Because we still can

August 18, a man stands in a public assembly with an automatic weapon hanging over his shoulder, the reporter next to him has a hand gun on his hip. ...people are proclaiming their pride at having this liberty for all the world to see.

August 19, a 12 year old boy shots and kills a 24 year old woman sitting in her car...

Does this have any bearing on the gun issue? Is anyone going to tell him he did not have the right to carry a gun?

Where would the 12 year old have gotten a gun? The law doesn't allow the sale of firearms to children so there is no reasonable "right" granted. Why do you presume that would have any bearing whatsoever on law-abiding legal citizens since it is a GUARANTEED RIGHT in our Constitution?

If you will notice, the only people harming people with guns are doing it illegally. When one disobeys the law, they are losing their right to bear arms.

Example: a drunk driver can only drive illegally since driving drunk is illegal. When they harm someone, is the problem with the car or the disobedient person behind the wheel? Shall we outlaw cars since bad people sometimes drive them and harm others? Did you know that cars kill more than guns do? Shall we outlaw cars?

Do you think criminals stop carrying guns in places where they are illegal? Or do they use that law to exploit the unarmed citizens? Surely you know the answer to that one...

When my sister in law was kidnapped at gun point (and later shot twice in the head) it was by someone who had a gun he should not have legally had. That criminal had no legal or constitutional right to bear the gun he used in his act of violence against my sister in law.

And before anyone pipes up, if she had a gun, it is doubtful it would have made a difference under the circumstances of what happened. She would not have had a chance to use it.
