the couple cents you pay for those programs is nothing.  SMH.

The millions of $$ sent to them from our taxes could go to more worthwhile programs, like helping people find jobs so they can get out of poverty and help shoulder the tax burden.

EH?  This statement contradicts what you said earlier.  If you want social programs pay for them yourself. Also I would support programs like this, lets use the tax money that goes to corporate welfare.  I'm sure the few billion that Israel gets every year would help as well.

No contradiction at all.   I said if you want CERTAIN social programs (NPR, PBS, volunteer programs, National Endowment for the Arts)  those who want them and value them should pay for them and not the tax payer.

Israel does good things with the money we give them, so there is no reason to take that from them.   We actually benefit from how they spend the foreign aid we send over there.  For one thing, 50% or more of that foreign aid sent to Israel is returned to us in the form of contracts with major industries that produce planes and other things the Israeli military needs.  Israel actually keeps people in good paying jobs in the US.  Our aid to Israel is good for our economy.

So, we give money to Israel, they keep 50% and they send 50% of it back to us and you call that "good".   How about we keep all 100% here and use it on our own economy?  Seems to make a lot more sense

There was a time when feeding hungry kids was a Christian cause, now it is just a liberal cause.   How times have changed.

Like NPR or PBS?  The government should not be funding news organizations; that's what they do in Russia and China.  Aid to Israel is a strategic aid and they are a strong ally where we need it most.  Also, God tells us we are to support Israel so the detractors should go argue with Him.  I don't think school lunch or breakfast programs should be cut whatsoever nor Meals on Wheels.  But the Arts?  Like you said, let those that want such things support them.
