What if the Anti-Christ was not a person at all?
LossForWords replied to forrestkc's topic in Prophecy
I don't think anything was meant as an "arguement" per say...it was just a thought. An interesting thought, but just a thought. Nobody is preaching it as truth, or that they even strongly believe in it, just saying that it could be possible. -

Ever see the movie Tron? Nope...but I looked it up. Something about a hacker who is split into molecules and transported into a computer and he tries to replace "Master Control" with "Tron"...I was like a year old when it came out. Any good? -

You should write a book...in fact, can I borrow your idea and write it myself? -
Does anybody remember?

I like Garfield. I have a Garfield classroom. The room in our house that we use for an office/library is devoted to Garfield. One day I am going to purchase an exotic shorthair cat (a persian cat with short hair). He will be orange and I will definately name him Garfield. We are thinking about getting a pug too, and of course I will name him Odie. ,;::\::\ ,'/' `/'`/ _\,: '.,-'.-':. -./"' : : :\/, ::. ,:____;__; :- :" ( .`-*'o*',); \.. ` `---'`' / `:._..- _.' ,; . `. /"'| | \ ::. ) : : |" ( \ | :.(_, : ; \'`-'_/ / `:.. , _,' |,| : | |`| | | |,| | | ,--.;`| | '..--. /;' "' ; '..--. )) \:.___(___ ) ))' Garfield `-'-'' -

Ok...so I'm back to work today. It's a work day in the classroom, no kids yet. I remember when I was in highschool we took keyboarding classes, and our teacher had these things, pieces of paper with keyboarding codes on them (type 4 m's, then 3 spaces, then 7 m's, then 3 spaces, then 9 m's, then enter...) And once you finished typing it in, you ended up with a picture on your paper...made up of the letters and spaces you had typed. DOES ANYBODY REMEMBER WHAT THESE PICTURES WERE CALLED? I've tried looking it up online, but I am not getting the results that I need. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Here's an example of a picture: .-''-.__.-'00 '-' ' ' ' ' ' ' ' '-. '.___ ' . .--_'-' '-' '-' _'-' '._ V: V 'vv-' '_ '. .' _..' '.'. '=.____.=_.--' :_.__.__:_ '. : : (((____.-' '-. / : : (((-'\ .' / _____..' .' '-._____.-' Ok so when the picture comes up on the boards it doesn't look the same (when I copied it out of an email it was an alligator), but you get the point...

