I'm don't want to fight with you guys about it. If you wish to support a charity that donates millions of dollars to an organization that kills thousands of innocent children...so be it. Some people may not be aware of the connection and now they know. Real men do wear pink (its historically a mens color)...real men do not wearing flaming neon pink. The Komen group did NOT change their stance on the Egyptian Forum until they received a buttload of negative press about it, including from Doctors against Racism and Anti-Semitism. Pamela Gellar even wrote them a letter asking them not to participate in the Conference and she received a reply from the Founder Nancy Brinker which was nothing more than excuses and a refusal to do the right thing. Then they flip-flopped after they got so much negative pressure. The Jews are always happy to be an after-thought. lastly, I never said abortion causes breast cancer.
-
Since this is NFL anti-masculinity month I thought it would be prudent to remind everyone that the Susan G Komen foundation has donated millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood over the last few years, inspite of the mounting evidence that abortion is a leading factor in breast cancer. If you are inclined to donate money to cancer research I would suggest finding a charitable foundation that believes in protecting the lives of women...and babies. Its also been a year since the Susan G Komen foundation fronted their anti-semitism...story here

I think Beck started losing people because he got more popular. He is a fierce pro-american, but too often he appears to pander for ratings. I think the beginning of the end for him was the Katie Couric interview. He made glaring gaffs in that interview including saying that "McCain would have been a worse president than Obama." He then started saying things like comparing those that question Obama's birth status with 9/11 truthers. Really... was it a good idea for him to compare many of his audience (who just want to see a birth certificate) with people who believe that the US Gov't sanctioned 9/11? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. I don't think that Beck is considered 'level-headed" enough to most conservatives. He is respected for several reasons (ferocious research, pro-american)...but he's also liable to say some off-the-wall things that most conservatives would rather not be associated with. He's a mainstream Michael Savage.

Update In other news...the military should also ban training exercises in which military personel dress up like the taliban and pretend to raid, capture, interrogate, and shoot US soldiers.

SO if someone was selling a $5000 dollar car for $2000 because they needed the money...you wouldn't buy the car for $2000? You would insist on paying more? Like I said...nobody forced this man into the pawn shop, and nobody forced him to take the $300. He opted to take that option over a variable of other options available in todays world. Its this same mentality that is shutting down payday loan joints all over the country. If you don't like the terms of the deal...turn around and walk away. I don't know...I'm just a very pro-business type of guy...lol.

Pawn Stars can show you how crooked people can be, I was watching it one time when an older gentlemen brought in a Colt revolver from the Civil War era. They offered and paid him $300.00 which I knew right away was a rip off, that revolver was worth a lot more than that. The Pawn Stars resold the revolver for over $1000.00, now I believe in making a profit but taking advantage of that older gentlemen was just wrong. And whats so sad about the show, they have experts that tell how VALUABLE the item is, and they still let the people talk them down. I feel that the need for the money is so great, it blocks good common sense , which should shout!! DID YOU HEAR THAT? YOU'VE GOT A GREAT AND PRICELESS PIECE OF HISTORY!! GET OUT OF THERE AND FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL PAY THE A HIGHER PRICE. True. Heck, they could get better offers if they put their stuff on eBay. Isn't that what ALL pawn shops do? They never give you what an item is worth. They buy low, and sell high. The people selling the item need money and are willing (for some reason) to make that deal. If you take a $1000 dollar item to a pawn shop...they are not gonna give you $1000 and then re-sell the item for $1000. They will pay you as little as they can and then re-sell for as much as they can. Thats not crooked, thats business. Nobody forced the guy to sell his gun to a pawn shop. Nobody forced him to take the deal.

WN: Mosque Controversy Skips Pentagon: Muslims Gather in Daily Prayer
Axxman replied to WorthyNewsBot's topic in U.S. News
Muslims are not stoopid. They are tired of being treated badly because a large portion of their faith has been commando'd by extremists. They completely understand that this is a bad idea, and that placing a mosque in that locale doesn't build bridges. They don't trust Rauf any more than the rest of us do. I don't believe for a second that the majority of muslims want this mosque at ground zero... "The Muslims never asked for this [mosque], and even the angry Muslims do not want it. This is one of the few times when the two opposing sides are in agreement. Nevertheless, the dispute flared up. It made the front pages of newspapers and [featured on] the major television programs. Demonstrations were held in the streets, and large posters were plastered on New York buses, demanding that the construction of the mosque be prevented and reminding everyone of the 9/11 crime. This really is a strange battle! Those pushing to build this mosque may be construction companies, architect firms, or political groups who want to exploit this issue. The individual who submitted the building application -

Not only conservative republicans...but an ever-growing list of muslims are coming out against Rauf (the builder) and his desire to build the center. -
Yeah, me and the kids, sit down every week and watch that show. We laugh our behinds off....haha!

