I've been using Firefox forever. Well, let me just say I used Mozilla back when it was actually Netscape. LOL (I'm right there with you, Isaiah!) I went to Netscape way back in the day because it was the only browser that let me do copious amounts of customization. For that reason, I have stuck with Firefox. I'm not even sure how many add-ons I have installed, but there are a ton of them. I've tried the other browsers (Chrome, Opera, Safari, IE) but none of them gives me the flexibility and tweaks I love. There was a time a few years back that I would sometimes have issues with sites being incompatible with Firefox, but thankfully that's all but stopped. Just as a backup, I keep IE installed, though I very rarely use it. My hubby does, though. He's not as obsessed with customization and tweaks as I am, though.

The best thing to do is download and try them both. The only way to know which one you'll like best is to give them both a test run. It'll be kind of annoying to spend the time setting them both up to suit your preferences, but it's the only way to figure out which one works best for you. As others have said, ultimately I think it comes down to personal preference. ;)

Many things do boil down to personal preference OR the work you expect to do from your browser. In my case, Chrome won't do many of the tasks I do daily from Firefox, so I wouldn't be interested in it if it was twice as fast as Firefox. It's been years since I've tried a stripped-down browser simply used to view web pages. I have a list of tasks that I must do daily and only Firefox does them. I'm using Firefox 5 and consider it blazingly fast, even with all of the extras I have piled on it. If it was any faster, I wouldn't have a way to measure it - and that's with over 20 add-on extensions - many capable of doing fairly sophisticated work. There are literally thousands of add-ons for Firefox that many depend on to get their work done, so Firefox isn't just a browser. If you want to look at what all is available for Firefox, it would take hours, but take a look just for curiosity https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ .
