  1. Thank you for your responses. Please continue to post them. i'm just concred why books are left out of the bible. My friend wonders if there i a reason why the bible wasn't put together the way it is now. Until everyone who wrote the books was out of the picture.
  2. Why are books quoted in the bible, that are not in the bible. In the new tetement, as well as the old testement, there are quotes, that are not from biblical books. example: Jude 14 quotes from the book of Enoch. The book of Enoch is not in the bible. Now one of my friends thinks that in his book, Enoch exposed or revealed something that the people who put the bible together, did not want the public to know. So it was rejected. This is weighing on my brain so I'm just looking for clarifaction.
  3. I don't think that depression is a sin, but the result of constant sin. Aslo many people have ilnesses where the only medicene has side effects including depression. But depression can teach you a very important lesson. Lean on the Lord for he is always at your side.
  4. The reasons Mormons pratice this goes along with their belief in three seperate kindoms of heaven. They belive that if they preform baptizmes for the dead, than that person's sprit can enter the highest kingdom. But the scripture says otherwise.
  5. The bible say's that God speaks to us through dreams, and he can even misister to us that way. However, Satan can give you dreams too, so be aware.
  6. Well Mecaj, personally I wouldn't distance myself. Jesus instructs us to love others in the same way that he does. Which means we love with no regard to circumstance. I don't think many people can accomplish that task. But , if God constantly tries to woo unbelivers back to him, why shouldn't we do the same?
  7. Hate and dislike are actually very diffrent. For example if you dislike someone, that just means that you perfer not to be around them. Dislike is basically saying that you and someone else just approach life diffrently but that all OK. Hate on the other hand is where you dispise a person inside and out. If you hate someone, you would probably want nothing more than to hurt them bad. A lot of times hate goes beyond feelings, and people actually act on their violent urges. Hence, that is the reason that Jesus warns us about it in the bible. It can destroy you similar to acohol.
  8. Well pizza, I have a few comments. First I don't think that many birth control methods are wrong, for example: A man and his wife have been married for 5 years, they show their love for each other very often. However, they are not mentally ready, or finacially ready for a child. So the man uses a condom, and his wife takes the pill. This way they can express their love & attraction for each other, without throwing their life into turmoil.
  9. Thanks Eddie, I had never thoguht of it that way. You cleared up the confusion that I had. I was wondering if you think that someone can get into heaven without repentance. Very recently, the Lord called someone close to me home after a eight month struggle with cancer. I know she belived in God and Jesus, she told me she had accepted Christ as her Lord and savior. However, I never saw repentance. I think the faith she had was all she had. If I read the scriptures right, her acceptance of Jesus should have saved her soul. I would like to know what you all think.
  10. When I hear you guys talking about repentance is nessacary for salvation, I'm confused. I know that by grace we are saved, not of works. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation. When you say that to recive salvation, we must repent, it sounds like you're saying we have to earn it. I was taught that " Salvation is a gift, you cannot earn it." If you must repent, then why did Jesus say what he did to the theif on the cross? That guy didn't have time to repent.
  11. Has anyone ever wondred if they would be Chritians if you were subject to the same brutal persecution that the Romans used against the first followers of Jesus? Over in the middle east people are. You should conisder your feelings of your faith if it could get you thrown in jail or even excecuted.
  12. We are not punished for anyone's sins execpt our own. We have very little if any control over what our parents do. The bible also says that every man/ woman is accountable for their own actions. I can't recall the scripture that well, but even if we aren't punished for our parents sins, we still need to ask for forgivness. "There is noe righteous not even one...All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3: 10,23
  13. Yeah, that's one of the many awesome things about God. He's universial. He can be related to in so many diffrent ways. It's nice to know that even if some of the thinking methods are strange, they still prompt people to have a relationship with the lord. In my mind, that a win no matter how you slice it.
  14. Good points Luke, but still I think it's best to refer to God as our father. Because that is the way the bible describes him hundreds of times. Besides, if he created all of us, how can we not be in a sense, his children?
  15. Every Church I remember being to has had more than one pastor. Sure they have the senior pastors who run the church. But in almost every church you find today you have pastors, youth pastors, senior pastors, and childrens ministries. Which are usually led by yet another pastor.
