See, the problem with the OSNAS (Once Saved Not Always Saved)

I don't subscribe to that theology. I don't believe someone can be saved and unsaved repeatedly. It doesn't make sense and it cheatens the Word.

I am moving more and more into the Calvanism camp. I don't believe in OSAS as most Baptist preach, but I can see a Biblical case for being chosen by God to be saved or lost.

I can see that, but I have to ask, would one know they are chosen prior to coming face to face with the Lord?

I don't think they would.

They wouldn't.

So how do you have any assurance of salvation?

I do not think He can lose us, or that we can be snatched out of His hand. But I do believe we can chose to harden our hearts and walk away and depart from the faith which saves us.

Do you think someone can be deceived into thinking they are walking in faith when they are not?

I don't think anyone can know for sure......until the end.

But that's just me.

Yes absolutely.

One must continue to trust in Christ while obeying his Word. If we mess up, we need to immediately confess our sins.

Agreed.

Don't know what scriptures ya'll are reading . . .

Try these . . .

1Jo 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but
we know
that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

1Jo 3:14
We know
that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

1Jo 3:19 And
hereby we know
that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

1Jo 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And
hereby we know
that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

1Jo 4:4
Ye are of God
, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

1Jo 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and
every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

1Jo 5:2 By this
we know
that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

1Jo 5:15 And if
we know
that he hear us, whatsoever we ask,
we know
that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

1Jo 5:18 `
We know
that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

1Jo 5:19 And
we know that we are of God
, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

1Jo 5:20
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Ac 17:31 Because He hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom He hath ordained; whereof
He hath given assurance unto all men
, in that He hath raised him from the dead.

Col 2:2
That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ
;

Heb 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in
full assurance of faith
, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Matthew 7:21-23

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; be he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I guarantee you that there will be a large number of people that believe they are saved because they called out to the Lord one day, and that believe they are eternally secure in their salvation that will be in this number Jesus spoke of. The Bible says all judgement has been left to Christ so we will honor him. We can go around claiming we know beyond a doubt we are saved and eternally secure, but ultimately, it will be up to Christ.

So . . . I shouldn't believe what Apostle John says?

It wasn't God speaking through him to us again there?

See . . . I'm looking at what scriptures says "hereby we know" . . .

I know there are goats and tares . . .

How can you be sure you aren't a goat or a tare? Notice what the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:27

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection; lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Read my first post again . . .
