People saw Jehovah, and no one has seen the Father so the two can't be one in the same. According to the first letter that Paul wrote to the Corinthians there are many "gods" and many "lords" but for us there is only one. 1 Cor 8:4-6 5 For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, 6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him. NASB The Universe and everything it, came from the Father, through Jesus who did the hands on stuff for the Father. Jesus set aside His position as the Word (John tells us the Word was in the form of a god), and was made flesh to live a sinless life and be sacrificed willingly for the punishment that we so deserve. When He (Jesus) went back to the Father, the Spirit was sent to us as a teacher and helper. God can be many things to many people. The term "God" is more confusing than helpful. It takes the Son, and the Spirit to reach the Father, so I guess we could consider the three of them our God. John did not tell us that "the Word was in the form of a god". John told us that "the Word was with God and the Word was God". And I thought the JEHOVAH was the Jewish name for God the Father. NASB Also when Jehovah was introducing Himself to Moses he referred to himself as I am, which Jesus sort of told the Priests he was. He further said; Ex 3:15 furthermore, said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations. NASB The two words in question are Lord, God which are OT:3068 Yehovah (yeh-ho-vaw'); from OT:1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God: KJV - Jehovah, the Lord.
