  1. as much as i hate snakes, i want one!
  2. usually im against law suits, but i have mixed feelings here, is nice seeing the liberals being on the receiving end for a change.
  3. ROTFL
  4. If you think the revolutionary war was over taxes, then you need to do some serious research, taxes was just the final straw. If you look back at the declaration of independence you will find 27 Biblical reasons for seperating from Great Britain. But that is another topic for another day. I can see this is a pointless debate, so Im going to leave with this. Yes, prayer is a great, excellent thing, however, if you think prayer is enough, your wrong. Just think what wouldve happened if Jesus had stopped at simply prayer. Im sorry, but I believe in a God of action. God loves our prayers-but He wants us to follow them up by action. We need to pray and seek Gods word fervently, and we need to be in the word, but we also have to be doers-in all things.
  5. I dont normally do the same artist back to back, but this song is powerful (and its not all the same, Chris Tomlins in it) anyway, Rebecca St. James and Christ Tomlin with Expressions of your love. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mrPlYOLR0E
  6. Im not reading into anything your missing the point so bad I wonder if your even reading my replies. The bible is full of people who were active in their local politics Just because their government wasnt setup like ours, doesnt mean they wernt active. There are countless people in the bible-I have listed several already-who were active politically. We are to be christians in everything-in our personal lives, at work, at church, and christians in the political arena as well. You forget, America was founded on Christian principles. Founded. The revolutionary war was led by pastors, elders, deacons, those who wernt afraid to stand and fight for what they believe in. And no, He obviously didnt use born agrain christians (at least not all of them) to put Obama in office, in fact I dare say God more allowed Obama in then He "put" him there, but by refusing to vote, your saying that you dont want God to use you to remove him. The system is setup to let us have a voice-even if "God predestines" everything like you suggest, then God "predestined the system" and by not voting, your going against Gods "predestined system" So your contradicting your own logic by not voting.
  7. Your example of Joshua doesn't apply since entering the land was not up for a vote. Yahweh commanded and Israel needed to obey or rebel. Joshua and Caleb were correct in trying to help their brethren overcome their fears and encourage/admonish them to enter the land. It is not a sin to not vote for president, but it was sin to not enter the land. And just because I don't vote does not mean I don't voice my opinion and stand for what is right. I simply don't voice my opinion with a vote. Also, I don't complain about who is in office because I know who put him there (Yahweh). To complain against Obama is to complain against Yahweh. We are not to speak evil of the ruler of our people (Ex 22:28). You wrote, "if you choose the bench, then you had just as much a part of putting him there as the person who actually voted for whos in office." It seems you are not getting the point of my position. Neither is Ed who wrote, "If nothing else, the American people may be presented with a CLEAR choice - and if they choose wrongly we won't have anyone to blame but ourselves." We DO NOT place people in office with our vote. Yahweh places people in office according to His will. My vote will not put Romney in office, nor will my lack of voting put Obama in office. Acknowledge the sovereign dominion of our Creator and know that "the most high Elohim rules in the kingdom of men, and that He appoints over it whomsoever He will." (Dan 4:32; 5:21). Your missing the point entirely. first off, it was a vote persay, though not official like ours, but the point was they were involved. Regardless of what the majority said. They chose to get involved in politics. if it was a official vote, they would have voted, so my argument still stands. The old testament is full of people who chose to speak up. I mean lets look at Noah. The earth was going to be destroyed, and everyone in it, regardless, God already told Noah that, yet Noah continued to preach salvation for the 120 years it took him to build the ark. By your line of thought, he shouldn't have-they were all going to die anyway. He did it because it was the right thing to do. pretty much all the prophets were involved in the politics of their country. I can go on and on. No they didnt have a republic somewhere where they could vote-but everywhere in the Bible you see men of God getting involved. Your "Gods gonna put in who he wants regardless if I vote or not" is not a reason, its a lame excuse. by that whole logic, why should any of us do anything? lets all sit at home and watch TV. no need to witness, that persons gonna become saved regardless of what I do or dont do, I have no say in the matter. My brother in church is cheating on his wife, but nothin I say will change anything only God can do that. Its pre-destination at its hardest, and theres absolutly nothing Biblical about it. God didn't call us to do pushovers. God never said "just sit back and let me do all the work" In fact, He rarely does the work Himself, He uses us to do it the vast majority of the time. God uses His people to do His work. So by doing nothing, your basically saying "hey God, don't use me"
  8. if one follows that line of thought joco, yes if its Gods will, then Obama will get in office anyway. doesnt mean we should sit by and let our country fall away. That is of course, if you follow the whole predestination thing. I personally see a difference between allowing something to happen, and forcing it. We see in the Bible countless times where the majority went against God-and the few stood firm. For example, lets look at Joshua and the promised land-Joshua and one other, said "yes, lets take the land" the rest said no. So they didn't enter the land, and had to wander for 40 years. Did Joshua change his vote, or choose not to voice his opinion, just because the majority said so? was it predestined that they not enter the land? the answer to both questions is a firm no. Both Joshua and Caleb, voiced their opinion, and stood for what they thought was right, they didnt back down, they didnt use the "we dont have to voice our opinion excuse" they did what was right. So, now the question is, do we stand for what we believe in, or allow our country to fall apart around us? Sure, it may and will fall apart around us anyway, but that gives us no excuse to sit on the bench. Be a Joshua, let your voice be heard. If not, don't complain about whos in office-after all, if you choose the bench, then you had just as much a part of putting him there as the person who actually voted for whos in office. Inaction is action, so regardless of whether you put your vote down on paper or not, your doing something, so you might as well go down and vote. The more people choose to use their right not to vote then sooner or later, you wont have a choice. that right will be taken away. Id rather go with the later.
