  1. It is interesting but maybe not a contradiction. You may choose A or B freely. God knows what you have done before you did it. That makes God omniscient.
  2. Agreed. When we realize that Jesus Christ is the Heir of the promises, then it all makes sense.
  3. So far I've read the first 5 pages and it makes me wonder about the new theory that Stephen Hawking proposed, that gravity created the universe. Isn't gravity a property of the universe? and if so, how could the property of a thing actually create that thing? wouldn't it be like saying that i have a sense of smell, and that sense of smell created me? or is this an off-the-wall conclusion? what do you think ?
  4. Locusts, Disease & Higher Food Prices My link Go down to 5 Oct 10
  5. A Possibilian ? That's just nutty. It's possible the sun may set today LOL
  6. Has the North American Union been formed and we were not INformed ? Hmmmm . . . . .
  7. i have looked into this issue in the past and also your comment about the different denominations. i concluded that the denominations exist to serve all the different kinds of people that make up the Body of Christ. as we are all so unique individually, it is nice to be able to worship with others of like mind. then, out of every denomination, there are those true believers who collectively make up the Body.
  8. It is cut-and-paste. He does the same thing on other sites. don't be silly; the posts are mostly scripture. i guess i've fallen for scripture, LOL. to get serious for a minute, tho, i always have taken Jesus at His Word when He said "if you love me, obey my commands". i thought all Christians took Jesus seriously. this thread has certainly show that thought to be gravely mistaken.

  10. if i meditate on God, it's the picture from the book of revelation. as far as i know, this is the only place we are given a picture of what God looks like: you remember: And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. anyway, it's the only image that i wouldn't be afraid to imagine.
  11. Whisper: You don't have to look up every reference. The references are there if you don't understand something and you want to research it a little deeper. Besides no one is forcing you to look up those references or read his post for that matter, but if you so happen to, then you have that option. He provided those references to help you understand what he was saying, if you so happen to not understand something he said. It's entirely up to him of how he wants to make his post. Figured I would clue you in. agreed. i would imagine that we all know most of these, so they serve as reminders only.
  12. Bible 2 speaks as 'one with authority'. Also, Bible2, you have given us a huge feast to dig into. I shall soon see if it is all digestible. Love to you all on this thread. Keep it comin' !
  13. If they have access to come to worthy forums then they have access to online bibles. Time yourself, for this is what I was referring to. Look at the post I referred to with over 100 references. First, time yourself while reading the post, then time yourself while doing both the reading and then looking up the references. While you are doing this, ask yourself if you would have a better understanding if the scripture was provided. Is it the point of the writer to bring understanding or to show how many verses a person to point to? Which is more important? Discuss one point at a time while quoting scripture itself if that is what it takes to bring understanding to the reader. As I stated, all I am reading is a cometary, not a piece of writing where I could gather understanding, unless the understanding I was seeking is how bible2 thinks. Bible2 puts a lot of information in to his post with bible references. It would not be ineffective for him to post each scripture but easier to post a reference and then you do your own homework as you should. If people are too lazy to look up the reference then that's their own fault, but at least he gives biblical references while others only post opinion. Ah, you call someone lazy for not taking the time, which a lot of readers probably don't have, to look up 100+ references. How sad of you to make such a judgment! If someone was reading his posts as part of a college course, then they would expect to have to do the research, but this is not a college and bible2 is not a professor passing out assignments. It is a forum where thoughts and understanding is shared. And what is wrong with backing up what you say with bible references at least he uses references while others post no references but only their opinion? Sounds much like the kettle calling the pot black scenario. You are full of verbal cut just for pointing out a better way to bring a point across. Why is that? My reasoning for pointing this out is so those who read the posts of bible2 would have a better understanding of what the post was talking about. Tell me, what is wrong with helping someone to have a better understanding? I'll ask you the same thing, which brings you more understanding? "Matthew 4:4" OR "But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"" Put yourself in the shoes of many who are here to read posts to gather understanding and don't have the time to look up 100+ bible references. Which is truly doing His work? Show me one incident where scripture was written in such a manner where the writer references bible verses and does not quote the scripture. The idea is to teach, not assign work. I have seen so many people "assigning" overwhelming work to others instead of supplying the scripture themselves. I believe it is just as easy to cut and paste Gods words as it is to cut and past teachings that lack His words. I have notices this is bible2's style on another forum also, which are exact copies of what is posted here. Rest assure that I am not speaking against what bible2 is talking about, but the style in which bible2 is discussing. i kinda like it. picture me: it's early morning, just enough light outside to read by. i am on my front porch swing with a cup of coffee, bible in one hand & a stack of paper in the other, but boy is my printer getting a workout LOL
  14. in this instance you know a lot. LOL Jesus is the Light. Jesus is every Word of the Teaching of the Scriiptures. Jesus is the sum total of the Truth.