I never understood soap operas. How could people watch that stuff day after day and become so obessed with it? Some people just love drama I guess. Well, shows like Jersey Shore and the kardashians (among multiple others) are almost identical in nature. They are unscripted soap opera's. Now, I'm not a big fan of those idiots on Jersey Shore...but I certainly get it. I would totally rather watch those goons and their drama...than the completely fake and scripted drama of the Soaps, or any other overly-dramatic stuff that appears on the Oxygen channel. Everybody Loves Raymond...we will follow a fictional newspaper sportsguy around and get to know his fictional family and hear his fictional problems and laugh at his witty scripted lines. But, somehow, if they created an unscripted show following a real life newspaper sportsguy and getting to know his real family and hearing how he deals with real problems and hearing his real personality (witty or not)...suddenly everyone wants to know "why would anyone watch this guy"...lol. I've been a longtime fan of unscripted tv. I don't always like every version or variety...but I think the genre has, and will continue to dominate TV because Hollywood just isn't as creative anymore. Why watch fictional characters...when you can watch the real thing? We've had TV shows create bars, junkyards, laundrymats, radio and tv stations, police stations, fire houses...on and on and on. So why not show far more entertaining and real life people in those exact same scenarios doing real life things, making real life decisions, and often being real life idiots.

I stopped reading Mr Jack's diatribe when he started propping up silliness like the mythical "water vapor canopy"...lol. If you believe in that domino, pretty much everything after that will fall too.

WN: New Study: Oil from Gulf Spill Settling on Sea Floor - VOA

Yes it has. A horrible accident happened. It took some time, but they fixed it and now its time to clean up and pay the bill. -
Because Billy is a real guy. Because the Pawn Shop really exists. You know, I've been to Wisteria Lane...the popular street from the ultra-popular show "Desperate Housewives." I've been on that street, seen the houses, the manufactured front yards, even a couple of the cars in the driveway. Its all fake. Its all on the back production lot at Univesal Studios. Its kool to see...but its fake. Everything they say and do is 100% planned and rehearsed, re-written, rehearsed again. Then performed in front of a live audience. I can tell you firsthand what goes on behind the scenes if the live audience doesn't like a scene, or laugh at a joke...its not pretty. Then re-written again just to make it perfect for their cookie-cutter audience. Unscripted TV is so much different. Sure, they don't show you everything. If your some hippy pawning a guitar for 50 bucks your not gonna make the show (unless it turns out to be Elvis' Guitar.) If one of the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" has an uneventful dinner...it'll be edited out. But...you can go to the Kardahians boutique. You can go to the Gold & Silver Pawn shop. You can see the events of Big Brother play out 24-7 live. Its unscripted. Unpredicatable. You don't rehearse and re-write a guy falling off a boat during a storm. You only get one-shot to catch real, genuine reations. And sometimes its just fun to watch outrageous people, do outrageous things, for no reason whatsoever. Its the same reason that shows like "The First 48" or even "Cops" is better than CSI, or any other run-of-the-mill scripted TV show.

Their work is preliminary, hasn't been reviewed by other scientists, requires more tests to confirm it is BP's oil they found, and is based on a 10-day research cruise that ended late Monday night. Scientists who were not involved said they were uncomfortable drawing conclusions based on such a brief look. source -

Oh geesh...when are people gonna stop falling for this garbage?? The wacko's couldn't manufacture their wildlife apocalypse...they couldn't destroy the shrimpers...they showed the same bird covered in oil from 40 different angles (I'd bet money they put the oil on the bird themselves). None of their wild assertions did anything except hurt the economy by scaring people away from the Gulf during the summer. Now they have the credibility to start fear-mongering about something else now that the clean-up is underway?? They don't have ANY proof that the oil on the sea floor is from BP...since the Gulf of Mexico has more oil on its seabed from natural seepage than any other place in the world! Quit listening to these wackos...please! -
You guys do realize that cable stations are actually in business to make money, right??? The fact is that the History Channel is making more money than ever and enjoying unheard of success (inspite of almost everyone here claiming thats the only channel they watch) because they are showing quirky Las Vegas pawnbrokers and quirkier junkyard scavengers. Those shows bring in the dough. The artsy and once snooty A&E is also gaining its best ratings ever because of shows like Intervention, Hoarders, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, and Billy the Exterminator. People like unscripted TV. I think the roots of these types of shows were The Gong Show; An American family; The Newlywed Game....all from the 70's. Shows in which you never really knew what would be said or done at any given time. The shows we watch today are pretty much the same thing, only with smarter casting and higher production value. I for one am a huge Big Brother fan. I watch it when its on TV. I subscribe to the online content so that I have 24-7 access to the cameras in the house. And I often watch (or at least DVR) the latenight portions of live broadcast on Showtime. And I can always be found in Big Brother chat rooms on CBS.com. I also watch Survivor, Solitary, and pretty much anything on TruTV and the FX Reality Channel. I am huge fan of unscripted TV. Most scripted TV shows are so cookie-cutter alike that its mind-numbingly easy to figure out the plot points within minutes of Grissom and Kathy stepping up to the CSI Crime scene...how does that show have ratings??? Thats why scripted shows like LOST was so popular for 6 season...every episode they did some stoopid ridiculous things that made no sense whatsoever and created 10 more questions about "what the heck is going on?" The show was so ridiculous and confusing it almost seemed unscripted...haha. (I like that show BTW).

