Some say Wednesday , Thursday and Friday 

 

But which day is it really

Friday to Sunday can not be 3 days and 3 nights

actually the Bible don't say what day He arose, it does say that the women went to the tomb on the first day of the week, but He was already gone. so at best it is an assumption that He arose on Sunday which was the first day of the week, It doesn't say what day He was put in the tomb.it was before the Sabbath or on the Sabbath. he just couldn't be on the cross on the Sabbath,  ( keeping in mind the Jewish days started a 6 at night so the Sabbath would be from 6 pm to 6pm the next day) also you need to factor that this was the week that the Passover was suppose to be, Holy days such as Passover were also called Sabbaths, so did they have the Passover on Friday before the seventh day Sabbath ( Saturday) or did the Passover Sabbath fall on the seventh day Sabbath.       

I disagree, The chronology of the death and buriel is spelled out in Matthew's account, Ch 27:57 -62, where we see that the events of the burial take place on the evening of the execution.

What do you think and why? You never even touch on your thoughts.

Remember, scripture tells us that Jesus had to be removed from the cross due to the Sabbath and that He arose on the first day of the week.

The Sabbath starts at sundown on Friday, so Jesus died before sundown - Friday - day 1

He was in the Tomb all day Saturday - day 2

He rose sometime before dawn on Sunday - day 3

We are given a timetable of 3 days, not 72 hours.

Matthew 12:40 recorded the words of Jesus saying "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.", yet we also read in John 2:19-21 "Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” But He was speaking of the temple of His body."

After Jesus was seen, how do we know He did not return to continue preaching to the lost? We don't have documentation one way or another, so we take scripture on faith that it is true.

Some, in an attempt to teach a Sunday morning resurrection, have used Matthew 28:1 in support of such a teaching. We do know, however, that Jesus Christ was resurrected on Saturday afternoon, around sunset, after having been in the grave for three days and three nights. He was killed on a Wednesday, and placed in the grave on Wednesday afternoon, just around sunset.

"We read in Matthew 28:1-6 (Authorized Version): 'In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day ( which stars at evening ) of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it… And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for HE IS RISEN, AS HE SAID.'

"We note from the passage that Christ was already resurrected by the time the women came to the grave. We are told that they appeared 'in the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week.'This point out that this phrase discusses the END of the SABBATH, that is, Saturday evening or late afternoon, and NOT Sunday morning.

What Really Happened from Burial to Resurrection

Christ’s crucifixion took place on Passover day, the 14th of Abib (or Nisan), the first month in God’s Sacred Calendar. This occurred in the year A.D. 31, in which Passover fell on a Wednesday. Many fail to consider the prophecy that the Messiah would be “cut off…in the midst of the week”                     (Dan. 9:26-27). Wednesday falls in the middle of the week—the very day upon which Passover fell in A.D. 31. According to the Roman calendar, this date was Wednesday, April 25.

Between the ninth and twelfth hours (3:00 - 6:00 p.m.), Christ died (Luke 23:44-46). With Governor Pilate’s permission, Joseph of Arimathaea procured the body, wrapped it in linen (John 19:40) and placed it in the sepulcher (Luke 23:50-53). By the time the burial was complete, the Sabbath “drew on” (vs. 54). Thus, the burial took place on Passover day, shortly before sunset.

That Passover was a preparation day, in that it preceded an annual Sabbath. This annual Sabbath (called the First Day of Unleavened Bread) was called a high Sabbath or “high day” (John 19:31) and fell on a Thursday that year. It was on this day that the high priest and the Pharisees came to Pilate to ensure that Christ’s tomb was securely guarded and sealed (Matt. 27:62-66).

Mark 16:1 records what took place on that Friday: “And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint Him.” (Verse 2 jumps to Sunday morning.) The phrase, “and when the Sabbath was past,” refers to the high day that occurred on Thursday. Since the women could not buy spices on the seventh-day Sabbath (Saturday), Friday was the only time they could have done so.

Luke 23:56 states, “And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.” After buying the spices, they returned and prepared them to be applied to Christ’s body in the tomb, which they planned to do after resting on the weekly Sabbath.

Another question is which day of the week was Jesus crucified?

The trouble is, it doesn't work. This only adds up to three days and two nights, not three days andthree nights.

Also, John 20:1 tells us that "on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb."

 

Did you catch the problem here? John tells us it was still dark when Mary went to the tomb on Sunday morning and found it empty. Jesus was already resurrected well before daybreak. Thus He wasn't in the tomb any of the daylight portion of Sunday, so none of that can be counted as a day.

John 20:1 - Early on the first day of the week when it was still dark... and saw that the stone had been rolled away.

 

So the women came just before sunrise on Sunday the first day of the week.  The Resurrection occurred before sun up on the First day of the week.  6pm Sat. to 3 am to 5 am Sunday.  Matt 28 - On their way to the tomb there was a great earthquake, when they arrived an angel was sitting on the stone and the guards were in shock.

 

This can be taken two ways;

 

1.  When on their way to the tomb, the earthquake happened. (4am to 5am) or

2.  The earthquake awoke them, then they went to the tomb (maybe 9pm to 5am)

 

But with either case, the Resurrection happened on Sunday before sunrise.

The term day can refer the time between sun up and sundown, but it can also refer to any portion of a day (sundown to sundown). The way day counts are reckoned, any portion of a day counts as 1 day. So if I traveled for 3 days, the count of 3 days could start an hour before sundown as day 1, the entire next day, and one hour after sundown down counts as the day 3 .
