Every time we get legalists here pushing their topic de jour (this time it's calendars, which is a new one; other topics are Easter, Christmas, pork, clothing ... the list is vast) there's always an unspoken subtext of superiority ("I can't convince you of my higher way, so obviously you're unteachable. Pity."). That's why I pay little attention to them. After a while they move on to presumably greener fields.

It's only as pagan as you make it. I use it as an opportunity to celebrate my Lord's incarnation, birth, death and resurrection and as a time to teach my children the specialness of those events.

Colossians 2:16-17 KJVS
[16] Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days : [17] Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

But where goes the line? Soon well say its only as pagan you make it about anything?

And why is The Lord waving finger about it to me?

Hi

I think the enemy would love a world without Christmas.

God bless

People do get nicer during that time.

Well that sums it up and we can end this discussion right here. Shame on us if we ever pointed our finger at someone who put up a Christmas tree or color an egg and accused them of not be as holy as  ourselves.

I personally would draw the line at dancing naked around, well anything I guess. :o

Wait we are debating the calendar now? I'm still on Christmas and Easter. :P

Now yes Yown there were types and shadows in the old testament, but in the matter of Christmas, it was not a type and shadow, it is pagan period.

God does not want us to esteem pagan days, just like he would not want us to celebrate a festival after Baal, he is the same yesterday , today and forever.

Then don't celebrate it if you feel that way.

I know what you are saying Shiloh, but in the bible, their is no evidence at all of God calling that month with that name, so something must of happened in the past for that to be.

The name of that month was there during Jesus' earthly ministry, and He didn't speak against it, so it evidently wasn't a problem for Him.