  15. I never stated that the Holy Spirit leaves everytime a sin is committed. Here is the post I was addressing. If someone who is following the teachings of a false teacher and is considered to be sealed with the Holy Spirit, why do we spend so much time warning them about those false teachings? That doesn't make sense. What does it matter what he's doing or who he's following, he's sealed with the Holy Spirit. We can pretty much disregard all the warnings about false prophets and teachers because if we're sealed with the Holy Spirit, we're good to go. I don't understand how someone can say an individual is filled with the Holy Spirit if they are continuing a life of sin. That doesn't make sense to me. If someone rejects the truth, who can honestly say they are sealed with the Holy Spirit? Jesus said, "If the blind follow the blind, they will both fall into the ditch". Peter said there will be false prophets who will bring in destructive heresies. If someone is sealed with the Holy Spirit and chooses to accept those heresies, are they truly destructive? In Paul's letter to Timothy, he said there will those who will have a form of godliness and that we are to stay away from them. Why the warning if we are sealed with the Holy Spirit? They can't hurt us. I don't deny the seal of the Holy Spirit. The Word states it and I believe it. Another thing I believe is that seal can be broken. If that seal can't be broken, it was never there to begin with. A Kingdom divided cannot stand. i would have to agree with you. plain and simple, God is a Holy God and therefore could not reside within such a person. we read over and over again how God left certain places when the people would not conform themselves to His requirements and how only Moses could go up on the mountain and only the priests of Levi could go into the Holy Place. these are only a very few of the many examples that God has provided for our learning.
  16. would you agree that we do not 'interpret' the scripture; we study it to find out what it means and how it is significant. no individual person decides for him or herself what it means. we do what the new testament converts did, 'search the scriptures daily'. the scriptures being the old testament. i like that you mentioned how many statements are made in the new testament that assume the reader understands what it's talking about. in that day they did; unfortunately, we have lost a lot of that understanding but i do see that situation changing.
  17. that is ridiculous. ii have not attacked you. and i never would. I didn't say you attacked me. I stated that what I said above was probably going to be turned around on me (as has been the case lately when it comes to the postings of the opinions of Mr. Kelley.) I admonished you over this comment: "So. you have rejected the scriptural definition that mizzdy has provided to instead choose one by some guy named jack kelly??" That was a snide comment and totally inappropriate as that is not what LittleLamb said nor insinuated/intimated. sometimes i'm not as clear as i'd like to be. i have said that a scriptural definition was provided. this is much different than someone's private interpretation. scripture is not subject to anyone's private interpretation. 2 Peter 1:20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation OK. How do you explain the different views on baptism, the rapture and how one is saved? Scriptures are presented justifying each position. How do we decide which position is right? Myself, I form my positions based on my reading and understanding of different versions of the Word; by what I am taught by the teacher that I sit under, and other teachers that I follow in the media. My positions are based on 40 years of learning (with some time being backslid). I trust that what I know is the Truth comes from the Holy Spirit, who lives within me. OneLight, I understand completely what you are saying. I just don't feel it necessary to repost Scriptures that the author has quoted when I agree with their positions. I generally don't say whether I agree or disagree with the author of the article, I post the article for the edification of those who appreciate what the author has to say, as information for those who are in the process of forming their position on the subject, and to stimulate those who disagree with the article to state their disagreement with the article (which has now begun to focus on Mr. Kelley.) The disagreement should be with the article and the author's use of Scripture and not with the poster. If those who disagree with the article are not satisfied with refuting the article, then that is their problem and they should talk directly with the author. I always post the link. As an added note, the information contained in the articles that I post are in the mainstream of the Christian faith. They may be on controversial topics as some may disagree with the premise, but they are still legitimate articles worthy