  1. hey would Joel Osteen be like these you have described?
  2. Thanks eric...I have nothing to say but shame on them and it is for these reasons that the Lord tells us to be armed with the Truth of His Word.
  3. GymRose said: so it looks like what we are seeing is that both sides, those who aren't "right" in their walk and those who are trying to get them "right", being wrong. It is good that there are those who want people to live lives that God has outlined for them. And it is good that people make those changes. The problem is those who want people to get their lives straight push so hard and make it very difficult especially for those who are young in the faith to do things in God's time and not people's time. Neither side of the fence is in the right. Those who are playing God's advocates that push so hard people feel as if they are being brow beaten into conforming that eventually they push people away by their actions. And those who are trying so hard to please those people loose sight of God and His power to create change many times give up with the thought of what' the use, I'll never be good enough for God since I am surely not good enough for people. In every way that God has changed me, especially when it comes to using drugs, was such a gentle and tender way that it wasn't until I realized that my life was different and had changed to recognize His miracle of healing. I push so hard against people who try to push me into change before I have received something from the Lord to indicate that I am wrong or living in sin because of something I am doing. It isn't because I don't want to be right with the Lord, and it certainly isn't because I want to be rebellious and stubborn, it is because I know that those who are pushing so hard are in the wrong to consider that taking such a stance with me is going to bring a delightful desire in me to change. But I don't push hard against the things that the Lord teaches me or convicts me of because I know that when the Lord is convicting me, it has no personal agenda tied to it....He is in fact doing it for my good simply because He loves me....pure and simple. One of the many freedoms we have been given in Christ is to grow and change and become perfected in His time and not ours or another's sorry if I have stepped off topic here......
  4. I personally don't get why anyone should or would take issue with hair styles...hair is just hair as you say JamiLea. Sides I think they look kinda cool. JamiLea is it true that a person can't wash their hair when they have dreads?
  5. man...I have a long long way to go
  6. When I first became saved, I was a punk. Half my head was shaved, I wore Doc Martens, dressed in just about all black except for my then cherished red plaid kilt. The person who made me feel most welcome was a lady who had long hair to her waist, and wore long beautiful flowing skirts every single day. I never did ask her about the skirts thing. She certainly showed me that one can dress very modestly, feminine and not look frumpy at all, and be very loving towards others who look very 'different'. I am not sure what exactly my point is, but thought I'd share. By the way, I did change my way of dressing shortly after being born again. My punk dress expressd how I felt on the inside before being saved, and once I was saved, my punk dress on the outside no longer matched what was on the inside. that was a very nice lovely example. The woman did not push and shove how she was or what she thought you should do down your throat or make you in any way feel as if you were committing some kind of doctrinal crime for not dressing in a more modest, feminine and neat way, she set a quiet and meek example and it had an impact that seemed to speak volumes without a beating...thank you Emily~Anne
  7. Richard Wurmbrand was a Christian who lived in Romania during the early days of the communistic rule there. It was required of the Christians to either go under cover or face sure imprisonment and possible death. Many times they would pretend to be doing one thing when in fact they were delivering tracts to people to bring people to the Lord, there was an endless list of activities they performed under the radar of the communistic party in order to preach the Gospel to the people. Those who did not go underground were either put into prisons and tortured to death or they were forced to sign over their allegiance to the communistic party who would dictate to them what could and could not be said during worship services. For over 14 yrs Richard Wurmbrand was imprisoned and tortured by the communists for his unbending faith in Christ, and was finally ransomed for 10,000.00 (the highest ransom paid for any prisoner as Wurmbrand was a great threat to them) and forced to leave the country by the communistic party. He came to the US and died here in the 1990's. While he was here he wrote several books on the things that he went through and many others during those terrible days of persecutions and executions for Christ. One of his most profound statements to me was that there were many communists who came to Christ, because of all of the these people who were undercover and pretending to the outside to be something they were not....Richard Wurmbrand is the founder of "Voice of the Martyr's" There is a war going on...when there is war there are things that are done to infiltrate the enemies camps....it was done in the OT and it was God who dictated what and how they would trick the enemy. Nothing has changed, war is war and I believe God gives people the ideas needed to get His word to people and gives them the plans to make it work. So my answer to you artsylady, is yes I believe it IS okay for Christians to go undercover...it they are serving the Lord and doing it to carry His message, then by all means go undercover if needed. (there is a book that he wrote called "tortured for Christ" and can be ordered online through "voice of the martyrs" and other Christian book stores, it is a wonderful read and it has caused me to look at things much differently than I used to, I recommend the book to everyone)
  8. Lord God I pray for all people who do not know you. I pray for those people who have received a deceitful religion that hates and kills their own. And Lord I pray for the hearts of my brothers and sisters to help us to love and pray for our neighbors, those You have created and who You long to bring to Your fold as You have declared You would that none should perish. Bring conviction to the hearts of ALL mankind... And Lord I pray that you have received the spirit of this innocent child, that you comfort the parents of this child and that you rescue this man who murdered the child. Lord through Your sovereign grace and mercy convict this man and bring Him to you...forgive his ignorance and hatred Father. In Jesus name Amen
  9. hey that sounds like Edith Ann...remember her? A Lilly Tomlin character...I don't need to go to school anymore I learned it all today....
