  1. The article stated that fewer Doctors are willing to perform abortions. Is it possible that fewer ( non- rural ) women are seeking abortions, and that this new scheme is a way for Planned Parenthood to remain a viable business?? MG you are totally correct...this has nothing at all to do with the health and welfare of women...it's all about money.
  2. another explanation from the american tract bible society: ANOINTING Was a custom in general use among the Hebrews and other oriental nations, and its omission was one sign of mourning, Isa 61:3. They anointed the hair, head, and beard, Ps 104:15; 133:2. At their feasts and rejoicings they anointed the whole body; but sometimes only the head or feet, Ps 23:5; Mt 6:17; Joh 12:3. It was a customary mark of respect to guests, /Lu 7:38,46. The use of oil upon the skin was thought to be conducive to health. Anointing was then used, and is still, medicinally, Mr 6:13; Jas 5:14; but the miraculous cures thus wrought by the apostles furnish no warrant for the ceremony just before death called "extreme unction." The anointing of dead bodies was also practiced, to preserve them from corruption, Mr 14:8; 16:1; Lu 23:56. They anointed kings and high priests at their inauguration, Ex 29:7,29; Le 4:3; Jg 9:8; 1Sa 9:16; 1Ki 19:15,15, as also the sacred vessels of the tabernacle and temple, Ex 30:26. This anointing of sacred persons and objects signified their being set apart and consecrated to the service of God; and the costly and fragrant mixture appointed for this purpose was forbidden for all others, Ex 30:23-33; Eze 23:41. The custom of anointing with oil or perfume was also common among the Greeks and Romans; especially the anointing of guests at feasts and other entertainments Aaarrgh!!! Hunter please bear with me. I don't mean to be dense. The scripture is saying that the Lord is anointing our head with oil... am I reading that right? Okay... if I am... what is the meaning of the Lord anointing us? Is God consecrating us then? Am I making this harder than it needs be.... ok calm down and lets take this one step at a time......the whole custom of anointing with oil signified that the guest was special to the person hosting the feast...so......yes the Lord is anointing our heads with oil, because it signifies that we are special to Him. The light bulb is starting to brighten. So verse 5 is saying... The Lord prepared a feast for us in the presence of our enemies to show His love and then anoints us to consecrate His love. Verse 2 is about comfort and a place of beauty and rest. Do I have this right? yes

  6. This would be my understanding.... Psalm 23:2......The Shepard leads his flock to places which are good for them, lush pasture for good feeding, still waters for drink and cleansing. To feed on and drink that which is good, namely , God's Word. Psalm 23:5...in Hebrew culture distinguished guest would be anointed with oil at a banquet or feast...so you are the distinguished guest......in the face of your enemies, you partake of the Lord's feast without fear or interference from the enemy...He demonstrates His power and protection over you...as long as you sit at His table, the enemy cannot touch you, and His bounty exceeds your needs.
  7. Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. We are called to a higher standard. Not to be boastful or judgmental, but an example, a light, a path to follow and always in love for His Glory.

  10. This little guy is absolutely amazing........ http://www.wimp.com/deadliestanimal/
  11. The short answer is that eyes are advantageous and you can get eyes through mutation and natural selection. If you can see when a predator comes your way, for example, you have a better chance of not becoming someone else's dinner. The most primitive eye on probably was only able to detect the presence of light and possibly the wavelength/color - jellyfish for example can only do pretty much that. They use that information to decide whether or not to become docile or energetic as different light has a profound impact on their enviornment. Actually the eye evolved independently multiple times; not all eyes are decedent from some ancestral eye. The first 'eyes' would have been eye spots on single-celled organisms. For multi-celled, it probably started with a patch of epithelial cells becoming light sensitive. From what I remember it is fairly easy to do genetically. Then the patch of light sensitive cells started to indent forming a depression which allowed for more accurate discernment of where the light was coming from and so on. I don't know the time-line, but I don't see how they are dependent on each other. They probably evolved independently of each other, and I wouldn't be surprised if they evolved in the same time period - actually I know with our sense of smell and sight, it is evolving all the time (at least in recent past evolutionary wise). So there's probably a ton of overlap on the time scales. I was not suggesting that these different functions were dependent on one another...however...they are all dependent on the CNS. An example question would be...what good is eyesight if you cannot tell up from down or what position your body is in relation to up and down? How would you know which way to run from a predator if you have no sense of position? I would be very interested to hear about the latest evolutionary advances in smell and eyesight. And then of course....after we exhaust these issue, there is the whole biological sonar function that some aquatic animals posses, along with eyesight and smell.....
  12. OK...so now I will ask the next question did hearing, smell, touch( pressure, pain, hot and cold) and proprioception evolve along with sight or independently before or after????
  13. Excellent question and an equally excellent answer.
  14. Could you please explain what I have placed in bold. Luke 12;39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Most people place thier trust in a man to interpret prophecy to them .They go to the church of thier choice to hear other mens interpretations of prophecies or buy books of mens interpretations of prophecies and because of this they think they know what shall take place. But now that those prophecies are taking place before thier faces they cant understand them because they have been mislead by the same men they placed thier trust in.Insted of watching what is taking place and what is biblical they look for thier interpretations to take place. The thief will come and those people wont even know what time of day it is. Well, you didn't tell me how a person will not know the end has come....thats what you said....." they will be unaware the end has come ".....how could anyone not know the end has come....when the end gets here it's going to be a pretty big deal....gonna be kinda hard to miss it. OK.You tellme .If a person is dead .How are they going to know the end has come? If Im not mistaken the scripture says the dead know nothing. Knowing nothing because your dead is quite different from what you stated.

  16. I don't know.... they say... the planet is 4 times the size of Jupiter. Jupiter is the largest planet in this solar system, it's volume being large enough to hold 1, 321 planets the size of earth. they say.....that it won't reveal itself for another 2 years....is it shy??? they also say....that NASA may have information on this planet....is NASA being stingy??? Hard to imagine something 4 times the size of Jupiter floating around out there and no one can see it.....
  17. Could you please explain what I have placed in bold.
  18. The essence of the church is the body of Christ, which are, His followers. The purpose of the church ( His followers ) is to live a life unto God and spread the gospel. I do not understand the picture......????
  19. After reading the post, these verses came to mind: Joh 20:30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: Joh 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen
  20. I really do like the old songs, but then I grew up with them. I love music, and enjoy and like allot of the newer songs, ...but.....I still cannot appreciate a worship service that sounds like a rock concert, but that's just me. I think in the end it all boils down to sincerity. In a church I used to attend was a fellow who was born with a bit of a challenge...he loves to sing...but it sounds like he is yelling the words.....no one questions his sincerity and we all just accepted his version of vocal praise. I guess the same would apply to drum beating or that very annoying guitar music as long as it was offered up with sincerity...even so....it really hurts my ears....so I'll leave it for other folks...stick with the stuff I can understand and sing along with.
  21. The catholic church has accepted large donations from known drug cartel leaders. They have even gone as far as to say that the blood money, despite being tainted, can be used by them for good. So they have no problem with criminals being a part of the church and giving money. There are even saints for the drug cartels and smugglers. Kinda like ..The Godfather Part 4..... why Am'I not surprised
  22. Well, they have allot of time on their hands now that they are not suppressing the people.
  23. Steady yourself AJ...the catholic church is getting in on the act......http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2011/02/what_would_jesus_do_local_fait.html.......There is no direct reference to the Mexican / American border in this article, but the Catholic church is calling for immigration reform...mmmm.....
