This is the Australian Christmas Day??

Many head to the beach ( absolutely jam packed), others eat the traditional Christmas lunch at home - play backyard cricket after lunch, chill out in the afternoon and eat leftover lunch food for dinner at night.

I send Christmas cards to my family and friends, I exchange gifts with my loved ones (although its not overboard), family gathers for a delicious lunch ( we eat the things we love - not necessarily traditional Christmas food) and we understand that we are doing this because of the Birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He is the number One reason we meet up on Christmas Day. ??

Merry Christmas down under. This is your summer? Is it hot where you live now? What kind of food is popular in Australia?

Thank you MM and Merry Christmas to you too??

Yes it's our summer and it's expected to be a very hot one as well - in my neck of the woods, we'll be expecting a cyclone this summer - hope one doesn't develop into full strength but we do need a good drenching of rain - they call Australia the sunburnt country and that's exactly what it is at the moment.

Do you mean food on Christmas Day ir just generally?

Christmas lunch is tending to be more seafood (prawns, bugs) and salads - traditional is a roast (lamb, beef, pork, chicken or turkey) - a leg of ham either baked or cold with the roast vegetables, peas, carrots, cirn  and gravy. Dessert can be Christmas cake (fruit cake) with a cup of tea, Christmas pudding, trifle, pavlova, fruit salad, custard, cream, icecream.

On a regular day, steak, chicken, lamb, pork, sausages, veges, stirfry that kind of thing.

Australia has a BIG coffee (cafe) culture - all types of coffees - both young people and older.

Oh yeah, also BIG drinking (alcohol) culture...
