I have to wonder why all atheists are not vegetarian. If there is no difference between humans and animals, besides a massive intelligence difference (where did that come from anyways?), then why are you eating animals? Why not humans?

WN: Poll: Most OK birth control for schools - USA Today
KeilanS replied to WorthyNewsBot's topic in U.S. News
I have an idea. Let's teach students the benefits of abstinence and stop acting like premarital sex is the natural course of things. That might decrease the pregnancy rate. Crazy thought, no? If they come into our high schools and tell us we are animals who are going to bow to our urges and then give us birth control, of course sex is going to happen. But no, we couldn't teach abstinence, somebody might think we're suggesting the Bible got it right and that's not politically correct! -
I can't agree with this enough. Mere Christianity is a must read for any Christian or anyone who plans to argue against Christianity.

I see what you're saying, i think. So you mean that Jesus still has the power to save people who have never heard His name... correct? Well then we should consider the passage John 6: 53-57: 53Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, ye have not life in yourselves. 54He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath eternal life: and I will raise him up at the last day. 55For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood abideth in me, and I in him. 57As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he that eateth me, he also shall live because of me. It seems He is saying that unless you eat of His flesh and drink of His blood, then you will not have eternal life.

That is true of course, we do live in a sort of pseudo-Christian area (both the US and Canada). Although I still have to think they would be more likely to be saved in the US than in Mexico (I don't know this of course, I've never been to Mexico). That's all it really comes down to for me, if mexican illegals get saved in the US, then let them come. If there is no difference in terms of how many come to Jesus between those in Mexico and those in the US, then tighten border controls.

I'm going to assume you had not yet read my quote in post #16 when you posted this. Jesus Christ did say that no one will get to the Father except through Him. He did not lie, but nowhere did He say that only through a personal relationship with Him can you get to heaven. You don't necessarily have to know Him to be saved through Him. The simple answer to your question is that we just don't know how God will judge them, we only know that they will be judged by a merciful and just God and we have very little reason to belive they are simply all going to hell.

So how long is it going to plateau for before oil production starts to decrease? If we've consumed half of it, then it can't be long before it gets hard to find. Speaking on which, how much is left? How long do we have at 85.5 million barrels a day?

A lot more taco's for me! .....relax. It's a joke. On that note... do illegals make good taco's? If so, send a few up to Canada. I love taco's.

So, I'm seeing a pattern here. If everyone tried to live their lives following biblical principles, avoiding drunkeness and premarital sex, the problem would go away. Surprise, surprise. -
Here is the stat I really want to hear; how many of these illegal immigrants are saved? How many of them would benefit from the Christian influence in the United States? Is there a chance that some souls will be saved from those 20 million that wouldn't be saved if they were all back in Mexico?

"Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties - it was a fantasy. But when I had time to reflect, I felt empty inside. I want to leave a mark on the world." I read: "Before my life was a fantasy, but now it's about feeling righteous over a 5-day mission and figuring out how to live forever" -

So many students just don't care. Trying your best and doing well in school doesn't always fit in with "If it feels good, do it". -

I really feel sorry for this woman, the award is her god? What a sad way to live. -
I think it is a personal choice. I feel convicted not to drink at all, but I know many Christians who do occasionally have a drink. Drinking excessively is always a sin of course, and the thing I would take into consideration is how hard it is for you to stop once you start drinking. You said that in the past you've become drunk, if you just have a bit of alcohol will you be able to stop or will there be a huge temptation to keep drinking? If you can drink a little bit and control yourself, then I see nothing wrong with it. But if it tempts you to keep drinking, I would be a bit more careful with it.

Which is better Public or homeschool?
KeilanS replied to Brianna Nikki's topic in General Discussion
I wouldn't assume I'm right about everything, but I'm pretty sure that homosexuality is wrong (the Bible is kind of clear on that). And I'm fine with diverse viewpoints, just not when a child is young and very impressionable. -

Oh, the one about homosexuality being perfectly normal comes to mind... The issue does not even come up though. I mean come on, yes, if Sally has two mommies, and this comes up in her class, then the teacher is probably going to say that some kids do have two mommies or two daddies. Thats not indoctrination though, thats just dealing with the reality of the world we live where that is the case sometimes. That said, I certainly have never seen that kind of a message in our son's decodeables or in his math homework. As far as evolution science goes, which seems to be the biggest opposition some people have to public and private schools, that does not even come up as part of the curriculum until at least Junior High when they start taking biology. Well, maybe the public schools aren't that bad, I'm Canadian and I plan to stay Canadian, so I really don't have to worry about it. I just don't want to send a child to a school were homosexuality is considered and said regularly to be perfectly normal. As for evolution, I'm not too worried. I will tell my child about the debate and hope they can make the decision on their own. The world accepts evolution as fact, and I for one am glad to have a basic knowledge of it (that I got in school) whether I believe it is true or not. -

Homosexuality is the one that comes to mind, maybe there are others, but I wouldn't want my child in a place where everyone is constantly telling him that homosexuality is normal and anyone who says otherwise is a bad person. -

I just got this email from the David Suzuki foundation. I swear I'm not making this up. This is probably the most amazing email I've ever gotten, I'll let you all know once I stop laughing. :)

KeilanS replied to Brianna Nikki's topic in General Discussion
In Canada we have government funded Catholic schools, so that is where I go. (I'm not sure how that isn't a violation of the church and state laws, but whatever). If I lived in the US, I think I would want to put my child in a private Christian school (or homeschool them) up until grade 7 or 8 and then give them the choice to go a public school. I don't want to be worrying about the bad influence on my child until they are old enough to realize the lies that they are being taught without getting confused as a young child might. -
You have too many friends when you start neglecting one friend for another. That is why you need to go in levels. You can have your "top-level" friends who you spend the most time, I have 3-4 friends like this, then you get the next level of friends who you enjoy hanging out with but don't spend all your time with, I probably have 20-ish in this group. Then you have some casual friends who you're on good terms with and you can have a good conversation, but you don't see them much. I have many many people I'd put in this group. So you can never have too many friends, you just need to make sure you aren't hurting them by not putting enough effort into each individual friendship.

I think I should go to every news article and catagorize the general responses as: 1) It's the environmentalists fault. 2) It's the communists fault. 3) It's the terrorist fault. 4) It's Bush's fault. Every single news topic since I started regularly reading the news forums would fit almost perfectly into one of those.