Any advice on a new computer?
LossForWords replied to LossForWords's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
Thanks to everybody for the advice on a new computer. We were actually able to purchase one last night... First, let me tell you how it happened, because it's truely a "God Thing," and then I'll tell you about the computer. So the law firm that my husband works for ended up going with a new company for their retirement plans (a buddy the boss hunts with works for the company so they were able to get a good deal). Well, my husband talked to the person who switched their retirement plans and asked if he could also send him his life insurance policy because it seemed odd to have one company handling his retirement and another company to handling his life insurance. The man said that would be a wise choice and even gave him a great deal. Instead of paying $50 a month for $100,000 life insurance, he now pays $39 a month for $250,000 life insurance. As if this wasn't great enough...Yesterday my husband gets a check from the old life insurance people for closing his account...$1500...needless to say, this has paid for our new computer and our Christmas presents this year without having to touch our savings or pull from our paychecks! Whopee!! So we got a really nice computer. It's called an EMachine (which I think is the company that merged with Gateway). It has an intel pentium 4 processor. The memory is "1024MB DDR"--whatever that means. The hard drive is 200GB...don't know what that means either. It has the DVD/CW RW (so we can still burn and create our own stuff). It has a digital media manager (for pictures and videos). And it has a 19 inch flat screen LCD monitor--I took it out of the box and passed out for awhile...that thing is almost as big as our TV! It comes with Microsoft XP, but it also comes with a free upgrade to Microsoft Vista whenever that comes out. We ended up paying around $550 for it, but it has a $50 rebate with it so I guess it will end up costing around $500--though when we were reseaching it last night one of the few complaints was that the company takes a really long time with the rebates--so even if we don't end up getting the rebate soon, it was still a good deal. I named him Blue (because the power button, speakers, and mouse glow a lovely blue) and I will be treating him like the new addition to our family that he is until I know he can pull his weight around the house. Thanks again for all the advice, we really listened to what ya'll said, researched, and then when God provided that check (Thank You Jesus)...we purchased. I'm so excited!! -
As some of you know, I've had problems with my computer at home. The keys were falling off, I was super gluing them back on, it would die and then come back to life and then die again, etc.... Well, this weekend it took it's final breath. I gave it a proper burial by throwing it out the window, running it over with my car, stomping on it, blessing it with selective Christian curse words (such as "dad gummit"-sp?), and finally giving it to my dog so she could give it a good burial under 6 feet of dirt. Maybe I should have sold it on Ebay for the parts. So...obviously our home needs a new computer. The old one was a laptop, we are looking for a desk top. Any suggestions on a good brand? Keep in mind...I teach and my husband practices law at a small town law firm (which means he sometimes gets paid with "things" instead of money.) My husband uses the computer to search Ebay, check his sports boards, chat with retired baseball players, and to write songs. I use the computer to type lesson plans, search the net, chat with ya'll on here, write, and play with digital pictures. Sometimes we like to make music CDs, or save pictures to a CD. That's pretty much all we use it for...we don't need anything fancy, but we'd like to get the most bang for our buck. Any help would be so greatly appreciated!

Ok...so I thought this was a good question. And as I could not give a reasonable answer myself, I looked it up. I'm going to add the link and the article I read (which will make this post rather long), but first... When I was a teenager we had a woman who worked with our youth group, she was a stand up, shout it out Christian, who I really enjoyed spending time with. When she had been younger, she road with the Hells Angels (a motorcyle gang of sorts), she was also the "head" of an all woman's Hells Angels motorcycle gang, they rode around on their bikes and just caused trouble where ever they went. She used to tell us that when she became a Christian later on in life, she was convicted to totally give up her motorcycle lifestyle (no more leather, no more bikes...) Because she had chosen to take that lifestyle to an extreme, she could not go back with a good conscience and ride, she knew that whenever she sat on a motorcycle again, her mind would try to take her back to those choices she made earlier in life. She used to tell us that other people were not going to go to Hell if they decided to ride a motorcycle or wear a leather jacket. And she would never try to convince anybody not to get on a motorcycle or wear a leather jacket. She just didn't do it anymore because it was her own personal conviction. I am a Christian but in no way am I personally convicted to stay away from leather jackets. However, I used to watch alot of bad things on tv late at night. I tended to write alot at night, and when I wrote I would watch HBO (at night, there are horrible things on this channel, but for some reason I would watch-temptation would often get the better of me.) Often times what I watched would affect the way I wrote. When I serisouly devoted my life to Christ, I was convicted to not watch tv after a certain time. Not every Christian is convicted to turn off the television at 10:00pm. And I would in no way try to convince another Christian that they should. Some Christians can resist temptation and watch ESPN instead of racy HBO movies (my husband in fact is one of these people who will watch sports till all hours of the morning and will not once think about turning it to watch sex on tv). I on the other hand am still tempted to watch these shows and movies so I have a conviction to stay away from the tv at night. I have no idea why some people have different convictions than other people. But I did read this article, maybe it will be helpful in explaining... http://www.ankerberg.com/Articles/practica...ty/PC0804W1.htm I'll copy and paste some of what the online article says... The word "conviction" comes from "convictio." Convictions are strong beliefs or truths that one is fully convinced of, having been persuaded by evidence or argument and not merely subjective feelings. We have a conviction when we are thoroughly convinced or fully persuaded that something is true. Convictions are more than personal preferences or subjective opinions; they involve strong beliefs that manifest themselves in actions. A conviction is a strong belief that we have obediently made a part of our life and practice. Having convictions is being so thoroughly convinced that something is absolutely true that you take a stand for it regardless of the consequences. Paul said that "the Gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction" (1 Thess.1: 5) Christian convictions, based on the Word of God, are of varying types. We may become convinced concerning a given interpretation, a specific application, a general principle, and an application of a principle. Some Christians argue against holding convictions that go beyond direct commands of Scripture. We should be thoroughly convinced when the evidence warrants and should act accordingly. Not every Christian will share the same convictions. Conviction describes the work of the Holy Spirit by which the satanic blindness is lifted from men

