(Worthy News) - The Turkish military claims to have taken over after Turkey's PM said a military faction had been involved in an attempted coup.

In a statement read out on Turkey's NTV television, the army said: "Power in the country has been seized in its entirety."

According to Sky sources, state TV has been stormed by the military and staff have been asked to hand in their mobile phones.

A Turkish state news agency is reporting that a top general is among several people being "held hostage" at the military headquarters in Ankara. [ Source ]

Coup appears to be weakening as the army lost it's previous control of the airport (unless this is one of many false rumours).

I saw people waking all around rhe airport on camera 4 hours ago.  Not a military person in sight

The coup failed.  End of story for a secular Turkey.  It seems to me that Turkey as it turns more and more towards an Islamic State, should be kicked out of NATO.  If we can't use our military base there and they give little to no support against our fight against ISIS, what is to be gained by their continued membership in NATO?

I agree, as well as cutting off all aid and military sales and support.  It should be immediate.
