  1. Shalom Candi, Thanks for sharing!! Good article!
  2. Shalom, So this is just another one of those silly OSAS agenda debates hidden in the OP? That's what this is all about. That's pretty disingenuous. For the record, OSAS does not preach continued, unrepentant sin is acceptable and anyone who says it does is misrepresenting OSAS or using a twisted version of it.
  3. Shalom Candi, Sorry, we don't NEED anyone else pointing fingers at us and calling us sinners. The Holy Spirit speaks loudly enough and His motives are pure. When someone focuses on sin, sin, sin and ignores G-d's grace and mercy, there is something wrong with their "message". I personally believe that many who claim to have a "Word" actually do not, but rather enjoy pointing fingers at other Believers. But, that's just my opinion. The point is of this thread is, G-d's Word is righteous and His Holy Spirit can lead us and correct us if we need correcting. Those on the other end of the screen cannot see the heart or see the lives of those they are accusing of sin. Those who feel they are commissioned to do the work of the Holy Spirit need to read the above Scriptures to get a balanced message.
  4. Shalom, We have some posters here who do nothing but criticize and call "SINNER" to other Believers and preach doom and gloom and preach condemnation. I wanted to post the TRUTH from Scripture that G-d's grace drowns out all those critics and accusers. AND, we need to remember that the ENEMY is the accuser of the Brethren, not Jesus and the Accuser will be thrown down! Revelation 12:10 I pray you are ENCOURAGED by these Scriptures! Romans 8 1There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life(B) has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. 31What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32) He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33Who shall bring any charge against God
  5. Shalom Bib, For me, there is no pre-set way that I witness to people. You see, I ask the Holy Spirit to lead me and what He wants one person to hear, for another He may choose a different route. There are times that I simply love people and tell them it's because Jesus loves me. I do this when I go to help feed the street people. They have heard the preachers, they know all the rhetoric, they just need to see Jesus' LOVE in action. That will touch their hearts, not words. I do let them know I am there because of Jesus and He loves them, but then I serve them food. THAT to them speaks louder than any words. When I go into places to witness, such as jails or shelters, we are the "program" and they know we are coming and that we are there to tell them about Jesus. We sing and share our testimonies, but we don't point fingers at them, only tell how we were before Jesus and then how He saved us and how we are different. When I witness to Jews, it's a whole different story. It's all about G-d and how He loves them and there is NO condemnation or criticism, but sharing G-d's love and through the OT, how He sent a Messiah that DID come, not one they are still waiting for. For my Jewish family, it's walking out love. Being bold in my love for Jesus not hiding it or watering it down, but not pointing out their sins. They KNOW their sins. They think I judge them because I am a Christian, and I surprise them when they say or do something they know is contrary to my beliefs as a Christian, yet I don't judge them, or criticize them, but love them. To the person on the street, there is no time to make a friend. I ask the Holy Spirit what this person needs to hear and then I share it. Again, not criticizing, but sharing Scripture. I believe we need to love and show Jesus' love and be open to the leading of the Holy Spirit in how best to share that with people, for they are not all the same. As for me, well, I'm an odd Jewish bird. G-d worked on me for many years and my testimony is long, but the FIRST time this Jew ever heard that Jesus was the Son of G-d and that He died for the sins of the world came from a Rick Opera that Christians were boycotting and calling blasphemous. It is "Jesus Christ:Superstar" and G-d used it to open my heart to Jesus.
  6. Shalom Bib, Oh my, what a PRECIOUS, moving, testimony! Thank you, thank you for sharing this with us. You've written it in a way that I could almost feel the emotion of your dad. And I pray the L-rd to comfort you when you miss your sweet father and his dear brother in the L-rd, your pastor, both of whom you loved. May G-d's peace and comfort surround you. I thank G-d for your pastor who shared himself with your father and allowed himself to be the conduit of the Holy Spirit unto salvation for your dad. G-d bless you!
  7. Nobody is arguing that, but it keeps getting brought up. Shalom CC, YOU are arguing against that. It is only the ones who CONTINUALLY CHOOSE to sin, not those who sin that are being judged. However, you keep saying the one can lose their salvation by not doing good works and that is not what the Scriptures say. James does not say that we need works to maintain our salvation.
  8. 2 John 1:9 English Standard Version (ESV) 9Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ,(A) does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. Cross references: 1. 2 John 1:9 : 1 John 2:23 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 9Anyone who goes too far and (A)does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. Cross references: 1. 2 John 1:9 : John 7:16; 8:31; 1 John 2:23 King James Version (KJV) 9Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. New International Version (NIV) 9Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. Young's Literal Translation (YLT) 9every one who is transgressing, and is not remaining in the teaching of the Christ, hath not God; he who is remaining in the teaching of the Christ, this one hath both the Father and the Son; The ONLY one that says "doctrine" is the KJV.
  9. Okay, let's look at what you just said here and I will copy what you posted - Now, if this is saying that that when we keep his commandments we are "abiding" in him then when we read this - 2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. Shalom CC, Nope. 2 John 1:9 9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. The doctrine or teaching is verse 2 of 1 John 3, which is: And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. (1 John 3:23 NKJV) Now he who keeps His commandments (SEE ABOVE VERSE!!!) abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. (1 John 3:24 NKJV) BTW, it's the ones who CONTINUALLY choose to sin. Not everyone who sins.
