  1. Too funny!!!!!
  2. I thought this thread was new, and It may be, but very popular apparently....LOL. I just had to ad my 2 cents even if it doesn't get seen. As far as "real men" go, I think this goes back to the old saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I know my girlfriend of five years thinks I am a "real man", but in the same respect I know there are many others who would disagree with her. As men go, we are all "real", it's just we don't all share the same downfalls, but we all have them. I honestly think that being a "real man" as some would put it....isn't so much a reflection of what one does on a daily basis, as is how a man deals with each and every individual situation. Regardless of the quirks you find in your mate, (and they'll have some) I think its more important how that person deals with you as an individual. It looked like you have a long list of peeves Marnie.....LOL, but I bet, if you ended up with someone who had every one of those "bad qualities" but was still able to consider you above himself, you'll have your real man. Just my opinion

TY Floatingaxe I had to take one last peek at this thread before I went to bed last night....LOL, and thought about what you said. I also came to the conclusion, that I was in fact, over thinking things just a tad. The message, is actually fairly simple. In regular terms, if you don't have love, spiritual gifts "won't work", and if they won't work, they cannot bear fruit, which is also how one can tell the difference between someone who claims to have a spiritual gift and one who actually does. (by the fruit). I guess this is a good spot to dig in a little deeper into what I was trying to figure out through this post, now that I understand that part. 1 Corinthians CH 12 talked about the body of Christ and all our rolls, and the significance of each person as a member of the whole body of Christ. Paul illustrates the body with a physical depiction like, eyes, ears, the head and feet, and speaks about how if one member is affected, the whole body is effected. (keep this in mind) Someone in chat last night made a comment, that unbelievers watch us and judge God through our actions. We know that there are people who claim to either have spiritual gifts, and either do not, or don't have love so their gifts do not bear fruit. So these actually effect the whole body of Christ (make us look bad). Now, Paul says that there will be those who have spiritual gifts, whatever those may, be and nowhere in the Bible have I read that these gifts at any time or any reason will no longer exist, other than failing for lack of love. In CH 1 of 1 Corinthians, Paul speaks about the division of the Church. 1 Corinthians 1:10-12 10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. 11 My brothers, some from Chloe's household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another "I follow Cephas"; still another, "I follow Christ". 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Where you baptized into the name of Paul? What would Paul say about the division of the church today? Today he might say something mor like: I follow Pentecostal"; another, "I follow Baptist"; another "I follow Catholics"; still another, "I follow Christ. I personally am non-denominational for this very reason. Being raised Baptist, I know they don't believe in spiritual gifts such as speaking in tongues, or at least that it doesn't happen as often as Pentecostals like to say they do, and you know the bickering that goes back and forth among Baptists and Pentecostals. I am not really trying to get into the differences between denominations, I'm just pointing out how certain denominations seem to hinge on specific spiritual gifts. Now, I'm not picking on Pentecostal or saying they all do this, but I have been to churches where they speak in tongues every service, whats more it bares no fruit, not the speaking in tongues itself. I'm just using this as an example and already know there are other denominations that do things simularly. The point is this. You have churches claiming to have spiritual gifts and baring no fruit as a result of those gifts, other than "bad fruit". As Paul said, if one member of the body suffers the entire body suffers. ok......i have to stop here before my brain explodes...LOL Feedback please

I can't speak for everyone CJ, but taking the time that you have for such well thought out, sincere advice and encouragement is something I would not take for granted, and appreciate more than words I think if you have something worth saying, and you certainly do, then you have to say it the way it was meant to be said. Thank you spending some of your time on me today

Thank you for clarifying that for me Floatingaxe Next question....LOL. Now, where Paul says "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal", sounds to me like he is saying without love "you're just making noise", or not saying anything important. If this is true, does this kind of person really have any spiritual gift if they don't have love? Because if they had love, their words would also have meaning right? Without love, the words have no meaning, right? Or won't bare fruit, as someone else put it.
  6. I see what you mean. Jesus also told the Pharisees he would tear this temple down and restore it in 3 days. They had no way of knowing he was talking about his body and that he would be raised from the dead. I have often wondered what exactly is meant by the seven day creation myself.

Hmmmm, this is interesting. Where your Bible says Charity, mine says love. I have a NIV mens devotional. I wonder if anyone can elaborate on this translation, or why my NIV would use the word love instead of charity?