His problem was being so vocal about it... I wouldn't hire a woman who had an abortion and was vocal about it. However, you can't force people to be Christian (or moral)...all you can hope to do is weed out those types of people in your life. Giving people a chance to repent, somehow just makes him look like an overly judgemental guy. I for one support him, I just think he went about it the wrong way. He should have just fired them and hired suitable replacements...nobody would have been the wiser. Now he's under attack for having standards.
-
When you played cops and robbers, did that include killing the cops (or the robbers for that matter)? Uhhhhh...yeah! Just like when I played cowboys and indians I pretended to shoot the cowboy. You seriously don't know this? Of course we didn't have cool nerf guns, super soakers, or lazer tag when I played...we used guns made out of fingers and provided our own sound effects.

I'm wondering how much experience you have in multi-player gaming in order to judge "a game like this?" I guarantee, if this game is as kool as it looks, those brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews in Afghanistan will be playing this game in Afghanistan. Soldiers gaming network Plus...you never answered the question about cops and robbers; or any other games where one side inevitably had to be the "bad guy." That is pretty much all this is about.

Like chat rooms and forums? LOL...

???? You lost me....

It should also be pointed out that the single-player campaign mode is pretty pro-american soldier...as all of EA's games are. It appears that the only time you actually might play a Taliban looking character is in multi-player mode in which you play against other people. And those characters are customizable. So, the narractive of EA's game is still decidedly pro-American...but when you have 20 people playing against each other (10 on each team) in multiplayer...its inevitable that 1 team has to be one side, and the other has to be the other side. Unless you'd be more comfortable with American soldiers killing American soldiers. As an avid multi-player participant I can tell you that multi-player is vastly different than having to play the Taliban in the game...there is no narrative...its just an avatar to distinguish the two teams. I would agree that they could have named the team something generic like "insurgents" or "terrorists" and not "taliban"...but people would still complain. As a person who has played all of EA's Medal of Honor series games...I can tell you that I cannot wait to experience MOH's signature opening Battle. Their depictions of great battles is epic and puts the player right in the middle. From D-day to Pearl harbor...and now Afghanistan...its going to be amazing. The graphics are dated (2002) but still one of the best ever opening scenes to a video game.... Delete links*

Nobody ever played cops and robbers? Seriously? I totally agree with the game developer. I guarantee our troops will play this ...GAME. Its no different than Risk, Axis and Allies...or any other game in which one side gets to be one country...and the other person(s) inevitably has to be the other. EA's wargames have NOTHING in common with Grand Theft Auto and attempting to make any comparison is based either in dishonesty or ignorance of the games themselves. If people don't like the idea of the Taliban killing American soldiers maybe they should protest the real war that Obama is playing and getting a large number of Americans actually killed. Let the free market do its job when it comes to games.

Totally agree Sis... For Yasir Qahdi to even admit that his ignorance was fueled in part by books like
-
Seriously? You must not have a positive bone in your body. If you cannot seee the positive outcome of this story then your prejudice has blinded you... Yasir Qahdi...he is known for his anti-semitic teachings and has been a vocal holocaust denier. For that man to walk away from this trip and both vocally and in written form recant his previous teachings...that is simply monumental! The man with tears in his eyes, Suhaib Webb, in the past he worked for a front group for the Muslim Brotherhood. He has praised Palestinian Jihad against Israel. He was a Hamas and Hizbollah supporter. And now he sheds tears for the injustices towards the Jews that he had never imagined...and you complain because he never led a demonstration??? This is an amazing story...but lets hope that it is not the end of it. We should be praying each and every day for our enemies that their eyes may be opened.