Christa Wells wrote some lyrics to a song that Natalie Grant sings on the Christian Radio station here. Christa Wells wrote the song in response to some very difficult losses. There are obvisouly things in life that we can't understand or explain. God never promised us we'd always be okay, and happy, or that life would be easy. Faith doesn't protect you from pain, it provides you with peace. God only promises that when we do suffer, when we are in pain, we will be held in His arms through every circumstance. Two months is too little They let him go They had no sudden healing To think that providence Would take a child from his mother While she prays, is appalling Who told us we'd be rescued What has changed and Why should we be saved from nightmares We're asking why this happens to us Who have died to live, it's unfair This is what it means to be held How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life And you survive This is what it is to be loved and to know That the promise was that when everything fell We'd be held This hand is bitterness We want to taste it and Let the hatred numb our sorrows The wise hand opens slowly To lilies of the valley and tomorrow This is what it means to be held How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life And you survive This is what it is to be loved and to know That the promise was that when everything fell We'd be held If hope is born of suffering If this is only the beginning Can we not wait, for one hour Watching for our Savior This is what it means to be held How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life And you survive This is what it is to be loved and to know That the promise was that when everything fell We'd be held. I love Jesus...

I'm tiree of being afraid

Psalm 91 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys midday. A thousand my fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you make the Most High your dwelling--even the Lord, who is my refuge--then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways: they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. 'Because He loves me,' says the Lord, 'I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.' That one is mine as well. I remember Psalms 911 (like the emergency number)...in case of an emergency and I feel way too terrified to even get out of bed, I read Psalms 911. I also read a book a few years ago that was extremely amazing...called Freedom from Fear. When I get home I will look and see who wrote the book. I'm afraid of tornadoes as well (even though our house has been in the same place for like 50 years, and there has only been one tornado in the history of our historic county that has ever caused any sort of real damage...I am still convinced that a tornado will somewhere and somehow decide our house is the one to attack). I'm afraid of clowns and pretty much any adult dressed in a costume. I used to be afraid of absolutely everything, and was even prone to panic attacks. But...I left it on the altar one day. And even though a few things (like tornados and clowns) still get under my collar, I know that if anything does ever happen to me...it was #1 God's will and #2 I know where I'll end up. When I think about it rationally, it's not so scary anymore. I am seldom a rational person though and emotions almost always get the better of me...which is why I turn back to Christ and dial up my emergency verse. -
So....how did they finally catch the pig?

I was just reading a post about this up there...in the welcome boards. Xian has a really looooooooong post about Christian goths, it was interesting. Go read it. Read the comments. Form your own opinion.

Ok... Technically the Sabbath never changed, or nobody ever "moved" the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. In earlier times Christians worshipped on Sunday because it is the day of the Ressurection, the day after the Sabbath. The reason why Christian's no longer worship on the Sabbath is because there is no commandment to do so. The practice of attending church (or synagogue) every Sabbath did not originate in the Bible, it originated in Babylonian captivity. The Jews in captivity invented the synagogue as a place to preserve their heritage and their religion in a foreign land...and that's when they began attending church weekly. I guess sometime around the first century or so, Christians (both Jews and Gentiles) continued to attend synagogue on the Sabbath (Saturday) and attended Christian worship services on Sundays. Since the Roman week was ten days long at the time, Sunday didn
