's based on the type of person they are not because of any evil in the game.
  5. Thanks Bob how true. I was explaining to some friends what had happened to me when I was converted, I realised they thought I was mad. I changed tack and said I
  6. It's fairly easy, especially when you work as a network administrator for a large ISP or web hosting company. You can setup a VPN and tunneling so when you browse websites, it's as if the traffic were coming from the hosts computer, even though you're browsing from home. When you're the admin on the network and server you're connecting to, it becomes quite easy to delete the logs (or just have it setup to not log your traffic at all.) My friend knows more on the subject because he's done it many times before (not for anonymity, just so he could get a faster connection in his college dorm, he used the network in the computer lab from his dorm computer to access the net because the dorm network was flooded with all kinds of traffic from people in the rooms.) Just like the people who live in China and manage to get outside of the great firewall. It's even easier to remain anonymous on your neighbors unsecured wireless network because most routers that a person would have in their house don't keep a log of the computers that connected to it. So you can browse all you want, and the only log of your activity will be on your own computer. Same thing at internet cafe's, except someone might see you in the cafe (you can browse from inside one of those big work vans and have the windows covered if you'd like, but then they could just run the plates on the van, and you need those as long as the van's on the street and not in your driveway.)
  7. Oh, forgot to add - So you're saying that 2018 is a rough estimate of when the revelation will occur? That's quite a bold statement, because if nothing happens you and your whole belief system were wrong. Plus I thought we were told no man will know when it will occur?
  8. Do you think you're anonymous? Do you think your internet handle hides your identity? There are organizations out there, hundreds of them, that track internet traffic. Every place you go on the internet is being watched. Did you not know that? Every website that you are a member of is on someone's list. And it's not your internet handle they're looking at, they're looking at your name. They know who you are and from your surfing patterns, they can get a pretty good idea of what you're all about. You have no anonymity on the internet. Unless you surf the internet wirelessly using your neighbors connection, or the connection at an internet cafe. Or you only browse from school, library, internet cafe computers. Or you know a thing or two about networking and setup a VPN. Believe me, those who really want it, have anonymity on the internet.
  9. Oh, I forgot to add, the kids are able to read, why not give them a children's version of the bible that they can understand and enjoy? They'll soon be running around the house pretending to be Jesus.
  10. How old are these kids that they believe the stuff in the books is real? I say give them a twig and a locked door and have them say "alohomora" till they unlock the door or give up. I can't believe this thread is back. Harry Potter is not the work of satan, and it hasn't converted anyone to witchcraft (well ok maybe an 8 year old or two, but believe me, they think they're as much a witch as the kid that pretends to be an indian thinks he's really an indian.)
  11. Speaking on behalf of an atheist that I just asked (my father) if he woke up tomorrow morning and I was gone along with all the other christians in the world (and I hadn't asked this question) he'd just be very confused. If someone had explained to him the rapture had taken place, he'd need some more evidence showing that it was the rapture and not just a massive alien abduction (which in his mind is more plausible... )
  12. So many bad laws get passed because no one understands them. I want politicians to be open about their beliefs, they are the law makers, will these laws benefit or hurt the country? You need to know where they stand on certain issues to know how well they will represent you and your beliefs. The person who speaks for the beliefs of the most american's wins. That's why I hate when politicians are allowed to get away with half answers, answer the full question and don't just say one thing and do another.

Not every holiday has to have god in it, like thanksgiving, independence day, labor day, new years eve. Plus easter and christmas both have pagan roots.
  14. The bible only allows divorce in specific situations, this isn't one of them. The church would probably advise more counseling, but I'm not entirely sure, it depends on how conservative they are. Actually, this is one of them. Jesus specificly allowed for divorce for the cause of fornication. This man could be said to be nothing less than a fornicator. Hence, this woman has grounds to divorce due to fornication of her unfaithful husband. Ahh I didn't notice that part, yeah as long as the husband is cheating the wife can get a divorce.

  16. I absolutely agree that Adam knew he was disobedient .. I had never considered that Adam who walked with God from the beginning would have had such and evil evil heart he would choose to plunge all mankind after him into such deprivation....knowing the whole of the consequences .... I don't feel so good......I never thought of this before...oh my gosh... Is this true... I know that I am capable of such but for some reason I never considered Adam to be as evil as man is now... Huummmmm I have had to learn by experience that there were consequences and in learning found out the fullness of the consequences.. Did you ever tell a kid to not do something? Like they're climbing on the table and you say "Stop, you're going to hurt yourself" but you don't stop them, and then they get hurt. Well it's the same thing. Are kids evil? Well, no, they just didn't know what would happen, but after hurting themselves they're probably not going to do the same thing again (ok well sure they'll probably do it again unless they got hurt really really bad, but it wouldn't be for a while.) Adam didn't know what would happen, god said he would die but how could Adam know what that would be like? How would Adam know he's going to ruin things for humanity?
  17. I don't understand the relevance of this question. Was it in relation to anything? How does advertising work? Well that's how Satan deceives people.