  10. Hello Honeybee, I come with all humility and I have a desire to know God's word and His word only as the truth. I believe that there is a vast difference in what God ordained in a relationship as the man being the head of his wife and Christians (male or female) roles in the church today. When 1 Timothy is quoted as being an ordinance for the Body of Christ on how the church should be put in order, my gaurders come up because Paul was writing to Timothy (chapter 1:2) some advise on some questions he had to paul. These letters to Timothy were not addressed to the church like other Epistles are. we do know that Paul, in these two books, is responding to something Timothy said or asked unless Paul was just shooting from the hip and speeking something randomly which I doubt was the case. Communications go two ways, not just one way. Have you ever gotten a letter from your pastor on instructions on something totaly random that you have had no communications about? I do believe that we can learn from the books of timothy and yes take it as the word of God, but when interpreting the bible we have to know the history of what was going on back then, who it is addressed to and who are the people involved, where is this taking place, when did this take place, etc... All of this stuff is pertinate to rightly dividing God's Word (2 Tim. 2:15). Threre are a lot of things in the bible that if not interpreted correctly, they would lead people in great error...for instince: Does the fact that both the OT and NT provide guidelines for slaves mean that the bible condones slavery? Should we put out a fleece before God (as Gideon did) when we need direction? Since David and Solomon had more than one wife, is it OK for us to have multiple wives as well? Should we greet one another with a holy physical kiss? Should we hate our parents (Luke 14:26)? If we have a problem with lust, should we gouge our eyes out? If we have a problem with our hands, should we amputate them? Should Women keep silent in the church today? I would encourage you to study the history of the situation that Timothy was in and why Paul was speaking these things to Timothy. And I would also ask you to excersise some humility and ask God to open your eyes to the truth of all of this. I would also ask for at least three verses in the epistles to the church that say that we shouldn't have any women in authority. God spoke this in my heart this morning. "Jeff, if I had two people to choose from to send [yes even God is limited to who he can send because of peoples choice to disobey Him] to a particular nation to be the head of a minsitry that would preach the Word to many and get many saved, and those two people were a male and a female...if I choose the male and he decided not to obey me, would I just let this nation suffer and watch all of them go to hell because I refuse to send the woman because supposedly I won't allow women to be in authority? NO, I would send the woman." Take it as it is...women are vessles of the Lord just as much as men are vessles. I don't say all of this to attack you...I want the truth to be heard just as much as you do. After all, we are family...we serve the same God and We do agree on one thing for sure...He is King and the ONLY Wise God in whom we should all put our trust. amen. In Love, J really GOOD post
  11. exockstar said: indeed they do and it is appointed to the Lord to determine whose role is which...again, how can we question the Potter and how HE deterimines the use of HIS vessels?....or do we not remember His anger at those who would question who He uses and how He uses His clay pots? Who can understand His thoughts and His ways? Not us mere human beings. However if we do allow ourselves to be ONE with Him as He is ONE with us, all would stop thinking and speaking for HIM as to how He chooses His servants to serve HIM.... Please let us not forget that He has poured His Spirit out on all and has given gifts to all. No ONE has the right or the authority to tell anyone that they should not be in a leadership role because of their gender. If that was the case there never would have been women leaders in the days of the OT & NT...but when there is an agenda to keep things stale and comfortable all the rest of the Word is forgotten and a few chosen verses are used to prove a point that is full of holes. <sigh> again, there is no spiritual heirarchy...there is men and women who would like to believe themselves superior and in a better position to lead or to speak with authority as to who should lead but then, that is the flesh and the flesh is the seat of all evil deed and thought...pride goes before the fall.
  12. question, or points of view, like these are why people can't digest what is written. it's an understanding that there is a spiritual hierarchy. no there isn't Jhn 17:20 "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will[fn5] believe in Me through their word; Jhn 17:21 "that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. Jhn 17:22 "And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: Jhn 17:23 "I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
  13. I was just curious as it was rather vague...thanks for your reply Suzanne, have a blessed day....
  14. Suzanne, are you speaking directly to me, or when you say "you" is that a generalization? You are the one blessed with a vision from God, Jackie, and that is very lovely and personal. That makes you very special in the eyes of your Heavenly Father. INDEED!

  16. What Scripture have we set aside???? I can think of this one: 1 Tim 2 : 11 Let the women learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a women to teach, nor usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. are we all not suppose to be learning in subjection/submission? did the Lord say this? or did Paul say this? you will notice that Paul says "I" not the Lord... he specifies whether it is him or the Lord that says it.... as he does in other places.... later you will also find that God will pour His Spirit out upon all flesh, and our SONS AND DAUGHTERS WILL prophecy and and so forth..... the Great Commission is for just MEN? or ALL BELIEVERS? Is God a respecter of Men only? or is not a respecter of any one? just asking questions? who did Phoebe and Percilla teach? we also have Deborah, one of the judges, was she not over man as well as women? the woman at the well, brought an entire village to Christ, if not allowed to preach, would that village have come to Him? who was the first witness of the resurrection of Christ? now, i will really step on some toes........ HOW MANY PEOPLE OUT HERE WILL NOT ALLOW A WOMAN TO PREACH OR PASTOR A CHURCH.... VOTE FOR A WOMAN FOR PRESIDENT OR THE SENATE OR CONGRESS OR MAYOR OR GOVERNOR OR ANY OTHER PLACE OF LEADERSHIP........OVER MEN...... if a woman is not to be in a position over a man, she is not to be in any leadership role..... what so ever.... I am not saying one has authority over another... .i am saying i am for all people spreading the Word of God, Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ...... Paul also says he has not baptized many...... does that mean that Baptism is not to be considered important????? mike
  17. I am sure you intended to say "don't". it was a Freudian slip, if you were to ask me...
  18. I like that. It reminds me of the old song. Interesting dream anyway. Maybe I'll be able to think of something spiritual tomorrow. Can't think of anything right now. can't have all things all the time...but if I know you, you'll definitely be back
