A peer-reviewed climate change study released Wednesday by the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change finds the threat of man-made global warming to be not only greatly exaggerated but so small as to be "embedded within the background variability of the natural climate system" and not dangerous.

I read an article just today that said arizona had the warmest summer ever. Then it went on to emphasize that it was the direct result of urbanization and the urban heat island effect and not global warming. The urban heat island effect is when the concrete and asphalt holds in so much heat that it makes the nights warmer and increases the average daily temperature. Even though the days are just average or below average in temperature.

there are two problems with the heat island effect being blamed for higher temps...

first, the rise in temperatures has been virtually the same in highly urbanized areas and very remote areas.  Think about Az, I lived there for 3.5 years, the vast, vast majority of the state is not urbanized.

Second, the areas of the globe that have seen the highest rise in temperatures over the last century are Russia, Alaska, northern Canada and Greenland...none of which are known for their wide spread urbanization.

I would not put much stock in anything published by the Heartland Institute.

The give "scientific" evidence for any group that is willing to give them cash.

Their denial of the dangers of second hand smoke and their downplaying of the dangers of smoking itself should be enough for anyone to disregard anything they have to say.

This is a mercenary group selling their "skills" to the highest bidder.

Blessings to all,

What a farce,,,,has anyone ever seen the global warming effects clearly seen in Alaska as shown on National Geographic....it is incredible, they show photos of the landscape(or skyline) as "then and now".....mountains of snow are just gone...its sad....it's like looking at the NY skyline, with a bid empty space in the sky where the Twin Towers used to stand.Dear Lord, what have we done to Your creation? Was it because of our negligience and carelessness or just as You intended time would have it?

                                                                                                              With love,in Christ-Kwik

Greenland around 1000 AD was far warmer than it is now. Its not the only time things were much warmer either. I disagree that global warming is man caused. Not when there were warmer times in the past.

In Az, the higher nighttime temps are not present in areas outside the cities. So it is heat island effect. The past few summers have been nicer during the day than they have been in past summers in the 1980s for instance.