  18. Hehe I don't see how atheists, agnostics, and the ACLU are causes for the degradation of Christmas. I don't know any atheists who want to call Christmas trees "Holiday trees" and stuff like that. They generally ignore other people's religious beliefs unless they encroach on the atheists rights. Unless you were talking about something else that atheists and agnostics do?
  19. Well, I support artists by going to their concerts and buying t-shirts from them and all that stuff. I generally only see local bands and small bands so I know they can keep most of the profits from a sale. The musicians that are against file sharing are really big popular musicians and they aren't going broke from file sharing (although they might have to wait another week before buying a second gold plated lamborghini diablo for their sons 18th birthday, but then considering how little they actually make from record sales I find that highly unlikely.) File sharing seems to help much much more than it hurts (since small local bands can share their songs, and become big) but anyway, that's really not the argument I want to start here. I know the music that I listen to can be considered "evil" because of the lyrics, because of the people who sing it, and because of what those people believe in. I don't consider myself evil for listening to the music, but I'm not going to try to convince anyone that Slayer is good wholesome christian music. What I'm more interested in now is why christian metal can't be christian? Why is it that two artists can sing the same prayer, with the same words, and the same meaning behind the words, yet one is evil and the other is not?
  20. Downloading music isn't stealing, it's copying. If I record a radio station is that stealing? If it is stealing, why? And do you truly believe recording a song off a radio station should be illegal? Downloading music is only illegal because the RIAA is greedy (you know, greed, one of the things God tells us is a sin) and wants people to either listen to commercial radio stations for music, or buy $20 CDs in stores (even though the artist gets hardly anything from the sale, and the CD costs nothing to make.) Although that's all discussion for another time. Gospel was only around for the past 100 years. Does that mean we should be listening to gregorian chants? I don't like those very much and I think they'd be a danger to roadways as they'd put most drivers to sleep rather quickly. Also, rap music was around longer than metal (rap music originated in the early 1900s as gospel music with offensive lyrics.) does that mean it is more godly? Lastly, the african drum music you refer too has been around longer than any other form of music, does that mean it is the most godly? This forum is so annoying to quote on, anyway... wouldn't Satan choose a more popular style of music? Why doesn't he use pop pop music for his praise? Why would he choose something that so few people listen to. Also, how can I prove that satan is NOT involved in all metal music? It'd be impossible to do that (can't prove a negative.) What would be possible, is for someone to prove praying too loud or too fast is evil. So if you can convince me somehow that praying too loud or two fast is evil, I'll take your word for it.
  21. I know what you mean!!! I don't mind Christ centered music as long as it doesn't sound like a sermon. I also like fast, loud, angry music. If you are looking for some Christian Stuff, here is some you might want to look into. 1. Kutless (A lighter Christ-centered kind of band, you probably wouldn't like it, but I do and I seem to enjoy the same music as you.) 2. Thousand Foot Krutch (This is a good one, not super heavy, but heavy enough and although when you think about it, there is a Christian perspective to their music, you wouldn't notice it if you didn't know they were Christian. 3. Demon Hunter and Underoath (These are both VERY heavy screamo angry bands, the Christ-centered part won't bother you because when you can even make out the words, they arn't like preaching). Thats the main Christian stuff I listen to, so if you have some free time, you might want to check them out. Thank you so much :-D. I didn't even know Underoath was a Christian band, I've heard them a bunch of times on the local college radio. I'll have to check out the other bands you listed. hr.jr. I feel like my relationship with Jesus is strong, I really don't think if Jesus were here today he'd say "We must all listen to Christian music!" He asks us to spread his word, but if I know his word already why would I have to make my whole life listening to it? I've driven cross country so many times, and most of the time in the car I'm listening to music. I'm really not in the mood to hear the same thing over and over again about Christ and his message. Not that I have anything against Christ but it'd be like if my music was about programming, or photography (two things I like a lot and know a lot about.) One or two songs and I think "Oh cool they're singing about something I'm passionate about." It's even nicer because it's so rare I'd hear a song like that. When it becomes every song I listen too "This is just redundant and annoying."
  22. Hmm, my favorite bands are Fear Factory, Thursday and Atreyu. I listen to mostly metal, punk, industrial (lots of Nine Inch Nails.) I don't think it matters what music you listen to as long as you enjoy it. I'd probably listen to more Christian bands but all the songs are so Christ centered, yes I know that's the point but it's so annoying. I listen to music because I enjoy music, not because I enjoy being preached to. I just want something loud, fast, and angry, the kind of music that when you hear live you just get so pumped up you want to jump into a mosh pit and go nuts. Unfortunately the Christian music I've heard lacks loud, angry, energy filled mosh pits.
  23. Absolutely, which is why I read the bible and quote directly from it when people ask questions like "Where does it say that?" which happens very often because many people like the G rated bible, and not the NC-17 version.
  24. Why should that be a law? What if I wanted to lie to someone to keep a surprise secret? Like a gift or a surprise party.
  25. I don't see how the bible is a good book to base any laws on at all. If I wanted to create some laws I wouldn't start off with one's from the bible because I'd end up having to get rid of a lot of them. I think there are two laws in the bible that society would benefit from, don't kill and don't steal, other than that none of the others should be law (unless I missed some.)
