Hello, thought I would share the positive spirituality of my world-view.

Rememeber this is only my opinion.

1. No such thing as sin... nothing to feel guilty about.

There is sin in the world; God created all things in the universe (including the universe). How can you deny this, it's in the Bible!

2. Hell doesnt exist...

God created all things un the universe including Hell where the unbelievers will find eternal torment. How can you deny this, it's in the Bible!

3. I want to do the "right "thing, love one another, be kind to others not because its the "right" thing to do, not because I am promised rewards in heaven. But because it makes me feel good and valuable.

Whether you accept it or not, what you are saying is that you want to do Gods will because the "right thing" is determined by Gods Law. You can't deny this, it's in the Bible!

4. my actions define who-I-am

God created you and you are a sinner, that is the definition of you. Your beliefs determine whether you go to hell or not. Actions are meaningless to your salvation.

that is deception. really. that's somewhat of hiding in the dark. we'll pretend that God does not see, that He is not who He says He is. sin is a fact. hell-fact. heaven-fact. GOD=FACT. there is no amount of hiding away. peace is in God. there is temporary comfort for the discomfort of sin in denying that it exists at all.

sin is so real. we can love wisdom or we can hate a rebuke, but sin is real either way.

there has to be a reason why you are here on a christian forum, hearing about God and testing all things related. if you're worldview on this were solid as rock, why be here now in this christian forum? God is faithful in all things. those that seek shall find. you will find a Rock.

Good, honest, decent, loving, caring, kind people do not reject their Creator.

Not one of us is good...none.

To prove that there is no afterlife, one would have to prove that humans do not have souls...and thus...are totally manifestations of physical substance, earthly matter.

Science proves that we have a soul.

We could not have freewill if we were merely a bunch of cells responding to their circumstances and environment according to the laws of nature.

God bless.

Did you ever look at the brain (ok, probably a picture of the brain, unless you're a surgeon) and wonder how that small lump of nerve tissue and fibers can produce the thoughts of Einstein, Mozart, Michaelangelo, John the Evangelist and Kierkegaard?

There's more than firing synapses going on here.

Peace,

Fiosh

PS to Halifax: YOU have a soul????? :)

:P:P:P:24:

Only kidding, ya know I love ya!

So after the body ceases to live, the soul continues? What about before the body began to live, where was the soul then?

Science proves that we have a soul.

Could you,

a) give us some evidence of this ... it sounds interesting

and

b) give us your view of what the soul is.

In fact, with a lot of evidence against it.

Analogy time!

"Look at that aeroplane go!"

"But its heavier than air, everyone knows it cant fly"

"But it is, look-"

"No, it must have angels under the wings to make it fly"

"We cant see any, detect any, and theres a lot of evidence showing it can fly on its own"

"No, they must be there, this old book says they are"

Ian

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The bible doesn't say you need angels to make an airplane fly.

And God said, "One cherubim for each wing, and one for the tail"

Eh, no.

Good post Gumby.

Good, honest, decent, loving, caring, kind people do not reject their Creator.

I have not rejected my parents.

Not one of us is good...none.

Speak for yourself. Who are you to stand in judgment of everyone?

To prove that there is no afterlife, one would have to prove that humans do not have souls...and thus...are totally manifestations of physical substance, earthly matter.

What is your proof for an afterlife? Believing in con men like Jon Edward?

Science proves that we have a soul.

As others have requested, please make your scientific case.

We could not have freewill if we were merely a bunch of cells responding to their circumstances and environment according to the laws of nature.

A bird has freewill: go to one place to get worms; go to a different place to get worms. A worm has freewill: come out of the ground; stay in the ground.

However, since you brought up freewill

Sorry this has taken me so long to respond...I missed your request in the barage of anti-Catholic doctrine I have been spreading...haha... :(

Anyway...science indeed does prove that we have a soul. According to the Theory of Evolution...the creature does not have control over itself...but that the surrounding Laws of Nature dictate its being. Scientific Athiest can attest to this.

If this was truly the case...human beings, in turn, consist of nothing outside of pure physical substance. But do we see proof of this in mankind? To prove that men do not have souls...scientists would have to exhibit evidence that man does not have freewill. A creature that has control over its own thoughts, deeds, and actions is obviously controlled by something outside of physical matter.

I assume that most readers here believe in freewill and choice...that a person has an entity within his/her self that is outside of the realm of physical explaination.

To put a label on what this "realm" is...is where religion/theology steps in.

I believe that the Bible sets forth rules and principals regarding this "entity" that is in harmony with both common sense and universal logic...harmony with nature, science, and the like.

To jump to a theological conclusion concerning this outside entity that influences and directs humans actions...is not the purpose right now. The purpose is to show scientifically that this "soul" is a fact. The next step, after acknowleding its necessary existance...would be to discover a theology in relation to it.

If it is of any consolation...I believe that God creates the soul/spirit at birth and that this soul lives on forever after death...either in heaven or in hell.

Also...there are additional proofs supporting "souls", or "spirit", in this universe. Namely, the fact that science says that for every effect...there must be an initial CAUSE. Matter cannot be CREATED NOR DESTROYED. Both of these general scientific truths are compatible with Christian thinking.

We know that if the universe had a beginning...there must be a CAUSE...or CREATOR...outside the physical realm of that creation.

We know that if matter cannot be created...yet it is here...it must have a SUPERNATURAL explaination OUTSIDE THE REALM of the physical.

In fact...there are many scientists today studying the areas of metaphysics...suggesting the very thing that Christians have been saying the whole time:

THERE MUST BE AN INITIAL BEGINNER...BEFORE YOU GET A BEGINNING.

God bless. :(

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
