I received a PM today from someone who thought I didn't like them, plus they thought a few other things about me... It saddens me because evidently that must be the way I come across to a lot of folks. I am sorry to anyone who has been hurt by something they didn't understand about me.. or something I may have even said, unintentionally that hurt their feelings! To the person who pm'ed me today.... I am glad you wrote and told me. I care about you, love you and have a lot of respect for you. You are one of the most humble, loving persons I know. WIP... what are you trying to accomplish? My posts were only my reasons for not honoring Halloween. I was in no way trying to debate anyone. Nor, did I seek out any particular individual in this thread to attack them. If defending my reasons for the answers I gave back to Tess...offend you, then I am lost! WIP... Artslady ... I don't really relish answering the door with answer like that either. Certainly a child wouldn't understand. But if an accompanying adult asked me why, I'd be truthful! Anyhow, most of the time when porch lights are left off it is a signal to the "trick or treaters" that the individual house is not giving out treats. So far, I haven't had to give a reason why--- but if asked, I would. Blessings~

My porch light is turned off. If one would happen to come to the door, I would tell them I do not honor this night with candy... or do any form of remembrance. .... I do not hide.

I personally will not celebrate Halloween. As a kid I did participate in it. I am not sure how seriously it was taken back then, as being honored for Satanism and etc. If it was, I was naive and participated in it for the fun of dressing up and getting sacks full of free candy. In the community I moved from, 3 yrs ago, was a large population of Wiccans. They had their get togethers in our public park every year on Halloween night. The things that went on before and after... were somewhat sickening. Also, there appeared to be more animal mutilations going on before and during Halloween itself. Horses with their ears and private parts removed.... same with some cattle and even dogs and cats. Whether it's was connected to the Wiccans is debatable, but nonetheless of cultic origin..... all around Halloween! For the above mentioned things....is why I choose not to be a part of Halloween celebrations--- because it is not a fun time for dressings up and getting candy, but a time of celebration, honoring evil things I am against. Yesterday, a 45 year old man (from my area) was arrested by local authorities for imprisoning, molesting, and sodomizing a 14 year old girl whom he had met in a chat room on the internet. The suspect was a frequent visitor to the chat room the girl used, and was known as one of the more "popular" chatters. Having seen the man many times (in the chat room), the girl felt safe enough to confide in him about problems she was having with her parents. marriedtomymaker: I used to smoke.... in fact, not all that long ago. I once asked my pastor if smoking would send me to hell. He replied: "No, you'll just smell like you've been there!" (This conversation really took place.) All funnin' aside.... I'm sure you know all the hazards of smoking! For the sin part, only have this to say about it ... Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and we are expected to keep it holy (for he is Holy). And for those who seeking Christ..... seeing you smoke, could be a poor witness. Your brothers and sisters in Christ know your Fruits and so does the Father, but new comers may doubt your sincerity. Pray about it and ask the Lord to give you the will to stop.