I'm sure it is. I'm reading through the whole book of 1 Corinthians right now. I don't have a Church or anything like that, so this is the only way I have to discuss things that I have read, and express my thoughts about them. I wouldn't consider my self overly knowledgeable, but I do enjoy discussing it
  9. Yes it's free. It's a Blog post, and Google Maps is a free service. It's like search, but now they've allowed businesses to add coupons for their listing for free. For example, if you were to do a local search, and were looking for somewhere to get your oil changed, not only would Google Maps give you directions on how to get there, but you could print a coupon too. That's what the whole thing is about.
  10. Nope, no fee. Not to consumers or businesses. That's why I posted it. The reason I didn't just post the entire article is because I wrote it and I own the copyright to the content (the article). But no, there's no fee at all, just good information. You'll notice a link to google Maps on there too where you can check it out for yourself if you like. I was hoping everyone would benifit from the information. If not, delete the thread. I happen to like humble pie
  11. Guess they didn't see that one coming LOL
  12. I like mine with eggs
  13. I totally get what you are saying CJ, and have felt the very same way many many times myself. I think you know who your friends are when they ask you how you are and without giving it any thought you just say what's on your mind.
  14. I have been reading the book of 1 Corinthians and today read chapter 12 and 13 where it talks about the body of Christ and spiritual gifts. Chapter 12 pretty much illustrates the importance of each member of the body of Christ. In Chapter 13 verses 1-3 Paul explains basically, that spiritual gifts are nothing without love. In verse 4-8 of chapter 13 he goes on to explain that love is patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, is not rude, is not self seeking, is not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil, rejoices in truth, protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres, and never fails. What I took away from this reading was that not only are spiritual gifts not possible without love, since love is incorruptible, it are those individual spiritual gifts that make the body of Christ functional as a whole, no matter how seemingly unimportant that spiritual gift might be. (on a lighter note: I might be more like a "toe nail" but my job in the body of Christ is still important....... somehow) Anyway...........am I on the right page here?
  15. Yep, I'm pretty sure that's where it was heading
  16. And for which I have no good advice by the way...LOL
  17. OK, hold the phone here just a second. I saw several threads here stating dating is somehow bad or a bad idea. That is just absurd. You have to go through the dating process in order to be married. The real issue here is what is the right way to go about dating as a Christian, which I believe was also the information the person who posted this topic was looking for.
  18. What? Why do you assume dating has to involve pre-marital sex? I think Marnie made a very good point. I would also like to ad that if you are seeking out a fellow Christian when choosing whom to date, you're IMHO still putting god first.
  19. I hope this isn't too "self serving" since it is an excerpt from my blog, but it is pretty nifty and thought many of you would enjoy it. This is brand new by the way, and just started yesterday. I posted in "General Discussion" because this post has no Christian content, but it is a good tid bit of info to have I think. I think most of you will find it useful and who knows, maybe you know a small local christian business who could benefit from this. Google Maps Save Consumers Money With Local Coupons Google Maps also known as Google Local not only has the ability to show you how to get from point A to point B, or locate an address for you complete with directions, but now you can save money too. Google Maps now provides businesses with the opportunity to ad a coupon to their Google Maps listings for free. Continue reading

    APOSTASY

Constantine was the first Roman Emperor who was a Christian. Is that what you meant? As far as Christians thinking Jesus was born on the 25th, like youreself, most of us are fully aware that there is no record of the exact day, or even month Jesus was born, yet we do celebrate it anyway. If we celebrated on July 25th instead, you likely would have said the same thing, no? The important thing isn't what day he was born, or what day we celebrate his birth, but that he was, in fact, born.
  21. What was the phone number for that place again?
  22. Thanks Rose!
  23. I'm not that petty that I care....ok well I care, but I am not going to be upset because someone disagrees with me. I work in sales, people disagree with me every day. Your comments seemed abrasive, and it seemed to me it was because I didn't agree with you. And you just kept comming back posting them. I kept comming back too but it's my thread, I'm supposed to. It seemed to me you just kept comming back to get in one more "jab". This was not about being in disagreement. Anyway, I'm dropping it. Hope you're not too sore with me.
  24. I would get that if you hadn't said it after I made the statement I didn't mean to start a debate. I posted what I did because I found it significant. I wasn't trying to argue a point. Only one person was "pickin up what I was layin down". Everyone else just wanted to tell me I was wrong and make "off comments". Maybe you guys like to debate, but I was "sharing an experience". Thought this was the kind of place to do that. Now, I won't even be able to discuss it because the entire thread is ruined. They may as well delete the entire thing. At any rate, I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot. I really am. This just didn't turn out to be what I had hoped for.
  25. HAHA! I was thinking the same thing!