  9. Yes, God may choose whos in office. It doesn't mean He expects us to sit back and do nothing. just because God has a plan, gives us no right to sit idly by and do nothing. Keep in mind, if God chose these leaders, He also chose the very leaders who set the system up, so that we could have a voice in it. If God put Obama in office-He did so with a purpose, to teach us something. Maybe its our wakeup call, kind of like the many He gave Israel. So that means maybe its time to wake up and vote. If not for Romney, then pick someone else. but vote regardless.
  10. Butero is right, the right to vote is a privilige, and we should use it. Im not telling you or anyone who you should vote for-but I think as american citizens we need to to vote. go through the candidates, and think, and pray, and meditate on scripture, and decide who you think would be the best choice for the job, and vote for that person. It doesnt matter if its third party or not. I do, personally believe right now that while I dont particularly like Romney that much, he is the best candidate, and his pick of VP is re-affirming that. But don't decide just because thats my opinion-research the cadidates, what they stand for, and pray about it, and cast your vote for who you think would best do the job.
  11. I find it it a worse crime to not vote then to vote for the lesser of two evils. Not voting, is the same as voting for whoever wins. If you want to vote third party thats fine, but if you dont vote you have no right to complain is my take on it. The system was setup so we have at least some say in the matter, refusing to vote "because theres no christians running" is a lousy excuse, and if we all follow it, sooner or later we will lose the right to vote. Every election I hear the "not voting because theres no christians" well guess what people, first off, thats part of why were in the shape were in today. Christians refusing to vote. Second off, we live in the land of the free, religion shouldnt be the only consideration. Ill put it this way, lets say you own a business, and you need to hire another person to get a very important job done. Now, lets say this job is your biggest job, and if you don't hire someone to do it, you wont get the job done, and will lose the customer, and you can't afford to lose the customer. Now, lets say only two people apply for the job. Now, you don't like either of them, but you have to hire one, so logically, what do you do? you pick the one that is most qualified for the job, like him or not. The presidency is a job-were voting for who the US wants to hire for the job. Now face it, you all would be offended if you walked in and applied for a job at say, wal-mart, and they refused to hire you because of your religion. You would throw a fit, and say you were being persecuted, that we live in a free nation that was founded on christianity, which is true. But the key word is free nation. By refusing to vote for Romney simply because he is mormon, is the exact same thing as a company refusing to hire you because your christian. Its the same thing. its religious segregation. Its saying "I don't like your religion, so Im not voting for you" nevermind the fact he maybe a very good president and able to do the job competently. Its borderline hypocricy is what it is, offended because people are picking on the christians, but doing the same thing to others. Now, if you don't want to vote for Romney, because you don't think hes the best candidate, thats fine-vote for someone else, even third party, but to refuse to vote simply because none of the candidates are "christian" isn't right-even our christian forefathers would be rolling in their graves to be hearing things like that. Vote for what candidate you feel can best do the job. Put religion aside, put their morals and their ability to lead at the top.
  12. Protesting, is standing outside with a sign. Protesting, is writing an editorial in the local paper. spraypainting a wall-thats vandalism. Seems pretty straightforward to me, hope they fine the living socks off this guy at the very least.
  13. Im guessing most of you havent bought a gun recently, but background checks are already required.
  14. you know, first off, he was smart not to say anything about gun control laws. Gun Controls a hot topic, and right now the NRA is the largest legal entity in the US (even bigger then the ACLU) And hes not going to take a stand one way or the other, it could sway the election against him. As far as the soul searching goes, it pains me to say this, it really does, but hes right. America does need to do some soul searching, and they need to put God in their souls. It would solve the gun violence problem 100%.
  15. Thats just sad. When someone goes out and shoots someone like this-even if THEY HAD been muslim, he was planting flowers for crying out loud . . . its mindless, and it makes us out to be no better then the actual muslims over seas that strap bombs across their chests and run into a crowded market. In my mind, there is no need to hurt anyone for no reason, regardless of what religion or skin color. Jesus didn't discriminate, we shouldn't either.
  16. I loved the blind side very moving. Thought it was very clean to, there was some mild language, but very mild I thought.
  17. Its a very good song. If you actually scroll back a couple pages, you will find the original video. Though, I like the slide show someone did a very good job with it.
  18. it really doesn't matter what religion they are, theres no call for senseless violence like this. None whatsoever.
  19. my wife had feelings for me looong before I had any for her, in fact it was a good 7-8 months before I started really getting romantic towards her. She waited for me to make the first move, and it was a wise choice-if she had made the first move, i prolly woulda run the opposite way lol. With that being said, youve told him your feelings, let him process them and give him space to breath. It sounds like there might be somethin there. Now, dont mistake that for saying stay away-still hang out, be his best friend, what Im saying is, let him make the next move. Just my .02 cents.
  20. The one thing I know in life, is never underestimate young children or little old ladies. Kids, don't think about consequences, old ladies dont care. As far as secure, well, it probably was depending on how you look at it. Best way to describe it, movie analogy. Take the Death Star from star wars A new Hope. Its defenses were designed around a large scale attack from big star ships-small, one man star fighters wernt deemed a threat, so they managed to penetrate the defenses, and blow up the death star. You notice, by the time the second death star was made, it was far better protected. Same thing here, the facility was designed to keep other, militant people out-large scale intruders or those carrying enough equipment to do damage. A little old lady and 2 other senior citizens brandishing fence cutters and spray paint wernt considered a threat, though I imagine thats changed now.
  21. Ive never heard of him before, but after listening, enjoyed it very much, had to hear the whole 8 minutes, and it was worth it!