to be posted on this site. how do i explain the different views? the folly of private interpretation. we must study deeper into the scriptures and they will tell us everything we need to know. when we still have questions, it just means that the Holy Spirit has not yet revealed everything to us. He is the Spirit of Truth, not of error or confusion. There are many reasons why the Holy Spirit may not yet deem us ready to know, but when we know, it will be without a shadow of a doubt. Thus, different views are the result of many running ahead (to and fro) without guidance. seeking knowledge (but never coming to a revelation). ohh, getting too wordy ! just deleted a whole paragraph so i'll just say that here is where you might be missing it. We do not decide. That's the whole point in the apostles warning us against private interpretation. And yet I can say that it is you who suffers from private interpretation, from running to and fro without guidance, so I'll could just say that here is where YOU might be missing it. Don't judge, as you will be judged! edit: By your logic, fully half of Christiandom who don't believe that baptism saves, the third who believe in the pre-trib rapture and the half who hold to eternal security do so because they are folly, running to and fro in confusion. What a joke. Perhaps you need to rethink your response. sorry so late, i didn't know 'til now that you had responded. please tell me what i have privately interpreted?
  18. there can be only one way, from what i see. and that is 'the sheep know my voice'. many things will be different in the last days: as the seals come off the scriptures, true believers are just gonna know. we really need to keep examining ourselves, making sure that we are indeed in Christ and following Him. being sure that we are 'studying to show ourselves approved' and to becoming mature in Christ, as the apostle Paul has exhorted us to do. as we are led deeper into the scriptures, i believe we will come to know God so well, that there will be no possibility of our being deceived.
  19. this is one issue that i am very conflicted about. on the one hand, i want to fight. i want christianity to defeat islam. i want to hold protest rallies, burn books, publish comics making fun of muhommad, (or however it's spelled) and make laughingstocks of stephen hawking and christopher hitchens while i'm at it. ahhh, what would Jesus do ? well, He might get in a rage and turn over the market tables inside the temple. or He might pray for them and thereby heap burning coals of fire upon their heads. what exactly marks the difference in the way a protest is approached ? i could use some help here. from my studies, anything that undermines the reputation of God, that maligns His Holy Name, is the thing we make a violent protest against. (ideas welcome) the attack on the towers did not do that. but it's a serious issue. i have to also take into account that the pastor is led by God to do this. so who knows what may come out of it? all things work together for good to those who love the Lord ? well, long story short, it's tough to form an opinion about this, all things considered. my heart urges him on. what does this say about me? on the other hand, i wouldn't do it myself, since i don't see it as being in line with my 3rd paragraph argument. it will be interesting though to see how it all turns out.
  20. I think that we may soon witness the pouring out of these gifts upon God's people. I pray we are found ready.
  21. 1. Set apart to the service or worship of God; hallowed; sacred; reserved from profane or common use; holy vessels; a holy priesthood. "Holy rites and solemn feasts." --Milton. [1913 Webster] 2. Spiritually whole or sound; of unimpaired innocence and virtue; free from sinful affections; pure in heart; godly; pious; irreproachable; guiltless; acceptable to God. [1913 Webster] You are sacred. You are spiritually sound.
  22. i also get the feeling that guy doesn't mean a thing he is saying. there are lots of mixed messages in there.
  23. could be 1260 days, BUT each day is shorter, the world spinning just slightly faster. not out of the realm of possibility.
  24. Isaiah 52:14 (New King James Version) 14 Just as many were astonished at you, So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men; Thank you OneLight ! I do know my bible but often not chapter & verse right when i need it but i knew that someone would ! Very cool to add isaiah 53. so beautiful. edited to add: i wonder, is the scripture referring to Jesus after the crucifixion? i didn't think so, but one never hears this fact talked about. maybe a topic for another time.
  25. Isaiah 52:14 (New King James Version) 14 Just as many were astonished at you, So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men; Isaiah 53 1 Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. 3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. 9 And they made His grave with the wicked
