James 2:22 says good works are the perfecter of our faith. I'm just really confused... which is it? or am I misunderstanding the meanings of these verses? Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Jesus perfects and consummates faith (Hebrews 12: 2) insofar as He works both to will and to do according to His good will (Philippians 2:12, 13) within each one that allows it. Good works through the eyes of men, but they are not the same in the eyes of God.
