Bible - Can we trust it?

The Bible's New Testament is compiled of around 30 'books'.

There are over 24,000 'books' of scripture.

So can someone please tell me why we don't take into account the remaining scriptures? All scripture is God-breathed, right?

Peace,

~KB

KB? What are you talking about?

The New Testament has 27 books. The typical Old Testament has 39. The Roman Church counts a few more books as genuinely 'inspired' but for most of Church history they were never considered inspired by anybody.

Well 27 plus 39 equal 66. Where do you come up with this "24,000 books?"

Norman! Coordinate. Illogical, Illogical, Norman, Coordinate!

KB, are you counting religious writings outside of the Bible?

There are many reasons wh ythe accepted canon is the accepted canon. To adequately respond to your question, however, requires further elaboration on your part. What books are you refering to?

Peace all,

There are many many many 'books' of Scripture that are not in today's Bible... such as:

the Apocalyptic books,

Gospel of Barnabas,

Gospel of Thomas,

The Book of the Wars of the Lord [Numbers 21:14],

The Book of Jasher [Joshua 10:13],

The Books of Samuel the Seer, Gad the Seer, and Nathan the Prophet [1 Chronicles 29:29], etc.

So why are these books not in the Bible today? They seem pretty important, as some are used in reference.

Peace,

~KB

perhaps because their authenticity has never been verified.

your origional question... the Bible, can we trust it?

i'll counter that with my own question. the Bible... can we trust anything else?

Yes, the authenticity is questionable on these books. Also the gnostic teachings were prevelent back then and was a form of modernism and comprimise that had to be eliminated.

I know the Gospel of Thomas was estimated to be written much later than the exceptable standard, had questionable authorship, and contained gnostic teaching.

Where else have you heard about GOD and CHRIST?

If you think you can't: you better find out how you can.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT.
