These folks were not Conservatives in any sense of the word. They were a far cry more to the right of the current Socialist/Nationalism though. :emot-pray:

Yep, I understand that. :whistling: However, George W. Bush was no Conservative. :24:

Of course GW Bush was a conservative. Just because he wasn't an extremist like some wish he was, doesn't mean he wasn't a good conservative President that upheld good conservative values. I also respect his wife, Laura Bush, for understanding that she wasn't an elected official and didn't use her position as GW's wife to further her own opinions on social issues, and undermine his authority.

A 1 trillion dollar Federal Bailout of the economy is not a Conservative position. Neither is a whole host and slew of positions and Laws that were passed during his Administration, like the Medicare Prescription Drug plan he sucessfully passed in his first term. :whistling:

He was a not a Conservative. He was in fact very Progressive. None the less, he was a far cry better than the Neo-Socialist/Fascist policies currently being promoted by the Officials running the Federal Government. :24:

Peace,

Dave

Like I said...he wasn't extreme conservative. But just because he did some things that were not hardcore conservative (i.e. spending) doesn't make him progressive or liberal. That would be like saying Obama is not a liberal because he allowed off-shore drilling and continues the war in Afghanistan. Bush has a long line and history of core conservative values that he brought to the White House, and he repeatedly acted on those principles...the fact that he made a couple of decisions that were outside of the conservative box shouldn't undermine his entire reputation as a good conservative President.

I'm glad we both agree that Bush was a far cry better than what we have now... :whistling:

The current President is more liberal than GWB but I really am not seeing the huge differences between the two men. 'R vs D' does not a difference make. I didn't see huge differences between Obama and McCain either. If not for Palin on the ticket....I would have voted for myself. :noidea:
