  1. I'm looking forward to the rapture. By the time 'The Day of the Lord' arrives I'll already be in my glorified body returning with the Lord on his day. It will be wonderful to finally see the wickedness of this world destroyed. Seeing people I know that aren't saved going to their destruction won't be happy. Even the prophet Amos says- Woe to you that desire the Day of the Lord. Not going to be a pretty day... Meeting Jesus in the sky is the rapture a distinct and different event 7 years prior. Amos 5:17-19 Amplified Bible (AMP) 17 And in all vineyards there shall be wailing, for I will pass through the midst of you, says the Lord. 18 Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord! Why would you want the day of the Lord? It is darkness and not light; 19 It is as if a man fled from a lion and a bear met him, or went into the house and leaned with his hand against the wall and a serpent bit him. Jeremiah 46:10 But that day is a day of the Lord, the Lord of hosts—a day of vengeance, that He may avenge Himself on His adversaries. And the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiated and shall drink its fill of their blood; for the Lord, the Lord of hosts has a sacrifice [like that of a great sin offering] in the north country by the river Euphrates.
  2. So you think Nero was the AntiChrist or something? Your first mistake is looking at resources outside the Bible. The Bible is your only safe literature and anything else God hasn't ordained as His Word. Outside sources are fine as long as they do not go against the Bible and definitely should NOT be taken over the Bible. The Bible should always be your ultimate authority as a Christian. For example this entire diatribe you've spent time on that obviously could have been used for something better. You can make anybody into the AntiChrist if you jump through enough hoops and this is a three ring circus of bending over backwards to make things fit. First you had to manipulate numbers to make Nero's name add up to another sum other than 666. The Bible said 666 and means 666. The Jews hadn't been regathered as a nation at Nero's time. That alone pretty much nullifies the arguement. What about the False Prophet? What about the 2 Witnesses that call down fire from Heaven? What about when the Bible says he shall decieve the ENTIRE World? Etc... etc... There's more to Revelation than just 666 and the mark of the beast. One thing I can guarantee you is the AntiChrist hasn't made his appearance yet and he isn't any historical figure from the past. Thessalonians says the AntiChrist will be destroyed by the Lord himself... Nero died by trying to commit suicide and had to have assistance to accomplish the act due to fear. 2 Thessalonians 2:7-9 King James Version (KJV) 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
  3. Since I asked the question show me in the Bible where somebody is alive without the body- I've anticipated your answer. Saul used a witch to summon a spirit that was suppose to be Samuel. Here's a great explanation- Texts in question: 1 Samuel 28:11–15 “Then the woman said, ‘Whom shall I bring up for you?’ And he said, ‘Bring Samuel up for me.’ When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice. And the woman spoke to Saul, saying, ‘Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul!’ And the king said to her, ‘Do not be afraid. What did you see?’ And the woman said to Saul, ‘I saw a spirit ascending out of the earth.’ So he said to her, ‘What is his form?’ And said, ‘An old man is coming up, and he is covered with a mantle.’ And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground and bowed down. Now Samuel said to Saul, ‘Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?’ And Saul answered, ‘I am deeply distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me and does not answer me anymore, neither by prophets nor by dreams. Therefore I have called you, that you may reveal to me what I should do.’ ” Proof texts: 1 Samuel 28:6; Deuteronomy 18:10–12 The story of the witch of Endor, found in 1 Samuel 28, tells a sad tale of the results of disobedience toward God. Saul was a powerful spiritual leader. God appointed him to be the first king over Israel. He was a mighty ruler and was filled with the spirit of God. However, he was also a stubborn man. He was weak in many ways, and he refused to repent when confronted with his sins. Instead, he chose rebellion against the Lord. He steadily lost power over the latter part of his reign and eventually died by his own hand. By the time he consulted the witch at Endor, he had become a desperate man. God no longer answered his prayers, and he felt increasingly powerless over his enemies, his kingdom, and himself. In desperation, he asked the witch to raise the spirit of the dead prophet Samuel, who had been his counsel while he was alive. Many people use the story of Saul’s encounter with the spirit summoned by the witch as proof that people continue to live in spiritual form after death. How else, they reason, can Samuel have appeared to Saul during this Old Testament séance? Truly, if it were the actual spirit of Samuel, we could draw conclusions about death and the afterlife. However, if the spirit was simply impersonating Samuel, then we can draw no real conclusions at all. The Bible is very clear that demons can impersonate other beings, even beings of light, but are not, themselves, deceased human beings (see 2 Corinthians 11:14). Samuel was a faithful man for his entire life. He was dedicated to the service of God at his birth, and he received direct communications from heaven until his death. Unquestionably, he had God’s favor. If he were alive in spiritual form after death, he would surely be in heaven in the presence of the Lord. This should help us know the true nature of this spirit. God had chosen to stop communicating with Saul because of his rebellion and refusal to repent. First Samuel 28:6 makes God’s silence plain: “And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets.” The Bible plainly states that God refused to speak to Saul through His prophets. Therefore, if Samuel were still alive, he would not have received any word from God for Saul. Yet the story with the witch tells us that the spirit “Samuel” did speak to Saul, and even delivered a prophetic message to him (see 1 Samuel 28:16–19). If God did not speak to Saul through the prophets, yet Samuel delivered a prophetic message anyway, then Samuel would have been in rebellion against God. Why would Samuel, a man who was obedient to God every moment of his life, choose to rebel after his death? It’s simply illogical. We must also remember that God gave specific instructions to His people against performing witchcraft, sorcery, necromancy, or even associating with people who did these things. The Bible plainly warns in Deuteronomy 18:10–12: “There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you.” Saul was aware of this instruction. He had evicted all mediums and spiritists from the land of Israel during his reign (1 Samuel 28:3). Therefore, when he consulted the witch at Endor, he was breaking God’s command as well as his own. The spirit that appeared to him could not have been from heaven, because God had specifically forbidden all such forms of communication with the dead. If the spirit wasn’t Samuel, it could only have been a demon. Demons appearing to people on earth do not tell us anything about life after death.
  4. I guess you could call it 'soul sleep' but I feel the Bible says clearly we are unconcious until the rapture of the Church. I'm certainly no Jehovah's Witness or whatever- my beliefs come straight from the Bible. If you need to believe in ghosts or things such as that then knock yourself out like kwik said. It's so widely preached and backed up by Hollywood that is hard to hold it against anyone. In another thread I outlined several scriptures that show clearly the dead return to dust until the resurrection. Even Peter said plainly that the Patriarch David is with them to this day. The fundamental problem is people have so many wild ideas about mind, body, soul, spirit and so on. Look at your Bible and show me where somebody is alive without their body. Even our Lord and Savior has his physical, yet GLORIFIED, body in Heaven. Even resurrected he showed his disciples that he was flesh and bone- put your finger in the nail prints. A living being is a combination of two things. The breath of life from God (known as your spirit) and a physical body. Without both there is no life. Why would God bother resurrecting our corpses from the grave if they aren't a component to life? When you die the reverse happens- your spirit (breath of life) returns to God and you return to dust. The breath of life is not 'you' though and doesn't contain your thoughts, feelings, and personality. There will be no sin in Heaven and not sure where somebody would get that crazy idea. Probably from the Satan being loosed after 1,000 years- but it's wrong. All sin will be completely sterilized from the entire Universe after the 1,000 years. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. This is true- when you die your next consciuos thought will be of hearing the shout of the Archangel to meet the Lord in the air. It says clearly the dead do NOT praise the Lord... How much more claer could God be on the issue? First thing I'd do if it were possible is to PRAISE him but I'll have to wait for the rapture. Search the scriptures for yourself and come to your own conclusions. I'm OCD and have been a Bible addict since I became a true born again Christian 20+ years ago. I was raised a Christian in hellfire and brimstone churches and went to Catholic school from 2nd-6th grade. I get where you are coming from and like I said can't blame anybody for holding onto an immortal soul theology. Plato was the father of it and it was used through the ages to scare people into Church. Rusty I know you're a good Christian woman and I'm not sure why it doesn't make sense. Probably has to deal with the 'eternal tormenting' and End Times theologies which is the basis for the entire 'immortal soul' doctrine. To me it doesn't make sense anyway else... What kind of Heaven would it be if our loved ones are seeing the troubles we're living through? Here is the reverse of what makes a living soul- Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust [out of which God made man’s body] return to the earth as it was, and the spirit shall return to God Who gave it. Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; and they have no more reward [here], for the memory of them is forgotten. Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you shall return. 1 Thessalonians 1:10 And [how you] look forward to and await the coming of His Son from heaven, Whom He raised from the dead—Jesus, Who personally rescues and delivers us out of and from the wrath [bringing punishment] which is coming [upon the impenitent] and draws us to Himself [investing us with all the privileges and rewards of the new life in Christ, the Messiah]. 2 Timothy 4:1 I charge [you] in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, Who is to judge the living and the dead, and by (in the light of) His coming and His kingdom: Isaiah 26:19 Your dead shall live [O Lord]; the bodies of our dead [saints] shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For Your dew [O Lord] is a dew of [sparkling] light [heavenly, supernatural dew]; and the earth shall cast forth the dead [to life again; for on the land of the shades of the dead You will let Your dew fall]. 1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the [sound of the] last trumpet call. For a trumpet will sound, and the dead [in Christ] will be raised imperishable (free and immune from decay), and we shall be changed (transformed). 1 Thessalonians 4:13 Now also we would not have you ignorant, brethren, about those who fall asleep [in death], that you may not grieve [for them] as the rest do who have no hope [beyond the grave]. Acts 2:29 Brethren, it is permitted me to tell you confidently and with freedom concerning the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Etc... etc... etc... I'm about to quote the entire Bible here. Like I said search the scriptures for yourselves as we're commanded and show yourselves approved. Don't take my word for it- take God's. As always love all you guys and this isn't a salvational issue- so please don't take it as one/make it one or think I'm piping something unBiblical. I'm quite fanatical about Bible accuracy. I'm also not a member of any kind of anything really... Never been in a cult and don't get me started on Jehovah's Witness- sheesh. JW run from my house! My only Church membership right now is Conerstone in San Antonio under John Hagee. My health has interfered greatly with my Church attendance unfortunately- especially lately. If it isn't in the Bible I don't believe it either- and immortal soul isn't in the Bible.
  5. Luke 16:23-24 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. KJV that would mean Jesus is lying here wouldn't it? Love, Steven No. It means Jesus is telling a parable and you take it literally. The irony Jesus was trying to use seems to be lost on most. Jesus was explaining to the Jews that being a descendent of Abraham or being rich were NO guarantee of salvation. It amazes me that so many astute bible scholars still believe in 'immortal souls', immortal spirits, etc... The Bible clearly states where all the dead are... They are DEAD! Death is refered to as sleep repeatedly. The Bible also states that only God has natural immortality. We are bestowed immortality when we become like Jesus at the resurrection of the saints. Why does Jesus need to raise all the dead to eternal life or judgement if you think we're already spooks in Heaven? 1 Timothy 6:16 Who alone has immortality [in the sense of exemption from every kind of death] and lives in unapproachable light, Whom no man has ever seen or can see. Unto Him be honor and everlasting power and dominion. Amen (so be it). I know it is jarring theology but it is straight from the Bible. Immortal soul theology was taught to me as well before I studied the scriptures for myself and found out we are VERY mortal beings, what constitutes life, and where the dead are now. Study the 'Life Principle'. Without God's breath of life and your physical body- you cease to exist. When you die the breath of life returns to God but it isn't 'you' it doesn't contain your memories or personality. The combination of God's breath+physical body=a living soul. To ancient rabbis this wasn't even a question. The dead are all asleep in the ground... All the dead Saints including King David and Mary are all asleep waiting the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. So praying for saints to pray for you is completely fruitless and unBiblical. Jesus is our High Priest and only one you need to have your prayers heard directly by God. Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life, and man became a living being. Job 27:3 As long as my life is still whole within me, and the breath of God is [yet] in my nostrils, Acts 2:29 Brethren, it is permitted me to tell you confidently and with freedom concerning the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the [sound of the] last trumpet call. For a trumpet will sound, and the dead [in Christ] will be raised imperishable (free and immune from decay), and we shall be changed (transformed). Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing; and they have no more reward [here], for the memory of them is forgotten. JOHN 11: 11 He said these things, and then added, Our friend Lazarus is at rest and sleeping; but I am going there that I may awaken him out of his sleep. 12 The disciples answered, Lord, if he is sleeping, he will recover. 13 However, Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He referred to falling into a refreshing and natural sleep. 14 So then Jesus told them plainly, Lazarus is dead, 20 When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went to meet Him, while Mary remained sitting in the house. 21 Martha then said to Jesus, Master, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 And even now I know that whatever You ask from God, He will grant it to You. 23 Jesus said to her, Your brother shall rise again. 24 Martha replied, I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Notice even Martha had her theology right. Believing in ghosts or disembodied spirits will open people up to many deceptions. If a relative came to you as a spirit, and know that your loved one is sleeping until the day of resurrection, then you know it is a deceiving spirit. That's why when people see these visions of Mary (Jesus Mother) they are duped into believing evil spirits. Since I was raised like how you believe I can understand brother. When I was 7 years old they showed me 'The Burning Hell!!' at the small church by my Grandma's house. Most preachers preach we're immortal souls but fail to see that the entire concept comes from Plato. It's the mixing of Platonian ideals with Biblical ones that birthed this theology.
  6. Those Iranians are playing the USA like a fine tuned fiddle... They think we're absolute idiots and well Washington has proven that already. So ridiculous- they stand in the UN and flat out say 'We're going to kill you all.' and they make no bones about it. Even now they're saying publically the US bargains because they can't defeat Iran militarily and they're just giving us time before they kill us all.
  7. If I encountered one I'd just encourage them to study their Bible. I'm not sure how anyone would believe it's already happened if they knew their Bible. Not sure if it's the most dangerous, but it isn't good to say the least. Especially since the End Times are right upon us and Revelation is unfolding right before our eyes.
  8. I was watching Hal Lindsey last night. He thinks Syria will try some WMD chemical attack on Israel and then Israel will nuke Damascus filling the prophecy of Isaiah 17. Then since they used nukes it will bring in Russia, Iran, Palestine, etc... To declare war on Israel leading to Ezekial 38-39. Isaiah 17:1 The mournful, inspired prediction (a burden to be lifted up) concerning Damascus [capital of Syria, and Israel’s bulwark against Assyria]. Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city and will become a heap of ruins. One thing for sure is Syria still has their chemical weapons and they still haven't honored their 'agreement'. The Syrian rebels now have chemical weapon supplies as well and they'd be the ones to attack Israel.
  9. Satan doesn't have immortality either- only God. When God finally casts it all into outer darkness all sin including Satan and the fallen angels will cease to exist. 1 Timothy 6:16 Who alone has immortality [in the sense of exemption from every kind of death] and lives in unapproachable light, Whom no man has ever seen or can see. Unto Him be honor and everlasting power and dominion. Amen (so be it). We are given immortality through Jesus and that is the ONLY way for a human being to become immortal. Where people get messed up is not understanding what makes a living soul. Your spirit is the breath of life from God and it returns to God at your death. But it does not contain your thoughts/feelings/personality. A living soul is the combination of God's breath+the body=you. Without either one you cease to exist. The body you have now will be the one you have in Heaven- only glorified. It's jarring to many because mainstream preachers still preach an immortal soul and eternal torment. For me personally when I first heard about this concept, many years ago, I thought it couldn't be true. Yet when you learn the scriptures you find that is exactly the truth.
  10. LOL... Yeah I thought somebody was smuggling 100lbs of explosives inside their person. Talk about somebody ready to blow! On another note... You'd be surprised what your neighbors are doing.
  11. He had a stroke in 2006 from heart/kidney disease that put him in a coma.
  12. I just watched that crazy CNN interview. Is it me or has Dennis picked up a Korean accent? He seems out of his mind and everybody around him knows it. The look in his friends eyes- they almost looked scared or something.
  13. From Matthew Henry Study Bible- The white stone, with a new name engraven upon it. This white stone is absolution from the guilt of sin, alluding to the ancient custom of giving a white stone to those acquitted on trial and a black stone to those condemned. The new name is the name of adoption: adopted persons took the name of the family into which they were adopted. None can read the evidence of a man’s adoption but himself; he cannot always read it, but if he persevere he shall have both the evidence of sonship and the inheritance.
  14. You have to be the same person that posted about this problem before? Remember we talked and I'm sorry to see you are still struggling with this issue. You tried to make restitution and your professors told you that it was ok. They obviously felt you knew enough about the material that didn't warrant retaking the class. God has forgiven you. Like I said before use it as a lesson in God's almighty grace. We all deserve to be punished for our sins but are forgiven through the shed blood of Jesus. You've obviously repented and done all you can do. Use it for God's glory.
  15. All sin will be destroyed and the entire Universe restored to its former harmony. That's why the theology of eternal hellfire doesn't match with scriptures. God isn't going to keep sin alive for eternity in a special hole. Sin will be completely eradicated. God cleansed the Earth once with water and the second time will be consumed and cleansed by fire burning up all the works. Satan will be chained for 1000 years and then the unsaved dead will be resurrected for the White Throne Judgement. At that point every knee shall bow to the glory of God. Then Satan, the unsaved, and all sin will be thrown into the lake of fire completely destroyed. The Bible doesn't back up that God will keep Satan and sinners alive forever. The Earth and Universe will be restored to its former sinless state. Do a search for 'immortal soul' in the Bible. You won't find it.
  16. Of course death isn't part of God's plan and not part of what God intended. God describes death as an enemy. While I believe Adam surrendered the deed to Earth to Satan and Jesus will reclaim that deed. While Adam was in Eden - Satan was running around with millions of angels. Were these demons possessing animals and causing death? They obviously have the ability to possess animals and manipulate them. Had the enemy of Death already been loosed by Lucifer? The main point is we do not know. The Bible doesn't say specifically and you're trying to make it say what you want. You might be right and the Earth is very young with apparent age. Or you might be wrong and there was much more going on than was revealed to us in scripture. Everything hangs on your definition of Day which God uses quite liberally to describe 24 hours or ages. Having a number modifier doesn't mean much if they weren't in the original manuscripts. 1 Corinthians 15:25-27 Amplified Bible (AMP) 25 For [Christ] must be King and reign until He has put all [His] enemies under His feet. 26 The last enemy to be subdued and abolished is death. 27 For He [the Father] has put all things in subjection under His [Christ’s] feet. But when it says, All things are put in subjection [under Him], it is evident that He [Himself] is excepted Who does the subjecting of all things to Him.
  17. Galatians 5 Amplified Bible (AMP) 14 For the whole Law [concerning human relationships] is [e]complied with in the one precept, You shall love your neighbor as [you do] yourself. 15 But if you bite and devour one another [in partisan strife], be careful that you [and your whole fellowship] are not consumed by one another. 16 But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God). 17 For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do. 18 But if you are guided (led) by the [Holy] Spirit, you are not subject to the Law. 19 Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency, 20 Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies), 21 Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, 23 Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [[f]that can bring a charge]. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires. 25 If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [if by the Holy Spirit [g]we have our life in God, let us go forward [h]walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.] 26 Let us not become vainglorious and self-conceited, competitive and challenging and provoking and irritating to one another, envying and being jealous of one another.
  18. I doubt it was the first time and they'd made offerings. Surely Adam and Eve had raised them to make offerings to the Lord. To me it adds to the meaning if it isn't the first offering because it shows that over time he lost respect for God. Demonstrating to us that we shouldn't neglect our sacrifices to the Lord and always give our best. That is part of the overall point of course but just a reinforcement to the meaning.
  19. Well I think she asked the question because they were literally at Jacob's well. If you think about the situation, she had a landmark right there. She could have easily said Moses, David, or another man of God.
  20. Shiloh already answered you on page one Izz. Saturday evening is already considered the start of the next day.
  21. I'm pre-trib rapture too because that's what I personally feel the scripture's say clearly. Mid and post tribbers seem to think pre-tribbers are trying to escape the tribulation and that's why they hold that view. They seem to think pre-tribbers are lesser Christians, or wimps, or not ready to stand up for Christ during persecution. Personally I'd die for my belief right now, and people ARE dying for their Christianity this day. Many of us are just fortunate enough not to live in a place of persecution. We should all be prepared to die for our belief in Christ if you're pre, mid, or post tribbers. My belief in pre-tribulation has nothing to do with any personal feelings but my belief in what the scripture says plainly.
  22. We should all be scripturally honest enough to say that we don't know either way. We should also recognise that thinking the Universe is old doesn't mean you have to believe in evolution or things like that. That seems to be the Young Earth theorists biggest issue thinking old earth is pushing an evolutionary agenda. Young earthers argue 'yom' ONLY means ONE day. But it's been shown that all the rules and regulations put on the word were put there by young earth theorists. We don't know much at all pre-Eden, or how long Adam and Eve were in the Garden. We don't know if the Garden was a protected zone and outside the Garden may already be suffering the effects of Satan and the fallen angels sins. It does seem Biblically accurate to say Satan had already been cast down prior to the Earth being formed into what Adam knew. I will be honest enough to say I do not know. The Bible does not say straight out and to put God in a box with man's knowledge is foolish either way. What is a day to God? What is 24 hours to an eternal being? The Bible tells me a day is as a thousand years to God and time means nothing. Time has always been for our benefit not God's. In my younger life I was very interested in archeology, paleontology, history, geology, etc... Let me tell you it is hard to say the Earth is 6,000 years old when you're standing in the shadow of a mountain cut in half. When you can look up and count 10,000+ years of layers it makes you wonder. But as a Christian it should NOT make us doubt God. We also put words in God's mouth saying 'he says' the Earth is 6,000 years old. Maybe God created Earth and the Universe with apparent age, maybe the speed of light was instant back then, maybe this or maybe that. We won't know until we are in the arms of our loving savior. The worst thing of all is people start to turn this into a salvational issue or condescend that you don't know your Bible. You can believe in an old Earth and be saved and to say otherwise is absurd. Like I said -I do not know- but I can also say -you do not know-. None of us know and don't let it rip apart the unity of the Body of Christ. We are all part of Christ's body and we should be doing 'His' work not laying division between ourselves. We should be preaching to the lost but if that lost person can't believe in a young earth- they can still believe in Salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. One thing I can say for sure. Being dogmatic on either side and it driving somebody away from the Lord it is to your shame. Love you all!
  23. What a joke... Seems like Satan wants us to quit using Amen- I'm sure nothing would make him happier. I'm surprised the mods approved this...
  24. I'm confused LookingforAnswers, Do you think Jesus would say Homosexuality is not sin ? I do, but it is not about what I think, others think otherwise. The question is "what baffles us about the Bible", and I do wonder why Jesus was silent on this topic. He could have ended any and all confusion with his words. That's why he made a blanket statement like in Matthew 5. Predefined sins aren't suddenly not sins just because Jesus can forgive them. Same goes for abortion- that would fall under murder. You know I get where you're coming from but it is an abuse of grace. The grace is there that any sin may be forgiven but it doesn't mean we should continue in sin. It isn't a holier than though ego trip either. Nobody needs the Lord's grace more than me! The wages of sin is death and that isn't only spiritual death. Living by Biblical principals will lead you to a healthier happier life- it isn't about salvation. Eating like a glutton will make you fat and unhealthy, immoral sex can lead to diseases and many other bad things, lies lead to bad things, etc... etc... Some don't want to say Aids was a consequence of sin- but most caught it from homosexual sex or sharing needles. Matthew 5:16-18 Amplified Bible (AMP) 16 Let your light so shine before men that they may see your [a]moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and [b]recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven. 17 Do not think that I have come to do away with or [c]undo the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to do away with or undo but to complete and fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until the sky and earth pass away and perish, not one smallest letter nor one little hook [identifying certain Hebrew letters] will pass from the Law until all things [it foreshadows] are accomplished.
