The Chattanooga TV news last evening was proud to mention that a local Baptist church held a Kwanzaa service. How tolerant. (Gag, wretch) I'm willing to bet that if that same Baptist church was out witnessing for the Lord in their neighborhood, we'd have never heard a thing about it.

And many, many churches are also ordaining open homosexuals, preaching the feel good/prosperity/all roads lead to heaven gospel, inviting speakers from other religions to the pulpits, allowing those into the church who are living in open unrepentant sin, accepting the "right" of women to have abortions, rejecting the reality of a hell, etc., etc.

"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." 2 Timothy 4:3

I don't think it's a bad thing that they had a Kwanzaa service....if it was in addition to a regular service. Kwanzaa is a traditional African celebration, not a religious event. It's like we celebrate the 4th of July or Veteran's day in addition to Christmas and Easter. Actually though, few African-Americans celebrate Kwanzaa.

Actually, Kwanzaa is not a traditional African celebration. It was invented in the 1980's in the USA.

Well, you're right....I didn't realize it was actually an African AMERICAN holiday but it appears it is. It's not a religious holiday though. See here:

The guy who founded it was a Black Nationalist Leader in the same mold as the infamous Rev. Wright.

Do some honest research on Ron Karenga. :noidea:

It's not really important who founded this holiday....it's only important that it's not a religious holiday and, thus, is not in competition with Christmas.

It has a whole lot to do with who founded it.

Christmas honors the birth of the Messiah. Hannukah honors the Lord of the Temple and the miracle of the Oil. The very God of the Bible is celebrated.

Kwanzaa was created by a Black Nationalist/Socialist Leader who was a craven criminal and race seperationist. It lifts up man and his community celebrating this pagan secular holiday has more to do with Socialism and Secularism than Pan African paganism.

Either way, what you are saying is that we should celebrate May Day because it's a good idea whether it was Stalin's communistic utopia ideals that founded it or not.

Should we lift up man and his community in Church? Or should we celebrate the Kingdom of our Lord and Worship God Himself?

Uh...when did I say we should celebrate Kwanzaa? Actually....I didn't. My only point is that it's not a religious holiday. If this church wants to have a Kwanzaa observation..so what? That's their choice; we can't just arbitrarily start telling people what they can celebrate. I've never known anyone who observed Kwanzaa, now that I think about it. This so called holiday just isn't important...nor is the person who invented it. I'm more interested in the observance of Christmas and Easter and HOW those holidays are observed.

The fact that it has absolutely nothing to do with Christ or His birth is one more reason the Church should NOT be celebrating it. It's just more Magogism taking away from the truth of the Gospel.
