Rejoice: Amen and thank you! :)

Rejoice, I have a Word from the Lord to lift your spirit:

John 15:18-25

18 "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.

The reason i asked is because I know wiccans and know that halloween has no significance to them. Likewise they laugh at the Harry Potter books and say that if they're suppose to represent witchcraft then they're doing a terrible job at it.

Could it be possible that Wiccans of different "levels" or even of different covens would have different views of such things?

(I know about at least three different "levels" - or types might be a better word - from a Wiccan I had met many years ago.)

Also, if I may ask, SJ, what was your reason for objecting? Was it because of individual claims, or do you believe as a wholee this is a faulty presentation of Wicca? And if so, what would you consider a true presentation?

*******************************************************

Rejoiceevermore - I too wonder how posting those songs is a rebuttal to anything?

The reason I objected and called a bluff was due to the fact that rejoice, through using the interview and things said in the interview, was attempting to say Christians should not read harry potter or be active in halloween. I'm simply saying that no level of wiccans find halloween sacred from what I understood of it. Satanist, however (and there are two different types, those that do it out of rebellion and those who do it because they really are satanist) find every night belonging to the devil. None is more esteemed than the other. So to me, while I am against Wiccanism and Satanism and will fight to lead people out of it, and even liked and agreed with some points in the article, refuse to believe the myths about it in order to condemn my brethren who celebrate Halloween.

The article itself has some good points, however parts of it, from my understanding of Wiccans, is way off.

On top of that, I had a lot of friends that were Wiccans or into goth. I was able to witness to them and establish a good friendship with them. Unfortunately, everytime they'd come close to breaking down, some Christian would come along and judge them, saying they were Satanic and needed to turn or burn. All of this was based on Christian misunderstanding.

When someone repents it is a change of mind towards God and sin. People will go to hell unless they repent. God does not allow us to worship Him and nature as Wiccans do. There is a right way and a wrong way to tell people this, though.

(In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth 2 Tim 2:25)

Lu 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Ac 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

2Co 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation ;) not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; (Romans 2:4-9) :oww:

Regarding not telling Wiccans the truth....

If your friends house was on fire and they were inside it but didn't know, wouldn't you tell them so they could get out before it was too late?

Isn't that LOVE?

Or was there just something about how the Christians did it that was self-righteous and condemning instead of offering the "good news"?

This is just my opinion. You don't need to accept it if you dislike it. DISCLAIMER: I am not a christian.

This is incredible! I really cannot give any credence to the assumption that reading and watching Harry Potter books and movies respectively would alter anyone's notions about wiccans or satanists. This is similar to the analogy that if we read Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code, we will begin to accept the notion that Jesus and Mary Magdelene moved to the South of France and raised a family.

Please give people the benefit of using their powers of discernment of fiction. IMHO, once you remove that requirement for people to use their own powers of thinking rationally, we will have to answer a larger question, as to who will do the thinking for us? I'm not sure I will like the answer to that question.

Regards,

UndecidedFrog

Great post, Amazed.

No, Tess...not legalism.

For someone who's firmly grounded in the Word, even those must take great care from being "poluted" by the world. That's scripture.

You don't allow young children to watch "adult movies". Why not? Legalism? NO!

You make rules because you know that little children aren't mature enough to be able to make sound decisions and are easily influenced by their environment.

You wouldn't teach a 3 year old the graphic details about sexual relations. Why?

Well, the lack the cognitive development to comprehend the mechanics to begin with and the life experience and maturity to reason it's purpose. To EVERY THING there is a season and a time to EVERY purpose under heaven.

If scripture is legalism, we're in big trouble.

We need to be balanced and sane in our reasoning. I would no more subject a young person without proper grounding in the Word to occult themes than I would take a chance leaving a baby with the neighbor's pitbull....

He may be the nicest dog when his owner is around but I wouldn't chance it when he's out of sight. There's too much risk.

If YOU as a parent and a grounded Christian have prayed and sought the Lord's will on this and He gives the 'greenlight' to view the movie or read the book, by all means.

What bothers me is nobody is bothering AT ALL to avoid the name calling and just do what we know to do.....seek GOD'S WILL and not our own opinions. Everyone has an opinion but the bottom line is, "What is God's will concerning this?"

There's no argument here. If a person chooses to do as he or she pleases without putting it before the Lord Himself for direction, you're rolling dice.

I don't watch anything occult unless I've sought the Lord's guidance whether I should or shouldn't.

Somethings I 'know' are a no-no...(like pornography)...and if that's legalism, we're really in trouble.

Where do we draw the line? Where God tells you to. And only He knows so settle up with Him before you say how far we should go. If the Holy Spirit is guiding you, He'll tell you what He'll allow you to do.

No debate here....everything we do is in the hands of our Sovereign God in heaven. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

When you begin to force your convictions on other ppl (which is rejoicevermore's agenda...as we've observed with her NUMEROUS topics about the occult, witchcraft, halloween, harry potter, music, etc)...then yes...it becomes legalism.

Are people (young or old) really taking the harry potter books and movies serious, or is this just some fad that is not serious on the spiritual level.

I ask for I don't know anyone that has taken either the book or the movies serious. Good fiction but not even close to reality.
