I used to think socialism could be a good thing if only applied properly. Gingerly even. Recently I've looked at it from the perspective of a believer, and it seems that socialist countries haughtily disdain faith, religion and anything spiritual beyond cold philisophical discussion(which gets us nowhere in the Lord's eyes I'm sure). It's ironic that this would be the case, since as believers we seek a spiritual unity with Christ, who in turn asks us to use all that we have to help our fellow man. Some of the socialist concepts almost mirror Christ's kindness without giving any glory, or honor, to Him. It's unsettling to observe the 'WE can do it' attitude that excludes our greatest benefactor yet somehow seems to thrive in these times.

You've hit on the main problem with socialism, Matt. It's all about man and, as a mind set, denies God. It's not something a true believer can embrace. Good post!

The American media constantly throws out the term 'democracy', in reference to the US and other 'friendly' nations. Many times, the term is attached to 'American' or 'our'. But is America a democracy? Has American ever been a democracy? The answer is a resounding "NO!"

When asked outside of Independence Hall, "What kind of government have you given us?" Benjamin Franklin's answer was:

A Republic, if you can keep it.

Notice. A republic. Not a democracy, a republic. America is a Constitutional Representative REPUBLIC. We are not, NOR HAVE WE EVER BEEN, a democracy. Don't be taken in by the lies.

Absolutely correct, Believer. I think that most people simply just don't know the difference.

They reason they don't know is because what I'm talking about. Kids are taught in school that we're a 'democracy'. The media, even the so-called conservative media, says we're a 'democracy'. This is called brain-washing. It was Adolph Hitler who said that if one continued to repeat a lie over and over, soon, it would be believed. Brain-washing is not always the province of torturers in black hoods. The most effective brain-washing is often done by those with the softest voices and the gentlest attitudes. Above all, TEACH YOUR CHILDREN. Get them out of the government schools and limit/supervise their TV watching. It's the children that the enemy is after most.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Are you saying that the educational system and the media are conspiring to teach that we are a democracy rather than a republic? If so, what would be the logic behind such a thing?

The logic behind such a thing would be that we all decide that it's best to go along with anything that is agreed upon by the majority.

That may be true for nonbelievers but I can't see how a Christian could buy into such a humanist philosophy.

The is no thing new, under the Sun.

The political pig-sty and the Hegelian Dialectic.

If you ever get the time & inclination, find then read the minutes from the Roman and Greek Senants.

You'll see there is no new complaint of the great unwashed and no new political dirty trick.

People have been people since day one.

Set your minds on things above,

'cause there ain't nuthin' gunna change with our establishment over-lords.

They do what they want reguardless and ALWAYS achieve thier objectives.

Next weeks news cycle they'll throw some new horror at us

we'll forget yesterday, look to tommorrow, and all the while, they continue to move their designs foward, unabated.

Always have, always will, so why trouble your minds with the smoke and mirror, dog-and-pony-show?

Epicureans, and of the Stoicks of Mars Hill, (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing)

News from inside the US bubble or the tale the historical evidance of US forgine policy?

Got a problem? Call the Medes or a sorcerer to enchant in the way of Balaam.

Not quite right. The "logic" is thatthey decide that it's best to go along with anything that is agreed upon by the minority. The majority chooses to remain silent for the most part. Especially Christians.
