Q. John 6:44 says, "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." Are there people who are eternally lost because the Father has not drawn them to himself?

A. Romans 8:29-30 explains how the process works.

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

Knowing the end from the beginning, God knew the name of everyone who would accept the pardon He would offer for their sins before the first man was created. (He foreknew.) He made a reservation for each one of them in His Kingdom. (He predestined.) At some point in their lives He calls them and He keeps calling until they respond. (He called.) When they respond, and they all do, He applies His blood as payment in full for their sins rendering them clean. ( He Justified.) At the Rapture / Resurrection He will give them glorified bodies to dwell in His presence for eternity. (He Glorified.)

In John 6:44, Jesus was referring to the fact that the Father only calls those He already knows will come. No one else. We know this because earlier Jesus had said that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) From this and other passages, it's clear that we decide whether or not God will draw us to Him. Everyone who asks, receives (Matt. 7:7) Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13) He doesn't call any who won't come (John 6:37) and He doesn't lose any who have come (John 6:39).

How would you explain all the different people groups, around the world, who until recent times never heard the gospel.. The millions who live and die never having heard about the saviour? ;)

Of course God doesn't reject any that call on Him either, so it is a perplexing scenario.

Does this mean that there are some born who will never have a chance at redemption because the script is already written?

What if one of the un-elect said Jesus I believe In you?

Do you understand this scripture?

Romans 2:9-16 (New American Standard Bible)

There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God. For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law; for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified. For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.

This scripture is telling us that those who are without the law (Gentiles) are a law onto themselves by their conscience and thoughts, which God will judge. Their conscience and thoughts will either accuse them or defend them. God being a just God will know if they are following what they have witnessed in His creation about Him, or if they are not. Those who are will be defended by their law, those who are not will be condemned by their law, but they will be judged by this law.