  10. Shalom CC, The Scriptures state we cannot LOSE our salvation by lack of works. The Scriptures state that we are neither saved by works or "stay" saved by works. James does not state that we will lose our salvation if we sin. We have assurance that if we abide in Jesus (heart to heart, not works) we will go to Heaven. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one
  11. Shalom, AMEN!! And we have several threads trying to do the same thing!
  12. ROMANS 5 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
  13. Shalom, Then you don't believe the REST of His Word, only the parts you choose? You are arguing with Scripture, but you can't argue with THIS: ROMANS 5 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
  14. Shalom On, Let's get to the meat of this.. Do YOU ever sin? Since you do (we all do) are you going to Hell because of your sins? The problem is not imperfection it is deliberate, willful, habitual, unrepentant sin from those that claim Christ as saviour. And the teaching that that is O.K. that and all is forgiven. Shalom On, Answer the questions please, don't dance around them.
  15. Shalom On, Let's get to the meat of this.. Do YOU ever sin? Since you do (we all do) are you going to Hell because of your sins?
  16. Shalom ON, I am a FORGIVEN sinner. My sins are forgiven because I am born-again into Jesus by grace according to faith. You can argue that with G-d because your opinions don't carry any weight. Romans 5: 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.
  17. Shalom Meagan and 4Given1, It seems you simply misread the text. It does NOT say Martin Luther wrote the song, but that it was a MISCONCEPTION. It says from above:
  18. Shalom, Here's mine from this site which gives the history of the carol. http://www.carols.org.uk/o_come_come_emmanuel.htm O Come O Come Emmanuel ! The favourite O Come, O Come Emmanuel carol was originally written in Latin text in the 12th Century. The author of the words and composer to the music of O Come, O Come Emmanuel is unknown. It is , however believed that the melody was of French origin and added to the text a hundred years later. The Latin was translated into English by John Mason Neale in 1851. O come, O come, Emmanuel And ransom captive Israel That mourns in lonely exile here Until the Son of God appear Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free Thine own from Satan's tyranny From depths of Hell Thy people save And give them victory o'er the grave Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer Our spirits by Thine advent here Disperse the gloomy clouds of night And death's dark shadows put to flight. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Key of David, come, And open wide our heavenly home; Make safe the way that leads on high, And close the path to misery. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, O come, Thou Lord of might, Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height, In ancient times did'st give the Law, In cloud, and majesty and awe. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel.
  19. Shalom ON, No one is forgetting about the nature of G-d and that He judges us. However, WE AS HIS CHILDREN do not receive His wrath, that is for UNbelievers, not born-again Christians, abiding in Him. The wrath of G-d is reserved for UNBelievers, the Believers will have eternal life: Romans 5: 9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. John 3 36He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. Romans 5 1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5and hope does not put us to shame, because God
  20. Shalom patricia, Perhaps you might get more people reading if this were in the doctrinal area? This is SUCH a good topic!
  21. Shalom Patricia, This is an AWESOME topic. You see, you have identified things in ALL of us that we tend to hide away because they are uncomfortable. First, we all have pride. We want to be the ones blessing people. We want to give and pour out blessings, prayers, help. That is a good desire, but it can also feed pride. We are so GOOD, doing good works, that surely we are righteous in G-d's eyes. It is man's nature to try to please G-d by works. Now, don't get me wrong, we are CALLED to help people, pray for people, give them money, help them with laundry or shopping or whatever, in the name of the L-rd. This is GOOD and it is what Jesus wants us to do, even unto the least of our brethren: HOWEVER, as we do good works, sometimes we feed our pride and self-righteousness and forget that we are doing things BECAUSE of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit in us and not in our own goodness (which we have none.) And then dear Patricia, you hit the nail on the head when you reminded us that we ROB someone of a blessing when we allow ourselves to refuse to be helped by others who are walking out Jesus' commandments. Sometimes, we ROB someone of a blessing and put up a wall because of our pride. When we allow ourselves to be helped, it is a humbling and sometimes uncomfortable feeling and yet, it is what G-d desires for us. He will bring people to help us. He will use situations to humble us. We must not fight Him, but surrender to Him and what He brings, even if our flesh screams at the indignation. I say this as a cancer patient who had to be completely humbled and could nothing for myself. I won't go into the details, but it was a humbling but spiritually enriching experience. And we had one this past week in our family where we had to accept financial help from one of our kids!! Oh my!!! Yes, G-d uses others to bless us because 1) He is working in US 2) He is working in THEM We must not let our pride refuse G-d or ROB others. Good words Patricia, I am very thankful for this thread, it is something we don't see often around here.
  22. Shalom CC, Not in THIS thread. Please, don't bring in arguments that have not been raised. In fact, I, as the OP, refuted that false allegation when you threw it, so please drop it, as it does not relate to this topic. CC, you don't seem to understand. Ephesians 2 states that it is a GIFT of G-D, NOT OF WORKS. And that our salvation is Dependant upon our faith, not our works. James is NOT talking about salvation, he is talking about effectiveness. Please, read the wonderful study that Bib has shared. The answer is, James is not speaking of salvation by works, but the effectiveness of our works on this Earth. We are saved by FAITH, according to G-d's grace, it is a gift, not a result of works. That is the Biblical truth you keep ignoring.
  23. Shalom Glory, HA!! Actually, I turned 51 a few days ago and I love being this age!! Even with my gray hair and wrinkles! Every day G-d gives me is a gift and I rejoice on my birthdays and hope and pray to have many more! Oh, I'm sure you're still attractive, Vickilynn. Attractiveness shines out from the soul and is impervious to time. Shalom Glory, OH MY GOODNESS! You made me cry! What a beautiful sentiment. Thank you dear, you've blessed me!! (And very timely to read this morning since I had my picture taken for my new book and I sure seem A LOT older than the last picture for my last book! I was saying "WOW, I really look old!" and then I read your words. G-d bless you for your sweet response. It made my year!!
