I was reading this passage and it seemed to tell me something more. Just wondered if anyone else had seen this and what your thoughts are:

It's about Jesus going to the Passover at 12 years of age.

His parents, would seem to refer to Israel, they went up to Jerusalem every year to celebrate the Passover.

When they had finished the days, Jesus lingered in Jerusalem and his parents did not know it.

They supposed Him to be among them and continued--a day's journey (20 miles)--, seeking Him among their relatives and aquaintances.

They did not find Him, so they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him.

After 3 days they found Him sitting in the temple!

And all who heard were astonished at His understanding and His answers.

When they saw Him they were amazed and His mother asked, "Why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously."

And He answered, "Why is it that you sought Me.? Do you not know that I must be about My Father's business."?They didn't understand what He meant so He went down with them and came to Nazareth and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart.

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

Looks like a picture of Israel and the end of the age to me. Pretty cool!

Another awesome insightful post on this board! That was really something to chew on wordsower. I'm going to be revisiting that one with hubby over coffee in the morning.

I think that was another hidden gem.

hey this is cool...

I also like verse 51 "and he went down with them and came unto nazareth, and was subject unto them; but his mother his mither kept all these saying in her heart"

Im liken this because it shows that sometimes we just have to sit down and listen

"Why is it that you sought Me.? Do you not know that I must be about My Father's business."?

Isn't that always the TRUE indicator.........one who is about The Father's Business, and not all the other junk that has made it's way into the church!

In His Love,

Suzanne

This was what hit me:

His parents, would seem to refer to Israel, they went up to Jerusalem every year to celebrate the Passover.

When they had finished the days, Jesus lingered in Jerusalem and his parents did not know it.

After "It was finished" The Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost, but Israel didn't know it.

They supposed Him to be among them and continued--a day's journey (20 miles)--, seeking Him among their relatives and aquaintances.

They continue in their tradition among themselves, supposing the Lord to be among them.

They did not find Him, so they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him.

The regathering of the Nation of Israel.

After 3 days they found Him sitting in the temple!

Glory! the Second Coming~

And all who heard were astonished at His understanding and His answers.

When they saw Him they were amazed and His mother asked, "Why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously."

Surely they will ask the Messiah these things at His coming.

And He answered, "Why is it that you sought Me.? Do you not know that I must be about My Father's business."?

They didn't understand what He meant so He went down with them and came to Nazareth and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart.

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

And The Government was upon His shoulders and He reigns forever and ever, Amen!

The Truth is most certainly being revealed. I am currently experiencing this. The kingdom of heaven IS at hand, very near, it is near, and not up needing to be brought down. The Word is in our hearts!

And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'

In His Love,

Suzanne

I have read this and heard this scripture many times, but I never looked at it like today. It is another foreshadow of the resurrection.

Jesus was found in the temple after three days. Everyone had been anxiously looking for him. Just like after he was crucified, the tomb was found empty; Martha and Mary were anxiously looking for him.

Even now we are to be looking anxiously for His return. We also are to be about the Father's business, just like Jesus still is today.

Just my thoughts.

InChrist,

CarolineS

Caroline,

See, that is why I posted this because I knew there was more. I didn't see the foreshadow to the resurrection but you are right! I was thinking of the prophecy to Israel in, I think Hosea, that after 3 days they will be restored.

This is a bigger story than I thought. I'm going to try to get some study time tonight and research the original Greek and see what else I find.

Thanks for all of your comments!
